I've never been lucky to live near a woods with wild garlic, so I decided to make use of our shady woodland areas and sow some of my own. Wild garlic (also known as ramsons) is delicious and a welcome source of foraged vitamins in the spring time, and also forms a beautiful carpet of white flowers.
My seeds came from Chiltern Seeds

I live not far from various woodlands in north wales and normally when you stumble across this in the woods you smell it before you see it. In the woods surrounding Denbigh gold course it is literally everywhere and covers most of the forest floor. It smells lovely and makes the forest feel more alive

Earlier this year I went on a weekend trip to Bath which included this shit boat tour. The only good thing about it was seeing and smelling all the wild garlic along the riverbank!

I just been out and collect some wild garlic by cutting it leaving roots behind and I am going to attempt to grown wild garlic from the seeds on the top of it. It's delicious and so good for you. I left plenty behind.

Earlier this year I found a patch that I had planted, and this week because of the flowers I found another one! I really hope they both survive and come back next year even stronger :)

I think they need to be stratified over winter, so often (apparently) take a while to grow. I'm trying by putting mine in the fridge for a few weeks and then going to plant them...

Any luck with the wild garlic?
Love your garden. I have a Japanese Knotweed Garden video which shows our woodland garden which has Japanese Knotweed (Resveratrol herbal plant) nettle, cleavers, plantain and dandelion. All plants I use for health benefits.

For years it was my jogging hoodie and now it has sadly passed into the realm of gardening one. When it's really past it I'll have to rescue the lettering and applique it onto something else...

The seeds don't seem to have taken off, but some bulbs I bought did come up this year. I have heard that wild garlic seeds are very fickle and can take a few years to germinate 😱

It's been a tricky spring- April was so dry! Great weather for long lasting blossom but not so great for direct sowing and planting out. Good luck with your garden 💚

You might find they come up next year! I sew some foraged seeds early last year and they never came up so I through the pots with compost in my large lavender container...
Long story short we have created a new flower called the garlic lavender 😅 and they have indeed took over the pot!
