Sample Science Lesson - Junior HighSchool Science - Separating an iron, sand and salt mixture

- In this video, Jacob Strickling presents a sample Science video lesson aimed at the Junior High School age.
A mixture is first made from salt, sand and iron filings.
Using a magnet, the iron filings are separated from the mixture.
The remaining sand and salt mixture has water added to it in order to dissolve the salt.
This mixture is then filtered using a filter funnel, retort stand and filter paper.
Finally the filtrate (salty water) is evaporated using a watch glass and a water bath to gently recover the salt.
This video is intended to demonstrate to education content providers such as distance education organisations and online education providers that it is possible for students to do actual hands-on experiments if that have suitable equipment and are led clearly through the practical by an experience Science teacher.
