He would go on to subtly shift the blame for the Clone Wars onto the Jedi, an allegation that the Jedi were not PR savvy enough to realize the extent to which the public and politicians would believe it. But when every Jedi Knight and Master was a *general,* and even Padwans were commanders, it *did* look a lot like they were trying to subvert and control the Grand Army of the Republic, and by extension, eventually the Republic itself.

This is what made them so easy for Palpatine to manipulate. He really only needed to anticipate how Yoda would react to something, because odds were the Council would follow Yoda's policies. Yoda had doubts about Anakin and the prophecy, and so he allowed his sidekick Mace Windu to antagonize Anakin. Thus pushing him right into Palpatine's "friendship" and "mentoring". I always felt that the Jedi Order being based on Coruscant was indeed a mistake. Not only spiritually, but strategically as well. I always felt that the Jedi should have had their main base on a world not listed on any maps, known only to a few chosen and trusted outsiders. I think the biggest problem though, was how the Jedi's activities and beliefs changed after Exar Kun's attack on Ossus. The lessons of the Mandalorian Wars, Revan's intervention in the Mandalorian Wars, and the later Hyperspace Wars during SWTOR should have taught the Jedi that they needed to be proactive, not reactive.
The ban on Jedi having families was also a problem, as they believed that purging their emotions would lead to balance, which does not. The fact that they took in young Force-sensitive children to train, basically like growing plants in a greenhouse, left many unprepared when they were sent out into the galaxy for their Padawan training. Because of being sheltered like that, they were unprepared for the emotions that they experienced. This was further exacerbated by the dogmatic rules and regulations of the Jedi Order, which were actually contradictory in so many ways.
I haven't read too much of the EU and what not, but I feel that Luke should probably model his new Jedi Order more on the Je'dai, the predecessors to the Jedi. I also feel like he should take his new Jedi Order more towards the center between the Light and Dark sides of the Force in order to truly achieve balance.

It still would have been better if the Temple on Coruscant were nothing more than a branch office and for the various Councils to be based elsewhere. Just look back at TPM. The Council was unwilling to rally their Jedi to go save Naboo purely because the Senate was gridlocked and couldn't decide what to do, so likewise the Jedi did nothing. Even Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's presence in Padme's entourage was really more about trying to lure Darth Maul into the open than it was about liberating Naboo.

I believe that he was quite correct. As (At least by legends, I don't know if this had been countermanded by current cannon) the temple on Coruscant WAS actually the seat of the council as a whole during the Mandalorian wars. Mitra Surik activated her lightsaber and plunged it into a decorative statue outside the council chambers in protest after confronting the council for their inaction during the war and their stance of exile toward many of those that left to serve. (If memory serves for the latter) That or great demotion or negative sight by the greater order. Which ultimately drove many Jedi to return to Revan and Malak.
That said, the reasons for the Jedi to close off access to the archives without special request and authorization were non existent. The destruction of Ossus was a terrible loss and indeed likely could have been prevented by a larger presence on the planet. At the same time, a simple solution that would have had a balance between "Old" tradition rather than over correction and pointless alterations would have been a rotation of order members of a certain number to be a quick reaction force. As well as having said Jedi feel a connection to the deep force that before Coruscant, the grand temple(s) had been placed over. Ossus was also a planet that bounced back relatively quickly that could have been re-inhabited and rebuilt on. Having a temple on Coruscant itself wasn't a bad thing. Having it be the home of the order was the biggest mistake. At the time of the Madalorian wars, the number of Jedi was far larger than just about any other time in galactic history. But at the same time were also not tied in allegiance to the republic either. It wasn't until after the very first purge and the rebuilding the order that a political connection was made with the republic. At which point the order closed in further on itself until only sects dismissed by the council remained at temples in the wider galaxy.

The practice of the Ossus temple preserved the Jedi Order, and in them much of it's knowledge, at the cost of a building few of them called home. Had they expanded on that practice, creating more temples with copies of their remaining literature, they would have been prepared to endure almost any threat. Choosing to instead focus on the violent defence of an otherwise meaningless building was a grave mistake... a betrayal of the Jedi and their ancestors that cost them dearly.
Even if you ignore the legends of the Courascant temple being built on a major Dark Side nexus.

The Jedi are confused as to their role in the wider galaxy; they seek altruistic values, yet like the Sith want power. They don't want to govern/rule, they want to be at the nexus of power and this is why Yoda failed. It's an off-the-cuff care-factor remark to tell Qui-Gon to speak to the Force, as the Jedi Council could care less for his opinion. Proof they'd stopped listening to the Force.
Is it any wonder that the Force produced a vision of the 'chosen one' who'll bring balance? That Qui-Gon who sought balance, was the one to find the 'chosen one'?

To be fair, while you can say it's not a good way for them, they were in an impossible situation back when the decision was made to make Coruscant their official home. Having been chased off of two established planets already and their weakness of being spread out understood, it was a logical decision to consolidate some of that power and ally with an institution that, by their definition, served the interests of the Force.
Their mistake was perhaps that after the order grew to its peak, they didn't establish other temples on other, more distant worlds to facilitate further growth and create an efficient system that allowed the jedi to spread out and reach far but not be weak to direct attacks.

The 2008 Clone Wars cartoon did not explicitly retcon this, but made it less likely by only depicting Nightsisters (and Nightbrothers) on Dathomir with no mention of the 5 or 6 light-side Clans of Witches, and I have no idea whether Disney would bring it back

Its only when Dooku is awarded master that he spends most of his time in the vault with a lot of Sith holocrons. After that he met Sidious and showed him how blind the Jedi were because he's been operating both sides of the war right under the nose of the Jedi. I can see why Dooku turned after learning so much about the Sith from the holocrons and seeing how foolish and weak the Jedi were, allowing the war consume them and not being able to sense one of the most powerful Sith Lords even when they were in the same room. With his decorations in his office it should have been obvious.

What about the fact that Corestant was nexus of dark force energy. These Dark force planets hid and or clouded the force. Dulling the senses and connection to the living force. Dagoba and Tatooien are examples of dark nexus planets being able to mask presence.

Hey guys, from Star Wars fan to Star Wars fans, tell me do you believe Anakin Skywalker could’ve reached his true full potential on these three options, one he went to the wellspring of life and ahch to the birthplace of the midichlorians and the first Jedi Temple option two he stayed on Mortis like the father said, or lastly option three he was trained by the force itself, his real and true creator father tell me guys

I agree with Qui Gon, tibetan Monks are in the mountains or jungle deep away from cities.. not in the capital city. maybe if the temple wasnt in the heart of the planet, like maybe another oart of the planet where theres not a lot of civilians n regular ppl. N wasnt the there a sith temple on the very griund the templ was built over?? Bad move, the temple didn't purify the dark in that area

If this were Dungeons & Dragons then I would say that the Jedi Order had become Lawful Neutral in alignment. They had stopped serving Good in favor of Law. They were often tricked into supporting Evil because it happened to hold Lawful power in the Senate.

8:21 He was NOT proven absolutely correct. First, I reject the premise that the council was corrupted by politics. It’s an absurd and ridiculous Sith/Dark Side talking narrative.
The temple’s location would not have made a difference even if you grant that assumption. Even you point out how even at other locations the Jedi didn’t engage in missions.
There was not anything wrong with the temple being at Coruscant. I think it was appropriate that the Jedi Temple be located in the capital of the Republic. It symbolized the importance of the Jedi in and for the Republic.
I always feel cold when I watch your videos. The Dark side is strong here.
