These are great videos Bryce. Well done. Small point - many people (including myself) choose to deadlift in the super centurion because it doesn't ride up and is a stiffer material and thus will provide more support off the floor then deadlift suits like the velocity (but as a tradeoff will be less forgiving on positioning at lockout). Excited for episode 4!
This is really good/cool insight Adam thank you for sharing! Maybe we’ll have to get you back on the channel for this series, any upcoming trips to YYC?
Thank you. I've been Powerlifting for 20 years and lifting for 30, but just got my first Inzer Deadlift suit. I'm jacked to see what I can do with this! Best RAW conventional Deadlift was 510lbs at 181lbs.
Can you make a tutorial how to lift equipped? Especially the deadlift suit is so hard to master because we have to fight against the suit before even reaching the bar. My back is always rounded as fuck.
Hello Bryce! I’m preppin’ for my first equipped meet and I m really having problems breaking in and understanding the deadlift suit. The Squat Suit and the Bench shirt work very fine, but the suit has a lot of cues: it puts me in a rounded position, i can t get any brace and i loose position, always over the bar. I tried a lot of things ( blocks, reverse bands) but I still can t get it, at heavy loads i always end up loosing my position at midrange and miss the lift, with weight that I would normally do raw. I use a velocity sumo stance, And because I m afraid of bombing out, i will pull raw next week for deadlifts, as I don think it will help me in this instance. Also to add, that I ussually don t have the problem of pulling fast any weight and my sticking point was always midrange, so probably the suit won’t help me a lot. What’s your opinion and any good advices for understanding in the future of the suit? Thanks in advance.
Any suggestions on getting into position in the deadlift suit? I put mine deadlift suit on for the first time and had difficulty getting down to the bar. Great stuff as always, Thanks
I have a meet in 5 weeks and I just switched to equipped Bc I needed to use knee wraps due to tendonitis. On my deadlift, I can’t get down to the bar. What is something I can do to get myself down to the bar so I can begin to deadlift in a suit
Bryce , since most people use block pulls as a form of overload, or increased volume at high intensity, would a deadlift suit work well for a person who competes raw but is weaker off of any reasonable block height? I attribute a lot of my bench progress to the slingshot, thinking the same can go for other lifts
I might be completely wrong about this but i have found that using equipment is like using bands in the sense that you can overload a certain part of the lift while still getting the full rom. You also get the benefit of just holding the weight like in squat you get used to much higher weights so when you max raw it "feels" lighter.
Three part question: 1) Scott Mendelson said that equipped is harder than raw because minor weight fluctuations can greatly effect the benefit of a suit. Can you speak to this? Does losing a few lbs or gaining a few make a big difference? 2) how much do most people get out of a suit? 110, 120, 130% of 1rm? 3) How does a suit actually work? Is it just material that is rather stiff, and will naturally want to spring back, or is there something I’m missing? Thanks!!!
Imo yes the suited lifts are a lot harder, immensely so. As far as carryover, deadlift suits are really minimal possibly nothing depending on your sticking point. Squats with knee wraps can add 50 to 100 with proper manipulation. The bench shirt is a totally different beast, hundreds of extra lbs are possible but take a lot of practice and technique to even attempt
@@simondean5227 this is a kinda late reply but, it depends if where your sticking point is. If you are weak off the floor you would get more out of it bit if you have a weak lockout then the suit wouldnt help at all. Also having it be 2 ply would mean that as well as getting more power off of the floor it would also be much harder to get into position which means it would have more of a learning curve.
Kind of stupid and really stupid questions here: Can you deadlift in a squat suit during a competition? And can you bench in a squat suit during a competition? I don't have the money to spend on a deadlift suit. As for the bench, I was actually originally sent a squat suit that was a size too big. So it's kinda useless for squatting, but I like to wear it during the bench press. For some reason, probably just psychological/mental, I feel like I can engage my legs more for leg drive during the bench press when I wear the squat suit during bench.
What are your thoughts on the taper week of a peak? Most people tell you to rest and hit like 50 or 60%, but your program has things as high as 85% after openers in that final week. I was curious what drove you to that conclusion for your program?
Sumo or conventional? Either way it varies a fair bit - some people actually pull less in a suit than raw even after learning it - but you never get anything like what you get out of a suit while squatting and sumo usually gets more than conventional. But I'd be surprised if a 500lb raw sumo puller got 50lbs out of his suit and a conventional puller might be lucky to get 30.
I bought all 3 suits used for £240 with knee wraps. Will try them out in near future. This series is really cool, not that much info about equipped. As a personal note about the video, it’s super well edited but I personally feel the intro is a bit too long, if it were 10s shorter it’d feel much more fluent in my opinion!
Another great episode ! I've heard the purpose of wearing it backward is to not use/damage the suit on the front side even more. So squats with the front side then deadlift with the back side. What does EBT means by the way !
From what I know, you are right in a regard. With the Cent or Super cent the suit is cut the same front/back, so reversing the suit is to have a different wear pattern. However with some of the older suits/lower level suits, they are cut different. The back is higher, so reversing the suit is suppose to give more support.
The content on this channel looks so good you might as well upload on Pornhub

@@calgarybarbell I'll be in town in May and would love to contribute. Keep up the great work.
1:25 why I wear my sq suit backwards is simply because the front of the suit is less stretched than the back.

I'm only an raw lifter, but sometimes I do my deadlift in an power rack with bands up (works also)
Great content, you deserve so much subscribers😉
I've heard the reasoning for reversing the squat suit is to mitigate wear on it... whether it actually does to any significant degree.. eh.
I just got the Florida Vacation Tee that he is wearing. It's sick

How much added weight can you deadlift in a suit? For example if you deadlift 500 raw what can you do in a suit? Asking for a friend lol
I think for Bryce it adds around 10-15kg (20-35lbs).
For me it gives like. 20-25kg . but i took me lika 6 weeks of training to get how to lift in it
