    What I love about these is that they're 16oz but still have a very compact profile more similar to a fight glove.

    Great review as always but just wanted to mention that the gloves are not leather they are synthetic leather

    I recently bought these directly from Rival, and I thought I share my impression here, as Rival will not post reviews that are less than 5 stars on their site (obviously). Not even sure why they bother asking for the feedback, if they are not intended to post it. Anyway...
    I bought 16oz gloves, and initially they were so tight that I had to put tennis and golf balls in order to make some room for the hands. They are quite compact, which I like, but it's a bit difficult to make a good fist in them. Maybe it make sense to go one size up, so maybe I should have bought 18oz, especially considering that the real weight of these are less than the nominal number (my 16oz weigh about 14.7oz).
    I thought they needed to be broken in, in order to fit better, so I used them on the bag, but even after a month of using them on the bag, they give me a lot of pain in the knuckles and especially in the wrists - so much that I had to take some time of the gym. I'm doing boxing for 7 years and my hands and wrists are generally well conditioned. I can work the heavy bag just wearing thin mittens, but not in these gloves.
    A few other things to note:
    1) the thumb position feels great, but it's a bit protruding, and not as protected as in some other gloves, hitting an elbow can lead to an injury.
    2) the padding is quite hard, it's actually very comparable to my Rival mexican bag gloves (which I love), maybe even slightly harder. I prefer softer gloves for sparring, in order to protect my sparring partner. For the same reason I don't by Reyes or any other mexican gloves for sparring, despite a very comfortable fit - they are great for the bag work, as well as for a fight, where you really want to hurt your opponent, but not for sparring.
    So, overall, despite great construction and material, I cannot recommend these gloves. I think there are much better sparring gloves out there, that cost same or even less.

    I notice you said these will be used for your mitt and bagwork.
    Any reason for not getting the bag version (RB11) for that purpose? They're available in 10oz/12oz/14oz.
    And I hear they come in 2 ounces lighter. How much do these actually weigh?

  • @thecutfighting

    dude, these are micro fiber construction, not leather :/

    I also found the same thing as you did with the thumb length in these gloves. Also when securing the wrist the 16oz straps are very long & stick out too much on me (smaller than aversage wrists for my height but still 6ft tall) cos slim make the 14oz dont fit. A straight hit mild power on buckle from elbow/knee can be felt too much for my liking underneath the buckles. Because i do muay thai i got the Rs10v & i prefer the padded old wrist lock version. It can still secure as tight as i want without the hard hidden buckles & old wrist lock has padding back of wrist on strap.

    Many thanks for another great review. I have a budget of around £150 for a pair of quality sparring gloves. The most important thing I’m looking for is hand/wrist protection and a glove that’s not too bulky/has a low profile. Which glove/gloves would you recommend? Thank you for your help.

    • @csquaredboxing
      @csquaredboxing  5 лет назад +1

      I would say the Rival RS100 is a good choice in that price range, and these RS11v gloves.

    What would you choose out of these and the rs2v? What are their differences I’ve been struggling to find an answer.

    • @csquaredboxing
      @csquaredboxing  4 года назад +1

      Rs2v microfiber is smoother, padding not as dense, and the finger compartment is deeper so you can make a fist easier. Also it uses a different velcro strap system and doesn’t have the v strap like the rs11v

      csquaredboxing Thankyou for the quick reply bro, I’ve ordered the RS2V and then wondered if I should have paid the extra £15 for the rs11v, but I think I am going to be happy with either to be fair as I’m coming from a pair of £40 blitz gloves.

    How's the shell? Is it small and compact? And does it feel good when you punch pads? The Gloves I have the shell is kinda bulky makes me feel as if my punch is kinda awkward cause the shells big and bulky, pretty much I'm wondering if it has a slim,small,compact shell(like the part where your punches connect) thanks

      angleofdome3 The shell is nappa style leather. It's pretty compact glove and feels nice for hitting the pads, more of a bouncy feel.

      The Rivals, not a big fan of Hayabusa, mainly because the quality is average, but they charge a lot because of their big marketing campaign. Not a fan of the artificial leather either.

    • @Gernmanik

    • @yalijin3020
      @yalijin3020 5 лет назад

      @@GernmanikYes but only on the Kanpeki model, which is overpriced. The rest is synthetic. A friend of mine bought gloves + shin guards (T3) and after a year the gloves were destroyed (sparring only), while the shin guards still look like new (we practice K1 striking 3 times per week).

    • @jpap967
      @jpap967 4 года назад

      Hayabusa is average at best. They're good at marketing and making attractive looking gloves, but their padding is subpar imo and I do not like the feedback you get from them, that includes the Kanpeki leather version - i did not like them and they were $170... The wrist system is also overly complicated for not much better security. I tried just about every glove and eventually came to the realization that most eventually do: just pony up and get a nice pair of Cleto Reyes with extra padding for bag work

    Rivals are garbage as hell!!! Im not sure if they switched up the protocol, but I had (still have those pieces of shit in my pops' garage) a pair and they were very compact like you said, but the padding is very "hard" and in unnecessary places. I think they were D-30 or something like that.
