    If you pay 80% to 90% off it pushes your due date out however many months ahead you do not have to make a payment until that due date. It's still will report on time monthly payments. Basically by paying 80% of it off you made your next few payments ahead of time. Their car loans and personal loans work the same way

    My 25k flag CC is in the mail thanks to you. My daughter turns 18 in a few months. Gonna strongly encourage her to obtain the secured card. This way she can work on her spending habits her last semester of highschool and stop using her debit card at Starbucks every day.

    • @starrcarterfinance
      @starrcarterfinance  Год назад +17

      You could also add her as an authorized user on your credit card too. That’s how I got my son’s credit started. I froze his 3 credit bureaus so that he can’t apply for credit without me knowing it. He is 22 now, and he only has the credit he is authorized on my cards to use. He got approved for his first apartment without a security deposit for his utilities and only a half deposit on first months rent all without me. My goal is to have him buying his first house by 25-26. Teach them young to be responsible with their credit so they never have worry about it when they get older. 🥰

    • @starrcarterfinance
      @starrcarterfinance  11 месяцев назад +2

      I hate this for you! Best thing you can do is teach your child to be responsible with their credit now. When my son turned 18, I froze his credit so he couldn’t apply for anything without me approving it first. He is 22 now and I still have the freeze on all 3 Bureaus. My son’s score is close to the 780s and he got his first apartment without a deposit down or utilities deposit. It’s very important to teach them how to save money for the things they need instead of relying on credit to heavy. It leads to debt and debt can eventually lead to missed payments and etc. I wish you all many blessings!

She told me it's very rare that any one is turned down for the pledge loan. She said there was no credit score that was required to get the pledge loan. That's the purpose of them holding your money until u pay the loan back.

    • @starrcarterfinance
      @starrcarterfinance  Год назад +16

      Bad credit is okay if you’re doing a pledge or certificate loan using your own money as I stated in the video. That is the way to rebuild your credit to be able to get higher limits. In good faith you’re showing the ability to payback despite setbacks that damage the credit. The only way to get credit going again is to outweigh the negative with the positive. Hope this clears it up ☺️

    • @Everydayisawin

      @@lindadavis5948Hey, season Navy Federal alumni here, @ggrant3260 is right. I just left almost a month ago the policy never changed. It has to be a child, parent, sibling, spouse, grandchild, grandparent, or household member. I’m going to be honest some reps use access to let people in and never question it but they are supposed to. Respectfully, your nephews got lucky with a MSR who isn’t by the book. In general any MSR that calls in the potential member is supposed to ask how they are eligible for membership and if they aren’t a federal government employee or don’t have an immediate family member (aunts, uncles, and/or cousins do not count unfortunately) they are not eligible unless they work for NFCU themselves. People have literally sat in the lobby for an hour or almost 2 only to be told that they were not eligible by a MSR after they waited all that time because they were aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or friend even if they had the actual access number they were still not eligible. To be honest with you it all depends on what MSR you have if they’re new or not and whether they follow policy or not. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. They used to be more lax about it but since there are so many scammers and fraudsters they are cracking down and actually putting it into place to prevent fraud and help members accounts stay secure because so many people have been abusing it and the people that help them get on are penalized for it. I’ve seen plenty of instances where people would let someone use their access number and the person has no actual relationship as far as immediate family or similar to that particular person that has actually served is a family member of someone who served who have lost their account or have lost their sponsorship privileges to sponsor other accounts but in all fairness that can happen to people that are related as well.

    As a retired Naval Officer and a long time NFCU member, these videos scare the hell out of me. Promoting high limit credit cards especially to those with bad credit or low income is financially dangerous. Part of our job is to keep those under our command out of financial trouble. Now NFCU seems to be working against us.

    • @starrcarterfinance
      @starrcarterfinance  Год назад +23

      This video is intended to educate people on how they can build or rebuild credit. It is always up to the individual to be responsible with any credit they are approved to get. Personal responsibility is a most for any lending and NO ONE should get loans or credit cards, or anything they don’t intend to pay back or is above their means to pay. I don’t promote that on my channel at all!!! NFCU and other credit union are always looking out for the member first, but the member also has a financial responsibility to use credit wisely. Thank you for your comment. 🤩

    • @av8rgrip
      @av8rgrip Год назад +6

      @@starrcarterfinance That is the problem isn’t it. People think that because they qualify for a loan, then they must be making enough to pay that loan back. Most people don’t understand finances. There are plenty of videos out there with the statistics. Dave Ramsey (who I don’t always agree with) has a whole program on it. Caleb Hammer has some astounding videos on how much debt people are in. Soul crushing debt. A home is about the only “good” debt I still believe in, but even that is not as safe a bet as in the past. Anyone who is financing a car over 5 years (should be 3) is buying too much car and satisfying a want, not a need. Credit should only be used as a tool, not a crutch.

      As a long time NFCU member, I can honestly say that I don't have access to high limit credit cards, and I have good credit. They still take into account how much income I have coming in before any credit is issued. That is for cards as well as loans. It is easier to borrow from NFCU, but they don't let me borrow something that would take 1000 a month payments if I only make 1000 a month.

      I agree it’s also a shame that it’s ok for anyone who hasn’t served or not a direct family member be able to even qualify for these accounts and funds. And then being told how to get more. I see so many ppl giving and selling their info to ppl just so they can get an account to get loans that they really don’t plan on paying back just living for the moment. Basically scamming and taking away from vets that served

    Great info! I'm about to hit my 91/3 wait period and I just opened up a pledge loan for $5k and recently paid it off, 90%, so now I have about 8-9 products with NFCU. Should I ask for credit limit increase or apply for a totally new card, trying to get the highest limit possible? All scores currently are right under 600 FYI

    • @starrcarterfinance
      @starrcarterfinance  Год назад +7

      I would wait until the score has gone up some more before applying to be honest. Keep making on time payments and keep the relationship building. 90 days may not be long enough for a score that low. If you do apply for the limit increase make sure its not a hard inquiry first. Hope this helps. 🤩

    I'm a PenFed rather a NavyFed guy. I understand the principle of the secured\pledge loan. My fear is what happens credit score wise as EACH pledge loan would end if I took out a series of them to keep the train rolling so to speak. Those would be the ONLY type installment loans currently in place.

    • @starrcarterfinance
      @starrcarterfinance  11 месяцев назад +1

      Dont have an installment/pledge loan for less than 24 months. It will hurt your average age of credit more than help it it in the long run. I don’t see the point in multiple pledge loans personally. Too me its quality over quantity. For example: One pledge loan for say $5000 paid back over 24-36 months is better than several $500 pledge loans. The main goal is to build the relationship by using financial products that makes sense for your financial needs. Too many credit obligations don’t look good either for your Debt-to-Income ratio as well. Showing the ability to save money with a certificate of deposit is great too. It has to be a balance of lending and savings to look favorable.

If you put enough money in this loan (over $1000)your are essentially showing the lender that you can handle debt thereby securing your future for unsecured high limits in the future.
