Very helpful as I navigate my very first pair of Merrell minimalist shoe. 20 year old bunionectomy that has developed painful arthritis and I need to splay my toes for optimal comfort. Baby bunion on the other foot but I’m not considering a bunionectomy. Off to my foot doctor for a new pair of orthotics for my minimalist shoes!
Agree. Also, the things she adds to the orthotics (heel lift and cushioning) to compensate the use of a minimalist shoe makes the shoe basically a normal cushioned shoe again. 🤷🏻♂️
@@andrewknight6244 My docter prescribed me custom orthotics in Germany and it cost me 30€ to have them made. I could have gone cheaper but I wanted the best and most comfortable ones available. I agree if you are in constant pain and $500 will fix it, I would pay it (and be very thankfull if it helps). Heck if I was in constant pain and I had to pay my whole life savings to make it better I likely would, but I think that is exactly the point since it just feels a little like exploiting people in suffering.
I wish I knew about this earlier. I buy men's shoes because my orthotics make my foot too tall to wear women's lower profile shoes. Ugh. Unfortunately my insurance changed my foot doctor part way through getting my orthotics and so I wasn't able to address problems with the fit with the doctor who made the orthotics. I wish orthotics weren't so insanely expensive and NOT covered by insurance. 😤
You have a very comprehensive understanding of feet and shoes!

500 dollars for an orthotic is just madness/robbery.
Agree.

Not when you have a 1" leg length discrepancy and spend your whole life in pain!

Damn that 500$ got me.
What about leg discrepancy? I have developed one and have done all to avoid orthotics but I think I have to give in . What are your thoughts?
Can I use them to cure intoe gait
