Shall I focus on series or the Goodreads challenges?
Series ✨ feels more rewarding haha (I say as I completely avoid my 20+ unfinished series)
Both ❤😊❤❤😊
Definitely series! I feel like you’ll end up with more positive reviews if you focus on this one. And recs on good series to start would be so appreciated!
I think the goodreads challenge sounds fun
I would like to know what you will think of Oathbringer, so series.
I feel like working your way through series would feel like an accomplishment, especially if you can get to ones you’ve been meaning to pick back up for a while.
Everyone is being so reasonable 🙄
(I agree though lol)
I vote for the series video. It feels good to complete something or at least be caught up if it’s an ongoing thing.
My vote is continuing/finishing series. You always seem to really enjoy reading or finishing a book series even when you decide not to finish them, and I feel like the Goodreads one could be a lot more hit or miss since you don’t always like the popular choices!
That's true!
I vote for the video reading the highest rated books on goodreads
continuing series would be great
Oathbringer 💪 I'm scared to do it myself so would be great to see you do it first 😅
I keep pushing it back because I’m scared 😂 it’s huge
It's amazing do it😊
I vote for finishing series cuz I also need to do the same 😂
Same lol
I think working a series would be more fulfilling for you but I know a Goodreads one would be chaos and therefore very entertaining 😂
I’m voting for finishing series as I should be doing the same so could use the inspiration 😅
Continue series (and read Oathbringer!)! Also if you haven't finished Mistborn: A Secret History yet, that may be useful before getting back into The Lost Metal!
Continuing series would be dope❤ Currently reading the eye of the world by Robert. Loving it❤
I liked the first one!
Read the duology - Two Twisted Crowns - and you will finish up a series! 😊
Elena Knows is so good! It's dark & emotional, but oh so beautiful 🩷
I had nightmares after reading it. It scarred me.
@@zhrae9992 I know what you mean, I couldn't stop thinking about it for days. Claudia Piñeiro has earned the title of my favorite Latin author.
Loved it. "A Little Luck" is even better in my oppinion.
@@mariareadsssf I've actually just ordered that one! I feel lucky enough to be able to read her work in Spanish.
I'm rooting for Oathbringer! I'm planning to start the Stormlight Archive this year and I'm slightly terrified haha.
Oathbringer!💜
Continue series. Oathbringer has the most epic ending ever. And conections to the Lost Metal
Series for sure!
😍 Oathbringer!
I hope you enjoy all the books on your July TBR Emily.
I wasn't a spicy reader before - I actually hated it, but now I discovered I like the ones with aliens, monsters and fae A LOT! They're always cozy and cute and light... with that found family vibes.. ah! I will read this one you mentioned, hope is a great one!
I just want you to read “hunger of the gods”, it’s such a good sequel!!! (I personally think, it’s even better than the first) , so I’ll go with the continuing series video 😂
So proud of you keep working though the series on your book shelves and i believe in you 📚📚📖📖📚📖📙📖📖📖📖📖📙📙📙📖📖📚📖📖📖📙📙📙📙📙📙🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
I vote to continue series!
Girl you need to continue series! You got this!
a month for continuing/finishing series!
Haha can’t believe I’m seeing „That time I got drunk…“ on your TBR 😅 can’t wait for your review 🙈
Continue and finish series!!! I’m currently attempting to do this as well, and it feels so good when you do it
I vote for series. ❤
I just finished razorblade tears per you and wow! Such a good book ❤❤ thank you
Yours truly is a standalone even though it's in a series. I loved it.
Series!!! It is also something I can NEVER make myself pick up, but it’s so entertaining and fun usually to continue on in a series with characters you already know.
YES so glad you will be reading The shadow of what was lost
I loved The ministry of time. I hope you’ll enjoy your read
I think you should read series books. If it was me, I would start with the second book of the duology, then whichever book is nearest the end of its series, to try to get some series finished.
That time I got drunk... made me realize I'm really not into spicy books 😆 (or at least monster spice) I'd like to see the series video, cause I also want to try some of the ones you mentioned 😄
Oh I love Atonement! Can’t wait to hear what you think of it. And obviously you have to see the movie afterwards - it’s so beautiful ❤
I'm excited to try it!
