Madlittlepixel take it apart & pi0 & better screen & rechargeable battery & more buttons
Put a pi in the case and consolize the rest of it...
Madlittlepixel redo it with a zero and set it up and have your little mini arcade
I am interested in seeing it
I bought one of these for myself to put a raspberry zero in, but my daughter decided she liked it the way it came but she is 4.
So, it seems this was over a year ago, I was hoping you were going to convert it to use a PI.
Disthron I was thinking same
A Raspberry Pi Zero with all possible MAME games is a great suggestion, lad. If you can find more of those, do them for all MAME versions only so they are the real arcade games, but smaller. Then you can sell them on Ebay. MAME is the best of them all because it is the real arcade thing.
A pi zero isn't that powerful so you would be limited I think to games from the 70s and 80s and that's it. Still, it's a fun concept.
Yeah chuck a pie in it 😎🙏🏽
I picked up the "Multicade 230" during christmas sales at Dollar General for $15 with a coupon. Luckily my store had a demonstrator and I immediately bought it when I found out it had rom hacks of Galaga, Mappy, Arkanoid and other NES games. It would be cool if one of the RetroPie case makers made a similar case or cloned the old Coleco cases.
This is the last we will see of this 'project'.
I got one of those at a Wal-Mart, as well. The crane prize game in the lobby, though. It's full of those odd Chinese games that never quite match the worst of what an 80's Nintendo game could be. But, the very fact that something like this works so well for so little is an amazing notion about modern tech. It definitely makes the first step towards a cool R. Pi project.
An actual ribbon cable that runs to the controller. That surprises me. Thought it would have been mere loose wires.
Nice, I like the idea MLP! Not a bad inexpensive shell to work with for a build. Thanks for the video!
If you hold a-b down it puts it into a system diagnostics mode
What does that do?is it permanent?
Looking forward to seeing what you do. I have one and it sucks.
Aboslutely!! Definitely try doing it!! I am very curious.
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
LOL ,"he said my little bit wouldn't fit in there"!;-) 7:45
Send it to ETA prime. He'd get it working
I feel it's no problem at all to reuse the control board, just wire it up to GPIO.
For that matter, reusing the screen is a bit tougher, but might be possible too, just need to try out the protocols ans pinouts for all screens of same resolution and same connector, something should work. Figuring whether the pinout matches should be a breeze to trace out the ground and supply connections, and sync signals can be picked up even with a $16 JYEtech toy scope. HX8347D? The screen might be 2.8", but part of it might be bezelled off and not used.
I wish we had this in Europe, would pick right up for up to about 10€ and start reverse engineering. I have Pi Zero units too.
I think the system is a NOAC, one of those handheld ones, since they don't need a shift register to read the gamepad, they can do it directly, and they can directly address a simple LCD, and are just about the cheapest way to go. They no longer directly match the NES hardware capabilities, they also have expanded graphics modes with wider palette and such things. It should be easy enough to confirm, since it appears to run off an SPI ROM, you can just use a $3 test clamp and a $2 CH341A to read it out, and for that matter, possibly reprogram it.
Siana Gearz Thabks for the insight! Very interesting indeed. Kind of figure its a NOAC. I mean why bother making something new rite?
Well my little arcade works perfect I got mine at the dollar store for $3 I have no problems with the one I have you must have got a bad one and I think it does very well for the price you can't beat it very well-made arcade for $3
The parts you would most likely be able to use if you hook up a raspberry pi is possibly the screen and battery. in it and I don't even know if you can use the screen so you'd most likely only be able to use the battery.
Do it...and make a tutorial. I have one mini arcade myself ...i also have full size arcade running Retropie, but I would not know how to connect and configure the joystick and buttons. For my Retropie i bought a kit with controller board and wires and i was basically plug and play.
@Madlittlepixel did you decide to take on the project? Any progress?
The atari mini arcade is $5 dollars too at my local wallmart....good for a pi project
I think I have a dutch store version of it from the “Hema”. I think it just replaced the stickers and added their branding onto everything. Hema needs to explain something… oh, and they sold it to people for 15€.
@madlittlepixel: Did you ever do anything more with this toy? I just picked up something similar for a buck at a thrift store and was wondering about reusing the I/O (screen, speaker, joystick) with a Pi.
I have this little machine plus one that plays Dig Dug and another one that plays Tetris.
I'd love to see what kind of magic you could work with that. It's funny. I picked one of those up not too long ago myself. I can't resist anything like that. Have you picked up all of the retro mini cab games at Wal-Mart (centipede, qbert, rampage, etc.)? I have. I'm such a sucker. Lol.
Joshua Ekstedt I got a few of them. I did a couple videos a while back. Only got the ones that had full color screens with an actual game rom. Rampage, Joust, Frogger, Q*Bert. Pretty awesome. Gonna double check if those are clearanced out next time lol
Madlittlepixel lol. I know at ours the asteroids one is clearanced for 12 bucks. Not bad.
