This is another fabulous group from the 50's-60's. This was the time of classy romantic heartfelt songs. Sadly they don't make music like this anymore. They had so many great hits such as "Only You", "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", "The Great Pretender", "Enchanted", "(You've Got) The Magic Touch", "My Prayer", "Twilight Time", "Harbor Lights" etc.
If not mistaken, Jayy, I believe you've listened to "Only You" a year or two ago. I would suggest "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" as your next Platters discovery. It is beautiful.
So glad you are listening to another Platters' song, they were SO great! Brings back so many memories when I was child in the '50s. The don't make music like that any more.
Nothing wrong with liking this music especially the style of singing, and as mentioned below, you should react to Smoke gets in your Eyes,The Great Pretender- they're a classic group
So sorry about the loss of your momma. I know the feeling, I tear up at moments over the loss of both my parents, in certain moments. It's normal, you never forget them and the memories you have. Peace be to you
I love the Platters as they're my favorite Motown group!! My favorite is "My Prayer" but other songs to react to are "The Great Pretender," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "Harbor Lights," and a song that's not very popular but I enjoy, "It's Raining Outside." Can't go wrong with a Platters song! I also love Tony Williams' voice!
The Platters are the ones that got me hooked on 50s and 60s Doo-Wop music! Please go down the rabbit hole with The Platters!!! My other favorites of theirs are My Prayer, The Great Pretender, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Twilight Time, You’ll Never Never Know, On My Word Of Honor, (You’ve Got) The Magic Touch, and I’m Sorry.
I was very young when they were so popular. My Aunt had their album and when I would babysit for them, I would put that album on the stereo and listen. I LOVED them. I had the privilege of seeing them in concert in the early 70's and it was the best. They had so many beautiful songs. Dagmar S. named many that you should listen to.
One of my favorites by the Platters. "Only You" is a good one by them Also give a listen to the Flamingos, I Only Have Eyes for You....the lyrics are so romantic

The lead singer’s name was Tony Williams. One of the all-time greatest voices ever. No one in today’s music even comes close.
So glad you are listening to another Platters' song, they were SO great! Brings back so many memories when I was child in the '50s. The don't make music like that any more.
You’re not weird, the Platters were pure magic. Never apologize for loving pure gold magic!

Everything you say is important!
Seeing your face, it’s how the Platters made you feel and it had to be on the juke boxes in the diners!
I have loved "Twilight Time" since I first heard it years ago.

I remember this song! Used to listen to "The Platters' on the radio back in the 1850s and 1960s. Thumbs up!
The 1850s, those were the good times...
The great Tony Williams (RIP) at his best. Great lyrics, too. This is what a romantic song ought to sound like.