That was great ❤
Finishing series sounds like a good idea
That lip color is absolutely stunning on you!
Thank you!
I love the idea of continuing series you've started, because I also desperately need to do that. BUT I love the "reading books that piss me off" type videos because they often help me ditch books I've been considering as well, so honestly the Goodreads one has my vote, primarily because of the lowest rated part of that challenge 😂
I vote for highest rated on Goodreads tbr❤
What, both are good options!! I’d like option 1 just a tiny bit more but not by much.
I have Elena Knows on my physical TBR and I really want to read The Ministry of Time. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on those two especially, Emily ☺
Finishing series!!
Also can you do another video of reacting to 1 star reviews of your faves? really loved that vid :D
I vote for the highest rated books option. 📚
I vote for the highest rated, maybe you can find some more 5 star reads
Finishing series!!
Series!
I'm very curious what you'll think about The Ministry of Time. I've read an arc and didn't really love it. For me it had a lot of potential, but something just wasn't 'there', though it wasn't awful.
Series vlog! You need to get your shit together 😂
Atonement is one of my favorite books of all time, I loved it so much!
That's so good to hear!
You will LOVE Elena Knows
Im restarting brandons big books, a lot of people are at the moment with the new book coming out end of year.. John Gwynne is a must! all his books are fantastic/fun honestly. The shadow of what was lost is also great! more underrated but I loved it.
I've got That Time I Got Drunk... for July too (Buzzwordathon and r/fantasy reading challenges). I don't do romances, romantasy or spicy books as a general rule so looking forward to giving it a try and reading something outside of my comfort zone.
I also loved Ministry of Time - it's such a great mix of genres and I found it genuinely funny in places and really touching as well.
I really enjoyed many of Heinlein's books, I did read them when I was less critical of misogyny in books, but I don't remember him being too bad (in the ones I read--The Moon is a Harsh Mistress was a good one).
Atonement broke my heart, the movie is a fantastic adaptation. Good luck with that one
Oathbringer!
For books that you expect to hate, I recommend The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I actually enjoyed that one, but I read it about 15 years ago, and, like you, I am no longer interested in glossing over misogyny or other problematic aspects of books.
I don’t remember anything in particular that I glossed over in that one, but I have recently re-read some old favourites and been shocked by what I was willing to ignore in the past (looking at you, Milan Kundera).
I absolutely loved Atonement when I read it, but that was quite a few years ago now, and my brain has changed a lot since then, I'm interested to hear what you think!
I loved that time I got drunk... it was so fun and that's all it had to be
I see a theme! You should definitely do a book 2 vlog
Emily what if you for the second part of the year, try to continue one series every month? So you have one big Fantasy book each month and if you don’t like them, you have more time for other books. And if you enjoy them, good for you♥️
This is a solid idea, I might need to do that for myself 😂
I must begrudgingly admit that you and I have similar taste. 🤣🤣 I just recently read Garden Spells and I loved it! Reading Blood over bright haven now and also loving it. Dammit Emily, why are your recommendations so good?!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Isn't that good news? Now you have lots of recommendations from all my favorite videos lol
Ooh yes definitely continue series!! It will make you feel better, that sense of completion haha. :)
A while ago I googled Isaac Asimov and apparently he's assaulted women at events, so I got rid of his books, I saw a few on your shelf. If that's what he's like as a person, I doubt his writing would treat women any better.
My vote is for series in the hopes it will motivate me to continue some of the series I've started.
Oooh I’m very interested to see what you think about That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon. I tried to read it recently after seeing tons of glowing reviews and gave up halfway through! The modern slang in the writing didn’t work for me at all and I hated both the writing and all the characters 😢 (also my vote is for option b!)
Same, but I only made it 20% through. Although it did teach me a lesson to always read a sample before buying a book 🤷
I'm from Portugal and unfortunately we don't have Libby 🙃
I vote for the series video it will feel good to do some progress on series and you need to read things you like 😂 you deserve it
I vote for finishing or continuing series
Definitely voting to continue series! As far as books you'll hate: I haven't read Jim Butcher but you've already unhauled his other series so I don't have much hope for that one. :P Also I think I may've already say this, but just in case: Pratchett is my favorite author and he is amazing when ti comes to writing women, but I'm afraid you may not like his sense of humor considering other comedy books you dislike (like H2G2).
