Jacob Miller I agree they are just so bulky feeling!! Like you said Shimano owns the ergonomics! Seems like all of them are Comfortable and the slx feels crazy good in the hands
The ergonomics on the steez is good, it’s similar to the chronarch and mentanium. The zillion and tatula sv I own are hard to get my finger on the line, so I use them for rattle traps or spinnerbaits any kind of moving bait where I don’t need to feel the line for the slightest bites.
At least there's already aftermarket bait finesse spools out there, that should fit that, reel if those spools have the exact same dimensions. Would make better sense to just get one of the reels this new one replaces for cheaper, and get an aftermarket spool for that though.
THE REEL TEST I would think a cheaper reel would benefit the most with tuning, over a more expensive reel that comes with better parts. But yeah,if you add the price of the after market parts, you may as well just get the better reel if you can. THE REEL TEST I never viewed it as a price drop because this reel will replace both the CT and CT Type-R. At one point, I could buy CTs for $80 on eBay. Even for CT-Type R it wasn't that much more, but definitely less than $160. So, to me this is a price hike plus a reel with pretty much nothing to offer. I can't even go on looks alone, I think it looks cheap with the matte black paint job and that huge spider logo.
I just got this reel, I really like it. It feels solid, palms great, smooth, like the knobs and I wish they were on all Diawa reels. It’s price point is good, be perfect at $140.
Became a Daiwa fan when the first Tatulas came out, then the CT, and the SV. Good, logical progression there. But then the Curado K blew me away. A worthy successor to the E series. And now Daiwa is running the T-wing and Tatula all over the place, while adding dumb marketing flash with these new graphics. They’ve lost me. Personally don’t like matte finish, definitely don’t like the dumb spider graphic, and they can’t even put an anodized aluminum handle lock nut plate on the reel? Even the new CG budget Doyo reels have them! That plastic one is bulky and looks bad. And on top of that it has a heavy spool? I think if Daiwa released a truly refined reel in the Curado price point, one they’re legitimately confident in without releasing a new variant every year, they would do well. And I think they could, because the Tatula CT is really close. Instead, they go bonkers blow stuff up. Shimano can sit on the K for another 2 years or more, possibly giving the Citica a similar upgrade during that span, and maybe tweak the 70 a bit. I’m not at all interested in the SLX, though, so hopefully Shimano doesn’t let that aesthetic trickle upward to the flagships.

Basically out of all the smaller reels, which is your recommendation and why? Carpal tunnel is a beast.
the CTs are bigger than all the reels you mentioned. Check out my CG 80 vid. As far as SV? just turn your brakes up a couple of clicks and you will get the effect lol.
