People who haven't played the game are missing out. It's some of the most innovative game play I've ever experienced.

I’ve been collecting 10 different TCGs in the past year or so and Sorcery is the best. Best in art, gameplay, and mechanics and the foils are incredible and the box openings are amazingly exciting.

The best part of Sorcery is thay the number of available cards in a playset goes down as rarity goes up. To collect a full playset, you only need one of each unique and two of each Elite.

I think the slower/less print cycle for set releases will help with the collectibility. You’ll have time to focus on the set before a new set is released every 2-3 months like other games.

Will also help on the quality. Gives the creators more time to playtest and commission beautiful artwork for the cards. Just my assumption but it could also mean bigger sets like the base set having so many different cards.

The initial limited card pool, slow releases and lack of tournament support to drive competitive play are death knells for this game. Personally, I think Phil stone and the Cores should not have been created since they will automatically eat up a few slots of your 40 each time, unless you want to play a weaker deck.

I think the biggest thing that will make Sorcery a long term collectable that maintains value (do i dare say “investable”) is if the game is actually good. This game is EXCELLENT!!! I enjoy this game more than Magic and that is what I hope resonates with people as they play. No new set every 2-3 months. Just a good long year to “collect” your set goals and really dive into the gameplay of the set. I personally and doing a binder set of Beta (missed out on Alpha), graded PCG 9 or greater foil dual lands, graded PCG 9 or greater foil dragons, and Long Term goal of PCG 9 or greater Alchemy Nine. I luckily pulled a foil Onyx Core in my first Beta Box!

The thing about Sorcery is that I knew from the start, even if the game would fail, I so enjoy the cards that I would be happy with my collection and the cards to play regardless.
I still have one alpha box sealed. If ultimately the game tanks (which I don't think) but if it does then I still have a great product I can play with in the future.

I love that the set is so big, but not unattainable for NF sets that it makes it a perfect challenge to get it all. That, and the game is actually really good. I was drawn in by the art and trying to collect the set but I was actually worried I wouldn't like the game itself... when I finally got to play I was all in.
As far as unique collections, I have my "every print" collection of Bone rabble, and I was able to grab some APs when the stars aligned... oh and the promos, pledge pack, Champion, etc.
    Awesome vid!

Totally agree. Not only is the art gorgeous but there are so many different cards to love and collect. I’m working on an alpha/beta mixed set and didn’t realize how many cards I was missing until sorting the other day. Massive set, but I’m pumped about cracking a third box and then picking up the singles I need. Can’t wait for Arthurian Legends! Thanks for another great video buddy.

I was able to join the kickstarter for a box and the precons. So, no alpha collecting for me BUT i have been buying a few boxes of beta and i think i will go for 1 non foil set. One of my boxes even had a Curio (avatar of Water sketch) so I have an extra showpiece there.

I'd love to have a complete set of one of everything (non-foil base set, each curio, each promo card, etc) but that is an expensive proposition. I also include in one of everything the error variants like Alpha foil Immortal Throne or Beta foil Courtesan Thais which have text errors on them that make them different from the non-foil versions. I add to the collection as I can but don't actually expect I'll get there because I can't justify spending $1k on a curio, or Relentless Crowd, or Crown Sorcerer (which I actually fully expect will not turn out to be all that rare as the game grows and more official events are held and more are given out, but I could be wrong).

Collected both a set and a playset (2 of each unique, 3 of each elite, etc) of Alpha. Plan to collect a set and playset of each expansion set also. Sets go into the binder, playsets to build decks and play with.
Currently working on a full collection of alpha foils even though I'll never finish it.
Looking forward to more box openings!

The chase is one of the best things in collecting. I remember my pleasure when I finally assembled the 40 revised dual land playset from MTG a couple of years ago. Now I am hunting for a 10 dual land set of Unlimited (a WHOLE other level of difficulty, Unlimited duals have nearly disappeared from the marekt, and the copies you sometimes see emerge are HP or downright damaged, and for my set I need them to at least look decent even if played). I have recently got two of my missing ones and now I am only missing Scrubland.

I've opened one box of each (A&B) and think I did alright. 2 Unique foils out of Alpha and one from Beta. Already know I'll never financially be able to complete a foil set of either (reality) but a complete set of non-foils isn't impossible so that's what I think I'm going for. My foils? Well......lol, I won't need them. But they are pretty 😁

I was hoping the game would pick up in my area since we have one of the most active TCG scenes in the country with 10+ LGSs in the area and regular tournaments for even some of the most obscure games, but it’s unfortunately landed dead on arrival with zero stores in my area supporting any local events. The collectibility seems promising nonetheless, but I’m a 99% player, 1% collector type, so it looks like I’ll have to play online if I’m going to play at all.

I've collected an Alpha Playset (including 2 sets of A9 and 6 Eric's Curiosas) I'm curious to see if that card becomes the most valuable regular-set card in a few years. Also working on a playset of Beta (have all the valuable/playables - but still have some Unique gaps). Two notes: One thing I wish we had more of is communication from Eric regarding intentions for reprints and how he plans to balance accessibility/collectability (without enough cards game will die due to nobody to play with, but this is a COLLECTABLE game). Also: for people concerned about the delays between releases a game CAN hold interest without new sets every few months. Look at Old School Magic players. Though every year seems like ages between sets... I would prefer 2 releases a year. Won't break the bank but will have enough influx of new cards to the game to keep it fresh. What we really need is an announcement about a Revised set release.

I ripped an Avatar of Water sketch. Sold immediately, moved money to ETF's. Sketch value is down a LOT, ETF's are up quite a bit. You can always rebuy the card in a few months when the price bottoms out.
Holding the card the entire time means you are giving up money since, as more Beta is opened, all of the prices will fall. It always happens this way. There is no guarantee that prices will rise in the future.

I enjoy opening up packs for the thrill of getting that chase card. I've opened up boxes of Lorcana, One Piece, Pokemon, MTG and now Sorcery in the past month. Sorcery was the only box opening that left me wanting more. The game play is great and I can't wait to try a multiplayer format once they print mats for that. I love the Dust system and hope we can get exclusive promos with that dust. I got in at the beginning of beta but I've already bought one box of alpha along with the precon decks.

I love SCR because they give you the feeling of old MTG. Getting a whole set is a thrilling experience. Getting a foil set is near damn impossible. And it should be! Opening a foil unique SHOULD be a real "magical" moment for anyone. 99% of people will only open very few boxes of each release, so their hits will be seared in their memory forever. I also love the one release per year pace. I am HATING MTGs incessant releases and 20 different variants of each card. Also curios are a fun thing.
