Could you imagine if the public of 1954 had seen in that year a screening of Alien? Before you all start to have a hissy fit, saying that it is not possible, I did say the magic word “Imagine” . Heck I’ve even had nightmares about the xenomorphs, where I was on a cobbled square surrounded with containers from cargo ships, some had aliens inside them and some didn’t but i found out that when the following morning came that the Aliens would be released one container at a time. There’s me in the middle where I had to kill them and not let them escape! And what did I have for a weapon you ask? A knife? A gun? Or a plasma rifle?? NO all I had was a five foot long scaffolding tube! And that’s all. I’ve had this same nightmare many times over and once in a while it happens again. But back to 1954 and a picture showing Alien 👾 there would have been pandemonium over it, people would have needed to see psychiatrist’s for years to come. No doubt I’d have one of nightmares like this now. Oh well I can dream about it now can’t I? LoL.

you think from the middle to the end was silly…the whole thing was silly. Not even then would a woman wear pearls and heels and carry a purse to search for people! Terrible acting.

Impecable la vestimenta de la protagonista. Ni una mancha en toda la película. Y el traje y el peinado masculino, excelentes!. Gran película de CF , gracias!!...
I was 4 years old in 1964, and my babysitter made me sit and watch this movie, and "The War of the Worlds" with her! Perhaps this could help me understand some of my weird quirks?🤔
The intro alone was intriguing. That alarm clock though. I remember my grandmother had a loud ass clock like that in her bedroom. I wondered how she could fall asleep listening to it literally ticking her life away.
This movie reflected the technology available at the time i.e. oscillators, radar, radio frequencies and aliens utilizing vacuum tubes and cathode ray tubes. I was half expecting an episode of The Honeymooners being displayed on the robot's helmet screen back in the army laboratory.

They knew so little about Venus back then - got it so wrong with thick cloud cover meaning plenty of water. The Foley artists went a bit over the top with her footsteps at the beginning. 😁
Apparently they were more dangerous than imperial storm troopers who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn while standing inside the barn with their pew pews.

Some folks are saying that if we could travel at the speed of light we may be able to reach the closest inhabitable exoplanet in about 100 yrs. What if there was life on Kepler B or whatever the name. Would it be humanoid or plants or insects? It's all so fantastic. We know it's there but we can't see it
How much energy would you need to travel at the speed of light, where will the energy come from, how do you survive a hundred years of radiation exposure in space, how do you obtain adequate food and water for a hundred years, and if you do make it to the exoplanet, what if it turns out for some undetected reason not to be habitable after all (as I strongly suspect would be the case)? A planet that is habitable by a large life form requires very rare, "goldilocks" conditions and it is unlikely as a matter of statistical probability that the nearest exoplanet truly checks all the boxes.

Amazing to think there is just 25yrs between this film (1954) and Alien (1979)! What an amazing difference on every level!
and now there's Ai and the world WILL END soon and Christ will return. Who needs movies?
but all of these movies warn about technolgies - like in "Terminator"

Yes, from before i was born, to being an adult, but it is a short time in the context you gave.

I actually met Richard Denning when he lived in Hawaii and acted as the governor in Hawaii 5-0. A really nice guy.

Imagine a world where your hair never gets messed up and your makeup never wears off.
And all women are refined 😅
In the 1950s, even an alien invasion invasion did not stop people from dressing nicely.

Good point!
Now Americans look like slobs.
I would like us to be nicely dressed like my folks were in the 50s, but I couldn't go for running around in high heels.
