That you very much for this! I didn't realise how hard I needed to push though. Polaroid's own video is shot from across the room so this is a huge upgrade!
Thanks for doing this demo, I saw on their site that a lot of people were having trouble installing it because the instructions on the pack weren't clear. This is a good video reference for anyone who is planning on putting a frog tongue on their sx-70.
Just got my Sx70 today. Do you need to use a film pack first before you can fit the frog tongue as I guess the dark slide comes out when you put the pack in. Or can you fit it after the film is fitted? Did the original Sx70 use a frog tongue as I never recall seeing it when I used to sell the camera way back in the 70's!
Ideally, you'd have a dark slide from a previously exposed pack of film. You'll want to put the frog tongue in BEFORE you insert the film pack. I would think any small piece of cardboard would work. Like a coaster from a bar or similar. Or you can just bypass the frog tongue altogether for this pack of film. Just immediately after the picture is ejected, place it upside down on a table or in a pocket. You don't want any additional light hitting the emulsion during the first few minutes of the development process. And you're right, these cameras in the 70's didn't have this frog tongue. The current film is using a completely new/made from scratch formula using chemicals available today. Polaroid had a lot of pull (money) back in the day to have chemicals specially made for them. Whereas Impossible (now Polaroid Originals) did not have such pull. Oh and once you put the film pack into the camera, you don't want to open up the film door until all of the exposures are gone. You'll risk exposing all of the images at once.
Cheers. I think I might have an old SX70 photo from way back so will see if I can find that and use it. Its great that Impossible are reviving and reinventing this analogue technology
Hello, thank you for your video. One question please, when you have done to set up the frog tongue, then everyrhing is ok when you close your camera ? I mean the tongue is visible outside or goes inside the camera. Thank you 😊
I know this video is old at this point. My recent findings current formulations of Polaroid film is that they don't seem to be as sensitive to light as they used to be once they come out of camera. Whether I have the camera the Frog tongue or not I typically put the photo in a dark place right away for at least the first 15 minutes.
Still can’t figure out how to do it. The video is too fast, does not show the orientation of the tongue and the dark slide and the fingers block the view.
I am SOOOOO depressed that a technology could simply disappear in the 21st CENTURY!!! No knock on the Impossible boys who rescued the last vestige of Polaroid film machinery, but how the hell is this possible? For god's sake, that spring-loaded flap that you call the black 'thing' IS the original anti-light-piping device! It is to weep....
THANK YOU! You're the only video so far that actually shows how to do this.

I swear to almighty, this is still one of the only videos on youtube showing how to properly install this lol /salute

My Sweet Rampage Thank you! I saw those same comments too when I bought the tongue. I figured this would help somebody else out in the future.
This video helped me more than Polaroid video on how to do it smh thank you
Great clear instruction and visuals to walk through installation!! Thanks!!
Thank you! I’ve had one of these frog tongues sitting in my drawer for years and I’ve finally installed it ☺️
Thanksss, best video for frog tongue
Super helpful! Applicable to the new Polaroid brand frog tongues
Thank you for this. Impossible's video is useless.
Thanks! So much better than the explanation provided on the package :)
Seriously, thanks for posting this!!

dude! thank you for this!!!
Does this prevent it from dropping the photos on the ground? They spit out way too fast for me to catch them
If the camera spit the photo to the ground the metal sheet that support it when takes tbe photo and it goes out, is bended

The official Polaroid video was all style no substance. This video was much more helpful.
So the tongue always just sits there rolled-up? That's not going to last long.
Thank you! Impossible created a video but it did not help one bit.
oh...... the frog tongue stays outside.......
