The problems I have with the upright fridge in my camper is that all of the contents fly around inside during travel and can break the fridge shelving and change the temp settings. The cold simply falls out of an upright fridge when the door is opened. So I bought an IKOMKON 30 quart 12 volt chest style for $139 from the big river site. It's been one of my better decisions. Quiet, efficient, and can go as low as 13 degrees. No bells or whistles. No apps to fiddle with. It's a basic low power fridge.

You don't want to be in headlines, Girl killed by own fridge whilst braking hard. You can get metal strapping from hardware store. Tie it from side to side, not front to back, and bolt it to floor of van so in crash it stays put.
I love that refrigerator. I love that van because you have room to stand, walk, sit at your table, or desk, I love it!!!
If it has adjustable feet take ‘em out then get threaded rod that fits the hole and bolt it from below… you could drive through Moab and that thing won’t tip.
Lol I love how this is like a hot mess, and its real, so many van lifer videos make it look so easy and pretty.
You should do more wood working to your van to secure the fridge, place for the battery and other stuff.
Indeed she should! That thing is gonna move if she is driving, but that thing is gonna FLY if she is hitting the brakes hard.
I would make sure this stuff is super secure. Just incase you have a small fender bender or worse to keep it all from flying through you and the windshield.

I had a 60 litre dual zone fridge/freezer that suddenly stopped working. A local 4wd shop advertised a 50 litre fridge on special that same day. Half of what it would cost to replace my old one. Only thing is, it was either fridge or freezer, not both. So I bought 2 that fit under my seating nicely.
Im gonna get a regular mini fridge too like that, i like doing shit in the van most of the time haha. Just nice having my own space yo

Like the retro look...I considered going with a similar style for my room, but got a sweet deal on a stainless one...was only like $80 at a local liquidators. I kind of regret not getting one with a freezer, though. Oh well.
It is definitely nicer having shelves in a refrigerator. It’s a pain having to stack everything and then if you want something from the bottom to have to take everything out of the fridge to get to it.

Maybe color your velcro tab that's going to secure it shut, so when it's not secure you will see it before driving. Use colored tape, sharpie, stickers, etc. Just a thought.😊 love the fridge. Good job on the set up. Love your laugh by the way and your humor. I do the same on projects spending hours deciding.

It burned the ends of the rope. This keeps the rope from unraveling.

The ropes are going to leave markings on the corners.
To secure the door, u could just use velcro like the drawers.
To secure the fridge, I believe u could find something in the child proofing department.
Something like a plastic strap glued to the fridge and screw to your back panel.

you should think about replacing the rope holding the fridge in with 2 heavy duty bungee cords (4 all together)!

You know that if you ever have to stop quickly that all that stuff in the van will come flying forward. That’s really not a safe setup. While you are very cute and all and I admire your gumption to make things work, I really think you should consider getting back to a more safe lifestyle.

This van must weigh more than a proper RV. Probably not safe to drive at any speed. The tires and wheels are not made for this much junk in the trunk!
You joking? Lol. These vans are beasts and can typically be seen loaded with all sorts of contractor tools and materials. They are meant to be loaded up. They share many same parts as a truck. Many people upgrade them with truck parts lile lifted suspension a bigger tires. And what do you think small RVs are bases on? Van bodies just likw this one.