I’m currently listening to The Ministry of Time. I’d highly recommend it and Elena Knows.
🍀👋☘️📚📖📕☕️
I have to disagree. I dont think Emily will like it at all. It’s so poorly written.
I thing Jim Butcher's Furies of Calderon is going to be one you'll hate. It's got a multi-page SA section that is just...ugh.
Oathbringer!!
Free digital library cards: Broward County, Florida, Harris County, Texas. I live in Georgia and use these 2 as well and I have so many more choices.
I vote Two Twisted Crowns!!!
I saw a book on your shelves that I would be interested in seeing your reaction. It’s California by Edan Lepucki. I started it and stopped on page 122 but haven’t found the will to pick it back up.
I feel like option 1 is more helpful for you lol but ngl option 2 sounds more fun, so my vote is option 2
Books you will hate (or just won't like): Isaac Asimov - foundation series. I read the first book this month and only after at least 70% of the book was a (unimportant) female side character introduced. Before that, not even a mention that hints that women exist in that galaxy lol!
I also vote for the series challenge!!
Which library card did you pay for? I had Brooklyn public Library for a few years before they closed it to out-of-staters. I tried Houston public Library for a year, it just wasn't nearly as good and I ended up discontinuing it
Option 2 😊
Option 2!
Atonement is a great book ❤ I read it a few years ago and it's much better than the movie (and the movie is really good 😊).
My vote is highest rated on Goodreads.
Series!!
Before you even showed the shelf, I knew I was voting for a Terry Goodkind book. You will hate Wizard’s First Rule. So much SA
My husband had me read a Terry Goodkind book, and it definitely was a bit rough. I did read the whole Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. The stories weren't terrible, but the MC is definitely misogynistic. I couldn't tell which book was on your shelves, so if it is one of the other series, maybe it isn't as bad. I hope your reads go well.
Recommending from your shelves: Childhood's End - I read it some thirty years ago for the first time and the plot twist was delicious :) Not sure if it would feel as mind-blowing today as it was then, but I still believe it has a potential in this regard... (sorry, if you have read this one already, I have not seen all your videos)
I did read it a few years ago! The first twist was good but I lost interest more and more... wasn't for me sadly!
I'll be rereading Shadow of the Gods and Hunger of the Gods in october.
The spicy book I'm reading is Caught in the Basilisk's Gaze by Malory Dunlin it's a long one but so far so good
I love the read it or unhaul series. I find it so motivating even though I don’t actually try my own version out. Nonetheless, you are absolutely inspiring because I totally DNF’d My Annihilation because it was weird and gross and I didn’t want to deal with it anymore
That series is so fun but can definitely be torturous haha Last month went so well (well... it was very effective!) so I'm excited to try it again
No no, the title is “My Annihilation” by Fuminori Nakamura.
I love the Southern Reach trilogy
I read The Time I got Drunk and Saved a Demon last year. It was cute. Not a 5 star, but I had a good time. I actually listened to most of it on audiobook.
I need to read Longshadow by Olivia Atwater so that I can finish that series. If I finish that book I will have finished all the series that I want to finish where all the books are published. There are a few series that I don't think that I will finish and a few where I'm waiting for books. I also have several that I want to start.
You should read some danmei! I’d recommend starting with Heaven Official’s Blessing!
The Martian. Only because I kind of want to read it myself.
She read that several years ago, I recommend it and Project Hail Mary too.
I like the highest rated vlog idea. Elena Knows is great but very character focused and little to no plot.
Terry Goodkind please! 😅
Heard the ministry is good
I would be interested in you reading books you don’t think you’ll like. If you end up liking them, win. If you end up not liking them, you can declutter them, win. Win win!
Can I say I love your shirt? It's gorgeous! 😍 Where did you get it, it's perfect for summer!
Thank you! Sadly I've had it for a very long time!
oh boy that title 😂😄😂😂🌶️
Love the top you're wearing! Looking at your sci-fi/fantasy books, I think you probably won't like the David Eddings book. I remember his stuff as being very by-the-numbers and somewhat sexist.
I think you are going to hate Interview with a Vampire, you should read it! 😂
