“Once again was not necessarily trying to get the Olympic standard”
Parker always comes out swinging with these interviews
@JakeLayman-md4fwgive an example (a verbatim quote) of him disparaging white women sprinters during commentary.
Go ahead.
@@EightFrancs Agreed..infact I have heard Bolton applaud and extol Abbey Steiner abilities many many times
and i love it
Parker's best chance to get a top 3 and qualify for the Olympics was to do exactly what she did. Cranny, St. Pierre, and Schweitzer were at the top of their game in their professional training schedules. Knowing they all had stronger kicks than she has, she needed to make the race very hard and she needed for one of them to have a not-great day, but they all had great days. She's coming off a heavy-loaded NCAA season. It's crazy that she achieved yet another PB.
But she didn't execute the plan. They were only running 2:58s per 1000m which is only 14:55...not going to burn the kicks out of the top contenders with that. Plus she shoudve not front run the whole time; make someone else lead for the second mile then push the final mile. She threw no surges in to put them into oxygen debt...it was just one 2:58 after another and they just drafted with little effort expended. Her last 1000 was only 2:55...the winner of the steeple ran that with barriers and the water jump to negotiate.
Parker did great, impressive performance.
She ran fearlessly, with heart. Respect!
I am so impressed with Parker’s 4th place! Didn’t expect her to finish that high up.
Great race. This was the first time I recall seeing pain in her face while running. She definitely gave it her best effort.
She isn't known for having a strong kick so I think it definitely made sense for her to keep the pace honest and try to slowly drop people who can't keep up. Unfortunately there were three talented ladies that were undroppable.
She was standing up ... I'd fall down checking my mailbox. ;) Go #FloridaGirl.
She hung right with the big 3. Big props!
Congratulations, Parker. You made this an honest race, and you were amazing,
I’m SO PROUD of you young lady. You busted your ass and it showed thru your eyes. You embody both grace and compassion with a tinge of good natured sass. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model.
She ran a fantastic race and should be extremely proud.
Parker youre a Huge inspiration! You are amazing!
Smart gal ditching the social media.
Cool to see such a fearless front runner. I hope she sticks with this system and just runs them off her heels. Well done PV. Fun watching you this season.
No chance of that happening lol she's too slow of a miler
I’ll definitely be in the crowd watching her next time! This is real talent and true inspiration for me, a young distance runner. I hope next time I’ll be there as an athlete but if not a spectator 🩷
Just a matter of time before she makes the team and likely wins an Olympic medal. She’s young, but clearly incredibly tenacious - more experiences with races at this level with only help her. She’s going to be even more of a star than she already is!
You run every race with puirpose and heart and this was no exception. You did a fantastic job and made every runner in that race run a better race than they would have. I have no doubts you will continue to improve over the years and will get your turn in the coming Olympics and World Championships if that remains your goal. It is a total pleasure watching you run. Thank you for that. It's also impressive how you can put up with some of these inane questions with such poise and patience. Keep it fun!
What a gutsy effort!
She ran a wonderful race. Absolutely riveting. Looking forward to watching future races.
FUTURE OLYMPIC MEDALIST
Parker is so much more than a runner. She is so intelligent and charming to listen to. You can sense she will be successful in far more than athletics. I will follow her with great pride and hope. As an older man who loved running, I consider her a true hero to my grandkids.
Why don't interviewers listen. #1. She had to repeat that she wasn't seeking an Olympic standard. #2> Why ask the question, "Are you proud of your effort" when she clearly stated that less than 1 minute into the video? A patient young lady. Congrats to Parker. She trains smart and hopefully has many great races ahead in her career.
I know, lol they're trying to play the "you didn't make it card" but she's just like "I ran in the Olympic trials!"
I am a Florida Gator and lived in FL for over 13 years. But I am from AZ. Back in 1995, I met Billys Mills - the surprise winner of the 1964 Olympic 10k. Mills had burned out at Kansas in his senior year and surprised the running community by qualifying in 1964. Some runners peak later in their mid to late 20s. Front-running in college doesn't always translate to international victories among the elite. Steve Prefontaine had the same problem in the 1972 Olympics. He burned out at the very end after front-running at times. His friend was Frank Shorter, also a Gator Alumnus and Olympian. Parker is very young and has potential and experience now to aim for the 2028 Olympics. Best wishes from a UF Alumnus. Go Gators!
Actually, Frank ran for Yale.
Nobody is reading that chief buy a diary
@@terraflow__bryanburdo4547 Yes, you are right. But he also went to law school at Florida. He is a Florida Alumnus and active in the Gator network.
@@shunsuikyoraku5428 This reeks of racial prejudice. But so what else is new? Forum comments reveal a wide spectrum of thoughts which sometimes include racism. But I wonder why someone would be racist in track and field which is multi-cultural with many countries represented. It's not a "white's only" country club event of the 1950s.
Congratulations Parker Valby!
I find the strategies and strengths involved in these professional races so interesting (like the difference between a 1500m sprinter’s skills and a 10000m distance runner’s skills in the same race).
