This entertaining music of the Munich Hofbrauhaus is about as authentic a collection as can be had. All of it was recorded by Germany's most popular recording stars in Munich.
The songs need no explanatory notes. All are ideal for beer-drinking moments - or hours. All vocals are sung in German.
Ever since the days of King Ludwig and comely Lola Montez, Munich has enjoyed a special reputation. Every year, visitors from all over the world flock to the gay Bavarian city. My father was a German pianist and I would love to have a dollar for every time I heard him play this when I was growing up in the old German places here in Baltimore in the 60s
My dad was a recording engineer, so in the early 1960s, the Little German Band of State College, PA played Baltimore's Oktoberfest (not sure of the exact location.)
I still have my LP copy of that. Don't think they played this, but they did a great version of : "Der treue Husar," which is a song that my dad constantly whistled.
My family and I spent three tours of duty in West Germany and we enjoyed much and will always be in my memory bank, forever.
My friend Daren plays this music every time we hang out at his place for a drink. He also has the single greatest collection of Maitland Smith furniture.

my grandma is german, and she used to sing this song when i was little, and drink. hahaha. she told me it meant, 1, 2, DRINK! and she would always take a swig on the g'suffa part. :) she's from Bad Orb, shes 84, and still drinks like a german. :) thanks for this post!
Last year i saw my german aunt. At 97 we samples 4 Biers. After she called me dummkopt. I prefer kartoffelkopt! LOL.

Alicia and others-Please don't be too hard on we Americans. I'm neither arrogant nor patronizing to a land & people I absolutely love and admire. I've taken 4 trips to Southern Deutschland and two to Munchen in particular. Both times being sure to visit the Hofbrauhaus to enjoy the music, hospitality, food, beer, and what I hope & believe is the mutual & true friendship shared by we two peoples. I look forward to my next visit. Also we'd love to have you visit us in the Southern U.S. anytime.

Having lived in Germany for three years the festivals were pure magic and a very different way of life compared to the staid UK I enjoyed everyone I went to, my first being ''Fasching Festival'' in February? in 1957_followed by many more. Playing these videos brings back some wonderful memories..

its funny, after living in Munich we learned quickly this is a tourist trap, but here are many other amazing beer gardens in Munich well worth the visit. FYI beer drinking nations, Czech Republic, Ireland and Germany, 1.2,3 in that order, not the USA as someone alluded to in an earlier post. Prost and Slainte as I'm currently in Ireland.
