Makflies Mak do you have any advice on hackles? I’m particularly trying to get long yet narrow hackle feathers for my size 18 and 20 black midge flies. I did buy a cape online but every feather is just too long and won’t wrap nicely. Not interested in colours just a straight black but not sure if I should purchase a specific cape for these or buy individuals from Whitting. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Junior,, You need a Sadle, its a streight one size Hackle from top to bottom , Lakelad Fly tying does them, I would sudgest go for ( Pro Sadle ) wich is reasonable price, if you can afford then you can buy Bronz , Silver , Gold,
I tie something like this, but I use burlap instead of yarn. I like a coral-colored thread. Yes, I have caught fish with it. A good coating of either head cement or clear fingernail is a good finishing touch. And the fibers hanging down are good leg imitations.
Nice fly. I use this fly quite a bit for Grayling. My mam and dad used to have a mat in their kitchen which was the perfect combination of colours for this fly! I managed to steal quite a bit to tie many flies before my mam caught me and put a stop to it! My grandma had a beautiful olive chenille table spread which I used to steal bits from too! These were great for Damsels! Great videos. I've subbed!
Lol.... Naughty ,,, I like that salmon ninja,, I do that some time when she is not at home ,, I have taken so much from xmas tree lol.. Thank you for watching Regards Mak
Did you separate the yarn before tying? When you showed the skein it looked like a couple of "strands" together, tying the fly it looked like a single strand.
Very nice fly Mak, could see this being very effective as a dropper or a lazy day of fishing under a strike indicator
Thank you Junior,, I agree , it works both way, last year I have sold quite a lot

Thank you Tom :))
Terrific looking bug Arshad. Well tied. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers Danny :)
This fly looks great. I love your videos. Is the wire used for weight and to thicken the body?
Thank Jeffery , it is used for both 👍🏻
I figured as such. Thanks for getting back to me.

Thank you William, I didn't split it, This yarn is uneven from places, so I trimmed it, it is 2 strand Yarn :))
@@Makflies Thanks! I bought a very good, color wise, substitute for 477 and am looking forward to tying killer bugs.
Would you ever put shellback on this or is it more effective without? Nice video :)
Thank you Lewis, It's more effective like that :)
What color yarn?
Hi James, Beginning of this Video I showed the Colour & Batch no :))

@@Makflies Nice flies! These are great in med-small streams in Idaho. Sometimes I tie with a stiff but sparse hackle up front.