Parker did great. This was her one of her first pro races and happened to be an Olympic trial. In four years, she’ll be leading.
Great Run Parker!
It's a pleasure knowing you're in Oregon giving it all you got! You left it all on the track.
She's awesome. The qualifiers should buy her a beer for doing all the work in that race. Hopefully she'll get a spot if Elle decides not to run it. And I hope she's able to negotiate a great pro contract after such a great race.
By far her most mature interview. Great effort out there. Realistically, this was probably the best performance she could’ve given in the 5k.
She could have run 1440 if someone else helped even a little bit with the pace. Like at least two or three of the laps. Our pros are in for a rude awakening at the Olympics if they have to sit on a college girl
@@xcbaby123 I still don’t think they’re metal chances are high, but they didn’t have to sit on her, it just made it the easiest race for them. All three of them are going to double back in the 1500 or 10,000 so why do any more than you have to? They put 11 seconds on her and the last 800. Obviously it isn’t easy to lead for 4200, but she was never going to kick with those three women.
@@chazdavis1644 completely agree with you she definitely wouldn't out kick them. I just think she could have been a little more competitive if they helped even a little bit but they didn't
@@xcbaby123 also, dictation for the win. Multiple typos in my above reply lol. Their* medal*
This young lady did a great job and has nothing to be ashamed of. She did what others only wish they could
How can you not admire Parker for what she has done the last 18 months!!! she has found competition and unfortunately, her timing onto the professional arena is just about a year off.
Definitely her most mature interview yet- honestly everything happens for a reason and (just my opinion) I think she needed to be a bit humbled by the pros. Really pulling for her in the 10k but she still has a lot to learn with racing and tactics when going up against pros and running in the packs. When in packs she seems to really struggle with trying not to trip.
Next time will be different. She's still growing.
Great race!!
she’s awesome & courageous…a bit of Pre there
I really thought she was going to win but she has alot to learn and work to do, the others smashed her.
Great race, Parker. I wish commentators/interviewers would stop asking ridiculous questions. Leave hurting, frustrated, angry athletes alone. How do you think someone feels who just pbed a race but is one spot shy of making the Olympics? It stinks.
She ran such a great race, it was so much fun to watch! Even if she didn't make the team, she ran her own race and did it perfectly! It was a personal best and you sure can't do any better than that!👏I think she probably will get to compete at the Olympics, assuming Elle St. Pierre makes the 1500 team, because the 5k final is the evening before the 1500 heats. At the Olympic level, that double would be very tough, and I think St. Pierre will likely concentrate on the 1500.
she looks like she is ready to cry. she ran very well. up against world level talent. congrats to her.
She ran her race which was running from the front which is what you are going to have to do in Paris if you want any chance of beating the East Africans
She races like Pre. Remins me a little of the 72 5k in Munich.
Yes ! Pre lives :)
She ran the best race she could !
Should move up in distance, more LSD, half marathon or marathon, because she like Katelyn Tuohy does not have a kick
"How badly did you want to make this team today?" = Dumbest Question . . . EVER!
Lol not really. She said she was just happy to be there. Typically there's a gap between those who are happy to be there and those who really want or expect to make the team. Yw
Parker is an amazing runner. I wish her the best of luck. If St. Perrier does not run the 5k Parker is in>
She did extremely well, don't forget she is much younger than Cranny and St.Pierre....in time perhaps she will get faster.
I hope you increase, and next olimpic game sure you will go..
She's done a lot this year...Regroup and come back next year, babe! Or just go make some big bucks in DL
Now that she is a pro she needs a coach that can develop her kick like the NAU coach has done with Nico Young.
"How badly did you want to make this team?"
THAT IS AN AWFUL QUESTION.
PLEASE DO BETTER MR GAULT.
Throw away social media...and you will be happier
College grad says “gotten”.
She seemed snippy with some of her responses. I look forward to her emotional intelligence improving as she matures into a pro athlete with sponsors who won't like those kinds of responses.
Knew she would destroy Touhy! Touhy even got lapped by Cranny and St Pierre !
Tuohy is coming off an injury no need to put her down
Tuohy is 22 and was running in a Trials final. She still ran a 15:18. Don't sell her short. Both she and Parker have two Olympic cycles to which to look forward.
Big Congrats!!!!!!
These questions are gross
Great competitor she lacks finishing speed
Parker needs to train the 1,500m to improve her speed and kick a/k/a ESP...but no matter what she does, she is the most beautiful woman in women's running.
Allowing social media to affect her mental health? Pathetic
🤡
Just like you.
Criticizing her for protecting her mental health? Seriously? Proud of her performance and for answering questions.
@@mariqstigler2197 ironic coming from a person with no profile pic. Put your face up and see how it affects your mental health, sweetie :)
you wouldn't know how it affects your mental health til you're in her situation. My mental health would certainly be affected if I constantly got tagged in everything and messaged
Parker go to the Pacific Ocean the town of Newport southbeach the lighthouse before you leave the state it’s majestic worth the trip
They ask her so many stupid questions leave her alone let her be human
