I sang with LJ in Detroit at the old 20 Grand in 1981...when he was doing his solo thang. LJ could always sing and still can sing his behind off. He was a good boss as well. We always rehearsed in his home in Southfield. Thank you LJ....I have sung with alot of people after singing with you and those stair steps got me where I am today. I have sung with the Original Shirelles, The Marvelettes, The Ladies Formerly of Chic, Lionel Hampton, Wayne Newton, Lena Horne and with my Platters guys now for over 15 years. Thank you and God Bless you. STAY SAFE IN THIS TRYING TIMES. GOD BLESS, ChinaDoll of the Platters (Angie)

Wow. Caberet in Detroit, Byob back in 2001. Most fun in my life. So many beautiful women. Everybody drunk off they ass. I was a young 21 yr old Marine stationed at Selfridge 15 miles outside the city. L. J. Reynolds came on. Few seconds later a beautiful queen grabbed my hand to dance. I didn't know what I was doing. But her and that music guided the shit out of me. My first ball room dance. 20 yrs ago. Crazy
This song is SO Detroit!! One of my FAVS of all time. My Mom use to roller-skate with L.J. she loved this man!! Went to all his concerts even as recent as 2017. Moms was very popular back in the day. She knew everybody. God rest her soul..
Steppers to the floor!!! L.J. is a TRUE soul survivor. His recordings with the Dramatics as well as his solo work are an important part of the soundtrack of our lives
You ain't never lied!! Definitely a Detroit cabaret song!! Some of the best ballroom dancing in the world!! Cleveland plays this old school classic too!! Love it!!
Man back in them days I was having kids out that's all LJ run it up while I let us all right now today L back of my days you know I love that song LJ Reynolds by the key to the world you'll be my only girl you know I'm saying I might have said the words wrong with that was my song though I had kids off that song I love that song by Elton which I love the dramatic. Everybody have a blessed night from Charlie doll peace out baby
The Dramatics one of my favorite groups with L J Reynolds, Ron Banks, Larry Demps, Willie Ford and Lenny Mayes great vocals, LJ Killed Key to the World one of the best all time stepper's cut.
Chicago Steppers front and center, this is a Steppers Cut 💃💃💃💃😀💞 A few years ago I saw L.J. Reynolds perform with the Dramatics @ the Venue Theatre in Hammond, Indiana. They were Jammin' on the stage, and us Chicago Steppers were Jammin' on the dance floor. It felt like I were floating in the air, I love L.J. Reynolds and the Dramatics 😀😀😀💞💞💞
Its fuck up that they never really got RESPECT for they did in the music. Like so many our great artists. Like O.V. RIGHT, RICHARD DIP FIELD. AND MANHATTANS, CURTIS MAYFIELD LOLOL
I remember riding back with my pops from visiting my grandma down south in his big ol' Cadillac Fleetwood. Air conditioner blasting, and this song blasting out the speakers. Now I find myself riding around town blasting it. Memories
Yep, no shame in it at all. I only discovered this a few weeks ago while searching for the 80's reggae version (by artist Ruddy Thomas) that was blasted everywhere when I was a child, by my older siblings or their friends. Love it; THIS is the kind of Soul music I was raised on.
LJ Reynolds- One of the the great voices of old school R&B. If you recognize the voice but not the name, remember some of the great songs by The Dramatics.
Saucie Rios Girl, I am so shocked that you didn't realize LJ Reynolds was in the Dramatics that I'm willing to send you my Dramatics compilation ("All Their Best" is what I call it) right this minute! Just tell me you want it, and your wish is my command. P.S. This is the first time I've ever seen a comment from you in YT, a total coincidence when I punched up this song!
My son is 22, today. L.J. Reynolds is one of his favorites.....has been for about 5-6 years now. I love that my boys will get up and step to this song with me!!
Only man on earth with this voice. A true testament to the great vocal legacies of the 60's, 70's thru middle 80's...and still killing it in his 70's. Thanks and Hats off to you... Mr. L.J. Reynolds!!!
LJ and band knocked it outta the park with this song. I can play this song in a room full of folks who never heard it and people immediately gravitate to it
"Let's get together & give a big hand to the one and only L J REYNOLDS", the standout track with a killer hook from his debut solo 1981 album, the ex Dramatics vocalist sings it with so much verve, in typical ol skool style, that equals class, the Rudy Thomas reggae version is a very good cover worth a listen
The Rudy Thomas version brings back so many memories. Every summer you'll always here someone blasting out Lovers Rock. The amount of summer days and nights I've heard that version. Big tune.
L.J. is still in the Dramatics frontman born and raised in Saginaw, always had strong vocals. Thank you Larry for keeping this music alive. God blessings.
High Step it off Chi. Weekends started on Thursdays. The world was ours and we thought it would never end. We can go back anytime we want cuz the music sounds just like it did back then and memories can put you back where you left off with your roadys. Don't let this music die I know I won't.
