Lovely...I had put it in ground before I saw this video, they are not doing well...I well try your method. Thanks for the clear instructions, seed to harvest!🙏
I'm a noob at this. I didn't follow any soil, compust, w.ever else recommendations I've ever watched. I just used the dirt in my back yard, & eggshells to plant w.ever I had in the fridge. Well, besides for my cheery tomatoes. But someone left a soiled pot behind when I moved in here, & I used that for my cheery tomatoes. .. & honestly? I didn't think anything would grow. But everything is. Even the garlic that's drowning in rain water. I apparently didn't put it in deep enough, or I didn't use enough dirt. Also, the green onions I thought was dying out. It's covid 19 times, & I've lost track of time. But my cheery tomatoes look at 3:36 stage. 😯👍, It's working. It's really working 👏! I'll pat myself on the back for this 😁💃
Wow ...we can squeeze the seeds directly from those store bought tomatoes n let it grow higher,n closer together than what i tried....a lot easier ,your way! (I m new at this) thx for posting! Great vid , peace! 💙
Please show us how to separate every seedling from each other without destroying the roots. Also are you gonna plant every seedling ? or are you throwing them out ?
I think you have no other choice but to pull them together and then separate gently and replant in the soil. This happens when you plant them close together via the seeds. Best thing to do is to separate them by a few inches or just plant seeds in a small individual cups so that you can have quite a few germinations and then pot or sow them into a raised bed.
Be gentle with them. Take your time if you have to. I recently had to transplant mine to a larger container, and I was so worried I would damage them. I did ot as described, and they all are doing very well. Happy planting
@@HopeAngel777 actually I broke the stem of my tomato seedling, only the outer skin was attached, it still can be planted but need to wait the wound heal and new root system regrow. it will be stunted for a while, but as soon as the roots grow, the tomato plants will continue grow its top normally. as long as the top tip/shoot don't come off, the tomato will still grow like nothing happened. I have tried it, cut the top, the tomato plant stop growing upward. and sometimes trimming off the root hair will make the plant produce even more roots hair. that's what we do when replant the big fruit plant to a bigger container, trim off the roots, change the soil and put in the new bigger container.
I too want to grow tomatoes but the last time I planted them, they only flowered and the plants died after sometime. Your videos makes me want to try again.
Really wonderful complete video. Thank you so much!! Trader Joes had some heirloom cherry tomatoes that were all kinds of jewel tones. They were beautiful on my salad against a white plate. I think I am going to use your method with a few of those tomatoes. The colors were so striking (burgundy, purple, yellow, and lime green).
Just take seeds out, wash excess 'gel' off in a sieve, dry seeds in a tray or saucer for day then plant in separate plastic cups a couple of mm under soil, keep moist, and seedlings will spring up after approx 5-7 days
From all the seeds that germinated did you transplant them all into separate pots or did you just pick the best looking plant to grow from all the seeds? Great vids bruh
The very important thing to start planting is to be patient, i just strart planting, my chillies and tomatoes already grow but it is still so small and i still have to wait aproximately 3-5 months for it to produce fruit
I planted seeds from one small tomato. I just transplanted. 65 seedlings. Some are strong. Some are puny. I'm giving them all a chance. Hoping they don't die of disease like my last attempt. This time I cleaned and sterilized the pots. And bought neem oil.
What do you use to prevent the white bugs normally found on tomatoes plants, such as aphids and/or spider mites? The tomatoes plants in your video look very fresh, healthy, and with no bugs on them. 🌼
Use garlic water works great. Boil an entire head of garlic strain the water, cool, pour into spray bottle and spray those pesky bugs. Or neem oil. Both organic and won't hurt plants spray on soil. Also I put cloves of cut garlic on soil to repel. Remove them on the soil when u water then put back. Also one of those strip pest bug hangers from Lowes us great. Bugs attack and get stuck.
Wow its amazing. You inspired me. I am a craft youtuber but also thinking to use your gardening ideas and tips. ,👍👍 If any one is intrested in crafts or recycling waste wine bottles and plastic cab watch my videos 🤗
I prefer extracting seeds and putting them in a cup with water to ferment for about two weeks and after that, I dry them on a sheet of paper towel - ready to go. That process breaks the protective layer in a natural way and prevents mold and other unwanted 3rd party life from taking over the seeds. The fermentation occurs when you put the whole fruit in the soil as well but as you said it can go sideways producing disappointing results. In nature, for example birds, they put the fruit through their digestive system and the seeds are cleaned in the process - so cleaning the seeds helps.
I planted mine from organic cherry tomatoes I bought at the store, and they have been extremely slow growing. I planted them in April, which I know is a little late, but it took them like 3-4 weeks before they even pushed up thru the soil. Now it's late July and they're still only like 4-5 inches tall... They're great looking plants, have plenty of water, sun, fertilizer, and drainage, but SO SLOW growing. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't think I'll have any tomatoes this year. Do they overwinter well in pots?
Just my input, but store-bought vegetables often have growth inhibitors on them...to prolong their shelf life. So they're not the best to try to grow...
Hello my friend. Thank you for your beautiful and informative video. How is the taste of the cherry tomatoes when grown using seeds from a store bought cherry tomato?
Nice tomatoes. Better sow 2-3 seeds in separate, smaller seedling pots. Then you can move the plants to their definite place without touching the roots much. Also, it will prevent competition between plants from the very beginning.
Thank you so much for the information! I was wondering do you think my plant will grow on an screened in porch? I live in an apartment. I get the recommended amount of sun ☀️
