Thank you so much for the videos you make Mr. Hughes. I have actually managed to retain so much information - the U.S. constitution in particular - because of your lectures.
I started watching your videos for a college level Virginia History course and they helped me with the class immensely, I ended up passing with a 100%. I remained subbed afterwards and am surprised to say I am still hooked on your content and will definitely be watching the vids in the future. Your fast paced style of focusing on pertinent information while still sounding like a human being makes these videos incredibly easy to watch and retain knowledge from. Thanks a ton for what you do!
Hi! I love your channel. It was a huge help during my high school days, and I continue to enjoy your videos. I know you care a lot about describing things correctly, so I wanted to let you know as a gay man myself that we don't call ourselves "the gays" in any context which is not satirical. "Gay" is an adjective, as is "transgender." Thank you so, so much for sharing LGBT+ history. Our history is usually overlooked, and having our history hidden has done a lot of damage to our fight for rights, so it means a lot to see it be shared.
Also, legislation was just passed that allows doctors to refuse to treat people like me (despite their oaths) across the country. By the way, if you would like to discuss more LGBT+ history, I would be happy to help in any way I can.
@@hiphughes I understand. I grew up in the 80s as well and came of age in the 90s. As a middle aged Southern lady I'm trying to make certain I use the correct verbage...
TO HIP HUGHES: Your video taught me some things I never learned in school (as have other videos by you). Thanks for that. I like your teaching style, and have subscribed and am sharing your videos in a large Facebook group and encouraging other to watch them too. I also think this particular video was good to see now, as the recent SCOTUS decision on LGBTQ rights is significant. Near the end of your video you mentioned the number of states that still had onerous laws on the books that allowed employers to fire LGBTQ people, and now the SCOTUS has affirmed the rights of citizens.
What I really appreciate about your work is you don't call names, you don't bombard me with your opinion, you just state history, you state facts, you state what happened. I don't care what anyone's opinion is, when I want just facts, I come to you. Thank you for keeping it pure.
The scandal of Buds Dwyer is a sad story that might be a one you might want to look into. There's a bio called "A Honest Man" and His wiki page covers some of how his story ended put the before and after is shocking as well.
Okay ... I am half through, and you may have answered this in the second-half of your video, BUT how in the heck did Eisenhower's executive order #10450 affect the attitude of J. Edgar Hoover. Such action personifies the ignorance such phobias were built on.
So glad that people are more tolerant of the LGBTQ Community. We've come a long way but we have a long way to go... I'm not a member of this community but I have family & friends who are... So happy to see them accepted more...

Yuppers!! 💯🙂
WELCOME BACK. And great topic to cover.
It’s shocking that in 2019 there are still _22 states_ where you can lose your job for being gay. “Land of the free” indeed.
in 2019 no one gives a shit if you're gay anywhere in America. No one cares
A good point for a follow up vid. It all depends on a number of factors what happens, though.
Not anymore :)

Hughes is back!
Fascinating upload Hip Hughes. I had no idea about the "Lavender Scare".
My dad told me about this, and that J. Edgar Hoover was 'one' and that was why he was in the 'mobs' pocket.
You can do like a Pink Scare video focusing on the suppression of Socialism, Socialist Ideas, Socialist Unions etc.
Thank you for your videos! Your videos helped me pass a class a few semesters ago and I enjoyed them so much I stuck around. Keep up the great work!
You were gone for a while, man. I hope everything's okay away from the screen. ^^
Yea I sure have been wondering I hope things are ok. Or get better if they're not.
Everything’s always ok. I’m
Grateful for what I have and the people in my life. Glad to be back.
Glad you’re back ❣️

Point taken. I grew up in the 80s so I’m working on saying things right. Thanks for the kind words.
@@hiphughes As I noted, a follow-up vid or round table, may well be an idea! (Lots of work for Hip, though.)

Read the poem "The Unknown Citizen" It can apply to any label anything the individual wants to remain unknown.
Missed you! Glad you’re back with another great video!
Thanks. Glad to be back.
@@hiphughes Thank you for this video

Ugh... It makes no sense to have laws like that in 2022... This is RIDICULOUS!!!!!

Excellent teacher ,thank you ❣
So glad you're back!
Thank you for sharing!
Finally! Welcome back!!!!
Guess who’s back...
...back again?

Oh don't watch and videos on line about it cause it deals with his suicide
were bisexuals a part of, or affected by the lavender scare?

As I see it, There's people I'm into like that, and people I'm not into like that. Anything beyond that is not my problem.
Welcome back! 🙂

Just learning about this today. Wow. Great to know that SCOTUS has just ruled that gays must be protected when it comes to employment.
So, I guess Fully Automated Gay Space Communism is out of the question, right?
“Gay Commies?”
Sounds like my people lmao
Thanks man!!!
