  • A complete guide to setting up Pico Scope 7 to perform a Relative Compression test using voltage only. Included as a bonus is how to setup a cylinder sync. How to save and recall the custom setup. I also use and amp clamp to display that there are no differences between the voltage and amperage waveform.

    I'm working on some more Pico 7 video ideas coming in the future.

    Just watched the whole Pico playlist. I've had my Pico since last May. Downloaded the software and was immediately intimidated with all the features. I have only used it sparingly due to this. Now I feel confident and can't wait to use it. Thanks and great job explaining everything perfectly.

    Very High Quality Video.
    Like about video is that you show alll basics step with wiring diagram , direction of clamp , fuel system which i missed in all other video.
    Hoping for more videos on scopes.

    Great Video... thanks for sharing.. are you going to make a series for Pico 7 like you did it for Pico 6? that would be awesome....thanks again. have a great day

    Good morning Drive line master. i woke up this morning and look at this video on youtube.
    I have a couple question? Could i save this video and go back at a later time and try this out with my PicoScope 4425A?
    The resend that i am asking is because i have a PicoScope on the shield chinning dust .
    Let me know,
    Best Regards.

    For Ignition Sync, can a Coil-on-plug ignition probe (inductive sensor/paddle probe) be used instead of back-probing Cylinder #1 Coil?

    • @DrivelineMaster
      @DrivelineMaster  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes you can use the inductive paddle probe and you don't have to be on Cylinder #1 if it is difficult to access just count off the firing order starting with the cylinder you synced off of.

    at 6:09, bandwidth limit is set to 20khz to remove nose. i use OTC 60 amp current clamp is the same applicable for this. Pico cope bandwidth is 20MHZ, are we reducing picoscope bandwidth from 20MHZ to 20 KHZ OR AM i missing something

    • @DrivelineMaster
      @DrivelineMaster  2 месяца назад

      This is a hardware filter built into the Pico Scope and is not related to which amp clamp you are using. There is often a lot of noise associated with amp clamps. This filter removes noise and signals that are above 20kHz. You can do the test without using this setting but waveform interpretation can be more difficult due to excessive unnecessary noise from the amp clamp. Try it both ways, you can't hurt anything.

    Hi can i use this pico rellative compression test to test leaky intake or exhaust valves?.. can i also use this to test head gasket falure resulting in adjacent cylinders leak

    • @DrivelineMaster
      @DrivelineMaster  2 месяца назад

      The relative compression test compares the compression of each cylinder to all the other cylinders. A small leak due to head gasket or valve sealing might be difficult to detect. It all depends on how much the compression is reduced from the leak. If the valve or head gasket is bad enough to cause a misfire there is a good chance you can detect some abnormalities with this test.

      @@DrivelineMaster Thank you. have you ever used pressure transducer in cylinder to diagnor either head gasket or valve leaks.

    • @DrivelineMaster
      @DrivelineMaster  2 месяца назад

      Yes the WPS-500 pressure transducer is fabulous in-cylinder testing, Manifold vacuum testing, Exhaust pulse testing and all sorts of fluid pressure testing up to 500 PSI.

    Can pico 2004 do this?

    • @DrivelineMaster
      @DrivelineMaster  8 месяцев назад

      I have never heard of Pico 2004 software. The precursor to Pico 7 was Pico 6. If you are using Pico 6 software you can also perform this test with PS6 software. Most scopes with an AC coupling feature can do this.
