I love these Fallen characters. Something about the way they move... the motion capture and animation is spot on. They move and act in a way that makes you believe that they're real living creatures rather than fantastical monsters, and yet they're so inhuman. They way they move all four arms... I don't know how to describe it. They move their hands like we do when we speak, but with their own patterns and gestures. It's immerses me in the universe. Also, I like the drive of these characters. One thing Destiny doesn't usually have is good drive for the antagonists, which has been steadily improving. Forsaken was good, but I think both Beyond Light and the Taken King are at the top of the game when it comes to the archvillains - not in combat, but in story. Through countless lore, especially the Books of Sorrow, and the gameplay of TK, Oryx cuts a very imposing villain. He's not moustache-twirling evil, but a frightening nihilistic and sadistic force that seeks only to destroy us all. Eramis, on the other hand, has an almost human backstory. She watched the Traveler's movement on Riis, but when the Whirlwind struck she lost her mate and her children. She comes to Sol, fights alongside the rest of her kind for a cause she slowly begins to grow disillusioned with, and eventually breaks away from Fallen norm - after Fallen norm has been shattered and broken by Guardians, the arrival of Oryx, and the Scorn - and attempts to go back to the peace she remembered from home. When that doesn't work for her, she turns to vengeance, and hence the story of Beyond Light. It's impressive, and I truly think that Eramis is equal in terms of writing to Oryx. I utterly loved this expansion.
I enjoyed this but I really wanted more story of Eramis than just the lore book. If we had seen more cutscenes like when her and Praksis have a talk about the Traveler abandoning her people or seeing her claim Stasis it would've been so much cooler. And her death was really unsatisfying but I love how she reaches for the Pyramid because she knows the Darkness betrayed her and she has lost everything making her useless. I really hope Bungie brings her back if she isn't dead.
I couldn’t agree the Eliskni/Fallen are such a well built race as there motives are because of what happened to them. They lost everything and had to become our biggest enemy and the first Race to attack humanity’s last city. Beyond light captured everything great about destiny and the fallen. A Dark ancient power that laid dormant for decades even centuries called to Eramis and she took it. The first enemy who took the darkness since oryx. And the hints to the raid were so obvious some of us didn’t even see them. Beyond light was a masterpiece. Season of the hunt gave it a bad name. Fallen characters never disappoint and the fact we are now allying with some of them who want to end the war between our 2 races is great.
@@pisuter3564 I really like eramis because she is a no one, like she isnt a god like creature, and we see her motivations in all the campaign, oryx was very powerful yes, but his only motivation is avenge his son. She wanted to save her people but she got corrupt with the power she gained. She sent civilians into battle and if they refused she would simply kill them. I love how they teased the Deep stone crypt so much in the story, they gave us both bosses before we even beat the main story. You realize that Elinski don't have gender roles like that, Elinski can mate with whoever so she's not really lesbian and more so just a normal Fallen, if she was human or related to humans like the Awoken and Exos are then that'd be true but this is an entirely different species, Oryx for example was originally female but used reality bending magic to turn herself into a guy because males in Hive culture are stronger both physically and in certain types of magic, Oryx only did it for ultimate power no other reason, you're forcing human titles onto alien creatures who didn't have those titles for a reason, they don't need them because they don't reproduce the way we do
