Just a fun story: I met/saw Mike Taylor perform solo YEARS ago at a dive bar in Baltimore and loved his music. I left with a free demo CD that just had his name on it and I spent numerous years trying to find more from him to no avail.... then just a couple years ago I put up a drawing video on my other RUclips account with one of the songs as the background and I got hit with a copyright notice from Hiss Golden Messenger. Not only were they cool about it and just asked that I credit them, I had now FINALLY found more of Mike's music! I had no idea, until then, that he had formed a band and wasn't just a solo act. Anyway, Mike Taylor and Hiss Golden Messenger are super underrated!
I've never heard this band but my favorite WIMB episodes are the ones where I open multiple tabs on my computer of new/old music I want to explore. Thank you, Amoeba!!
Love this band, and love these episodes. It's so cool to get turned on to new music from musicians themselves (that I already love). Thanks for giving us this!
So many musicians I'd love to see on this show. Amoeba! Can you make any of these happen? Yusuf/Cat Stevens Derek Trucks (of The Derek Trucks Band) Jack White Sara Bareilles MisterWives Jack Johnson Broken Bells Taylor Hawkins (of Foo Fighters) Gary Clark Jr. Paramore (or just Hayley Williams :)) John Mayer Robert Randolph (of Robert Randolph and the Family Band) Zac Brown Dave Matthews ...to name a few :)
actually i AM a fan of the *dummer* of the band. he's not usually dummer than the other the band members but on this particular record he really knows how to lay into the dums.
The guy on the left looks like TJ Miller, the guy in the middle looks like Spike Jonze, and the guy on the right looks like if Tallest man on earth (Christian) had a baby with Caleb from Kings of Leon.

Great Band with an outstanding taste! Found some unknown treasures to check out
I came for Hiss, and I left with the newfound knowledge of John Moreland. So stoked I watched this video.
I just played the first song on that album and was like wow. Love finding artists I haven’t heard.
Outstanding gospel selections among other goodies

That's awesome! Exactly the experience we're going for.
Check out the playlists the band has made on Spotify. It'll open your world.
One of the best episodes ever. It added a lot of albums to my list!
Love these guys and their music

selections by these guys. one of the best in the series...excellent band too.
I did not know Phil Cook was in Hiss Golden Messenger. He has some pretty good solo stuff out too.
God Moves On The Water is my favorite Blind Willie Johnson song/record actually (although I have Mother's Children Have A Hard Time on 78)
Just love your band, guys. Brazilian hugs
Great episode as always. On a side note, the tall guy to the left looks a bit like famous FC Barcelona defender Carles Puyol.

Im a McCartney fan but would never describe him as the 'deepest' of the Beatles.

You guys need a radio station. Ear opening.
Wow
I wonder if that fella with the hairy neck is still sprawled out all over the CD's?
The sensitive Beardo made some pro choices!

Price tags on album covers. Lame
Dude... enough with the Gospel albums man.
did the guy in the middle get hit in the face with a frying pan?
That's the worst episode by far.