I printed a nba jam arcade decal and wrapped it......looks awesome! To bad no nba jam game to play on it :(
Nice! I picked up a couple of those for my desk and at home as decoration. Never put batteries in them because the games looked like jank.
Best of luck with the conversion!
Neo Geo Red arcade cab with neo Geo pocket games on the Pi mini!
Have you made the arcade pi zero yet
i take it you never pied up your arcade? was hoping you had was curious how it turned out... 😔
4:45 that's what she said
Get some thin wood and replicate the box design then you can enlarge any part you want (screen)
I want to make a mini laptop with the old chip and screen after the year(s) the control pad caved in I've got a few cracks.
I left mine in my kitchen most of this year so the residual grease in the air coated it upon everything else its a cool machine most of the bootlegs you would know are between 60 and 115 I believe
oh man i want one of those, that looks fun
If you have an old android phone gut it and use that SOC as the board.
You can do it!!!!!!!
Maybe an orangepie lite will fit in it? Will have Bluetooth and WiFi built in at around $20.
Do it! If the stick is good for old 2 button games or arcade frogger 1942 gunsmith pacman then it will be cool & I'll covert my money box that has the same design only you have to put a coin in to play! (Has a nasty black n white lcd though)
I want one with 1942 and sunset riders
I think you should carefully put it all back together, and then make one of those videos where you smash it with a hammer 🔨
maybe try putting up a piece of cardboard or a sheet in the background next time....keep what you are looking at in focus so it makes sense to the view...
Do a how to pi build. Thatta be awesome.
Hell yeah go for it mlp
Is there any updates to this? I would love to see a conversion...
Find the storage and install nee games on it
Is there a way to make the joystick and buttons work for anything else?
Hello, do you have the reference of the screen
So crazy I was literally looking at these last night on ebay, around £20 new £10 used. Wish I could get one for the price you paid.
I've been keeping my eye on these for a Pi case for a while but it seems here in the UK they are still being sold at silly prices. I did get hold of an Arcadie iPad Mini for £10 off ebay, and I am hoping to do a mini Pi arcade with that, but the case on this one that @Madlittlepixel is showing looks a lot easier to hack, and I reckon a full size Pi would fit in there without too much trouble.
@@MrJozza65 just picked one up at debenhams for £12.50.. might come down more after christmas.
@@freetipuk thanks for the heads up, I will be off to my local Debenhams tomorrow to see if they have any left.
Absolutely!
Turn it into a mame emulator
that looks like a sick little project u got going on. For 5 bucks it seems ok but anymore than that heck no!!!! Great vid man i see this all the time at family dollar and wondered what it was like out of curiosity
I'm getting one of those
Got one to do exactly that to it...but just hadn't got around to it
Hmm, it always bothered me that these dollar tree game consoles always have the A and B buttons reversed. It's B then A not A then B.
Hey it would be a great mini-modding project :-)
DO IT! Swine Apple Mini!
Yes pie it lol 👍👍👍
i never seen one at Walmart here in canada
Do it!!😎
Hi I'm 11 years old and i need help with this arcade machine. I'm trying to but a raspberry pi in that arcade machine and i want to know how .Please help me i need help! I want to reuse the screen and controls.
Did you ever do anything with this?
I found this at a lokal supermarket and it wass €22 and ofkours my pubesent brain was like yo i need this now...
Im nevver geting that monny back
Still got the receipt? Return it.
I have this one
LoL you had me tense with that exacto knife... bro just 3d print a case and make it your next project 👍... put it back together and slam it with a hammer on your next video..make it your weekly/monthly crap destruction LoL
I have a few of those myarcade games
Basically a famiclone.
VTXX one chips NES, VTXX.
Use nes maker to inject game rom.
Show me how and I’ll do it too
Oh yeah, this crap toy could be a nice Mini Mame cab with a zero/w. There are many of these new, cheep recreations being sold at Wal-Mart with lots of potential.
DO IT
That a good idea 💡put apizero
It’s not by dream gear my arcade is the brand
I believe they used to be called Dream Gear, then rebranded themselves. A lot of their old stuff has Dream Gear on it.
Just keep on jiggling that screen. I swear, folding over that tab like that, yikes!
27 dollar now...
I have one great for me
I have that but but it cost £10
The game are quite fun though. Well there is 200 games
Looks like the inside of a arcade 1up, crap.
Melted plastic is cheap and lazy. That is why it is $5.
and the employes only get paid a bowl of rice....
I installed Android on it
How?
@Madlittlepixel what’s happened with your Mini Arcade cabinet Project with a Raspberry Pi zero/w instead of this crap inside? 🤔🫣
It would be very nice if you make some project like that? What do you think? 🤔
