Yea I found that absolutely bizarre too. I couldnt figure out why it was so hard to figure out how to "get started" using the addon. It wasnt intuitive at all. cbcstudio to the rescue. Thank you!

Absolute LIFE. SAVOR! The tool has been fantastic to learn, but damn can it be confusing and frustratingly documented. Please continue these breakdowns. I'm not sure if you've done it yet (new to the channel, although I will be subbing now) but the new tunneling system could use this level of breakdowns. It was hair pulling getting it down the first time.
anyone looking for summary of the video : import Easy Roads 3d package right click > 3D Object> Easy roads and make a road add Road object shift + click anywhere on 2 points on ground and road appears Dont ever touch its child objects. Only use Road Network tools to do your work. click on either of dot and hold shift + click on empty part of terrain to extend road. can move and bend roads from these points using transform(W key) i button to make new point in middle of road to create bends Shift + r to delete these points can create another road and move with transform and it will snap to any nearby road with orange dot can add crossing object like u did road object and then same shift + left click to paint rotate connections to rotate this
Others have reported that the editor can have problems if you're using a non standard layout. Try using the default layout, it's the control at the very top right of the editor.
@@cbcstudios thanks for the advice. it DOES work now. Still, the workflow is not very transparent to me (yet), since I don't know how to attach side objects or what my own street chunks need to look like in order to import them...
Nice video but most of the issues of the people using this asset is when the terrain is not flat. If you have your terrain set up and sculpted, and your map mostly set up with rivers, hills, mountains, and you try to place roads and intersections, the whole thing end up being messed up. Use this asset is an exercise in frustration to be honest; and mostly due to the fact that there are no in-depth tutorials that show the usage in real case scenarios. Hope you will make more complex videos with this assets, thanks for your time. You are doing what the asset developer should have been doing
For basics Terrain is too complex for that. My main use case *is* with terrains. For real-world terrains it can be tricky if the quality of the terrain is low. But mostly the trick is that the road doesn't show its real position until baked.
When I click on Crossing, this message appears : Crossing prefabs for Free version will follow, I downloaded the free version Indeed. So prefabs are not available yet ?
Nice tutorial! My big problem is that when i try to add the points with shift + mouse button it just selects the object. I hjave the same problem with other assets. Do you have any idea of what i might do wrong? :(
One more real quick question, when I try to combine 2 different road objects, I just see red circle instead of blue, what might be the reason behind that? @cbcstudio

Thing is REALLY bugging me! I am working with EasyRoads Pro edition. When I try to run a Playmode I get the answer "All Compiler Errors have to be fixed before you can enter Playmode". I assume this is a Scripting problem and I have tried EVERYTHING to debug it (it is one of the E/R scripts). How do I find it and how do I fix it?
I've certainly seems this after I've accidentally moved something outside of the Network Manager or incorrectly created a side-object/road type. Try to export the Network into a new project.
Is there any plans on making a tutorial that covers something like what was made in the Windridge asset in the asset store? They include parking areas, curbs, traffic barriers, and a myriad of other elements that don'e appear to be present in the regular package.
I have a big problem. I am working on a game that requires a lot of road and I bought this asset. I figured out how it works because I used the free version in the past. When I try to create a road after placing the second dot unity closes instantly and sometimes it crashes when I add the Road Network to the scene. Do you know what causes that?
Not seen that before, the only incompatibility I've seen is that is when it doesn't work with custom editor layouts (typically the option drop-down at the top right of the editor). Try that in 'default' otherwise report it to the developer.

Sounds like you might be seeing the layout problem. Make sure your Unity Editor layout is set to default (the drop down at the top right of the screen)

It's likely it has a problem with your editor layout. Try resetting it to the default layout (typically top right of the editor window). Also make sure Gizmos button is on (typically top/middle)
What about scale? I have been looking for a road component forever. Got my town nicely mapped out in Unity, now want roads. Does this drop a road in out of scale, ie like a piece of string or something like 100 meters wide? In other words, how easy is it to scale? Thanks.

It seems that the y position is the same as the terrain and does not look like yours at all (it was actually sand-colored). When I go into the Road Object that I'm never supposed to touch, it lets me apply transform changes to the y position so I can see the road. Curious if you have an idea of what I'm doing wrong. @@cbcstudios yeah, I think I got the height issue figured out for the most part. A lot of the problems are stemming from my using URP and having to set up the materials. I really just want to build a simple road system with sidewalks but can't seem to figure out how to add sidewalks by default. When I try to pull out the T crossings, the sidewalks do not extend as they do in your video. I purchased the HD/LWRP addon to try and get URP support but the materials are all very wonky. EDIT - I found the dots that need to be selected in order to extend the sidewalks, still unsure how to add sidewalks to road segments though. Thanks again for everything, this is going to take time to get good at but it's obviously very powerful and helpful in the long-run. Your videos are essential

@@cbcstudios I think I found it! I have to make custom side objects for each side's sidewalks (L/R), they have to be procedural mesh objects and align relative to the sides of the road. I personally like the simpler looking road from the default and would prefer to use that but if I have to use the ER... ones then so-be-it

EASYROADS3D Pro: Does ANYONE know how to create a road across multiple terrains? I have a world that has numerous terrains, and I turn these terrains on and off, based on where the player is. What I need is a road that turns on and off based on the players position on a terrain, Basically, I need to have each road on each terrain, so that when a player is on a certain terrain, the road turns OFF on the other Terrains. I have looked on the EasyRoads3d website for tutorials on doing this, but no help. So far, I am trying to create a road on each terrain, but have not had a chance to test this. EXAMPLE: I have a grid of 10 terrains (1000 units each) by 10 terrains, and when the player is on, say Terrain45, the surrounding terrains are turned on: IE: Terrain45.SetActive(true), but the other terrains are turned off: IE: Terrain01.SetActive(false), Terrain02.SetActive(false), etc |==========|=========|==========|===========| | Terrain44 | 45 | 46 | 47 | |==========|=========|==========|===========| | 54 | Terrain55 | 56 | 57 | |==========|=========|==========|===========| | 64 | 65 | 66 | 67 | |==========|=========|==========|===========| So, when player is standing in Terrain55, (Terrains 44, Terrain45, Terrains46), (Terrains54, Terrains55, Terrains56), and (Terrains64, Terrains65, Terrains66) are ALL TURNED ON, BUT (Terrains47, Terrain57, and Terrains67) are TURNED OFF. What am I doing wrong? I can shift click as much as I want, Unity will always just select the terrain. It does not build any roads or set nodes.

Typically it's a problem with ER and the layout. Try using the default unity editor layout (normally layout is at the top right)

Typically this is a problem with ER and the Unity Editor layout. Try switching back to the default Unity Editor (usually the top right of you screen)

how to fix road blur? The road gets too blurry a few units away from the camera and unfortunately I couldn't fix it.

You can scale like any game object and/or create road types of different sizes
