I love my Ridgid power tools, especially because of the LSA. On the other hand, I've got just about every Ryobi 40V tool for my yard (which isn't particularly big), and yet I go through a whole bunch of 3, 4 and 5 AH 40 V batteries (the 6 AH ones are for my mower) when I'm doing the full yard--something you'd need a boatload of Ridgid 18V batteries and chargers for, assuming that you could get equivalent power from the 18V platform vs. Ryobi's 40V platform (which I sincerely doubt). The weed-wacker might work of an 18V battery. But the blower--no f'ing way.
In my experience, the Ryobi 40v batteries just suck. I've had the mower and the expandit weedeater/blower/etc... and the batteries just stop working constantly. I like Ridgid for the LSA, but for larger tools, skip Ryobi and just go to Ego. There is a massive difference between Ego and Ryobi's quality. The Ryobi mower would constantly stall for me and shut off if the grass wasn't already short. The Ego hasn't even slowed down for me.
I've been using an 18 volt (just like DeWalt they call their tools 20 volt because when fully charged the battery show 20 volts) Worx leaf blower for about 5 years now and it's great. However some people need a 40 volt tool because they like playing with their leaf blowers when a large rake & trash can would easily do the job.
@@jayryan7473 For Ryobi, an important difference between their 40V and 18V blowers (in addition obviously to power and capacity) is that the 40V systems come with 5 year warranties and the 18V ones are only 3 years. Since I'm heavy into their 40V platform for multiple blowers, multiple weed whackers, outdoor vacuum, wet/dry vacuum, edger, pole saws, chain saws, pressure washer and more, having their 40V blowers simply makes sense. And they work great for de-watering a freshly washed car.
Great video as always. Sad to hear the power is not there. I agree they put them out to say they have them. Still might get the saw and the trimmer as i am in the battery system. Any release dates?
Great video. Looks like ok stuff if you’re already into the Ridgid line, and definitely better than having to buy a bunch of new bat-rays, but I just watched your video with that nifty little 40V Ryobi 12” chainsaw and it looks like it went through the 6x6 almost twice as fast. Hey a few extra seconds a week probably isn’t a big deal for many but too bad they don’t have a 40V line.
I feel like since they're all owned by the same company, they switch their influence around to get the markets to buy other products some years, and this could be an off year for ridgid. That said, I do believe they listen to customer feedback, and pushing reviews could influence them to improve tools for later models, possibly even bigger battery platforms, and I've used ridgid tools for the better part of a decade, and will continue to do so, even though some years I do not rush to buy new tools
Looks like the head turns counter clockwise on the line trimmer, and that’s a good thing. When it turns clock wise your pants and shoes get covered in grass and the odd stone can hit your face. This tool would be good for the average suburban home owner who is already on the Ridgid 18 volt platform.
Good review. I do believe however that all these tools were meant to run on the 8 and 12 amp not the 6. I believe the tools would have felt less underpowered, especially when those have the 21700 cells. I understand using the 6 amp, if it is what you have, it is what you have.

Out of all items reviewed in this video, the the 8 amp battery was the most impressive. Maybe test all items again with the 8 amp battery and see how they perform. Just a thought Clint.
I was seriously thinking about getting the Ridgid weed eater but after seeing this I'll probably just go with the Milwaukee since I have batteries for both brands.
Don't do it! That Milwaukee has some serious issues with vibration. Look into it online. I have one and never use it anymore because of the vibration. You can fix it if you replace the head with another brand, by why have to do that on something so expensive? Go with EGO for all your outdoor power equipment. Trust me, you won't be disappointed at all.
I bought the trimmer and I can get about 5 min of run time on the slow setting and then the trimmer shuts off. Seems it's overheating? I was using the 6ah octane batteries. Had the same issues using the new 6ah max output batteries Has anyone else had issues with the trimmer shutting down/stop spinning? After the trimmer cools down I can start it back up.

I think the minimum voltage for OPE should be 40v if you buy something…. A lot of 18 v is just not a that powerful but good for someone that has a small yard or doesn’t have much to do or maintain .
No outdoor power equipment should be battery powered. Its absolutely stupid, cannot perform like ICE/corded tools, and a complete waste of resources. Overly priced and terribly inefficient.
I disagree, Calc. I need/use a chainsaw or polesaw maybe twice a year. When I do, it is light duty. For these purposes it is much easier to charge a battery than deal with the trouble and maintenance that accompany carburetors and small engines. For my needs, I will happily trade a bit of power loss for convenience. My point is simply, the best product is often dictated by one’s need and use.
Should probably be running the 8 amp EXP batteries on those them batteries have got plenty of power I have the rear handle saws and that thing is a beast
Ridgid’s 18V OPE is the orange version of Ryobi’s 18V OPE! Unfortunately this was Ridgid putting something on the market to say they have OPE too! Hopefully they will get better!
New sub here. I’m on the Ridgid platform. But weed whacker, chain saw and blower are dewalt. What I want here in Canada is the new Ridgid high torque hammer drill for my ice auger. Supposed to be a good drill. Just can’t find it in Canada yet. Great vid tho.
@@brandwilbll good to know! I use an older Ridgid hammer drill right now. But I’m interested in the new one for sure. Better price than going dewalt. And I saw Ridgid has a new 12amp battery coming out too. Prolly just gunna be a while coming to Canada..
I'm going to go ahead and share this with you as a freebie I was at the Home Depot tonight checking out the clearance area. I ended up buy a Rigid battery kit but not just any kit. It is a Max Output Battery Kit, consisting of a Bag, Charger, 4.0 MaH Battery and 6.0 MaH Battery. Both are the Max Output Battery's. I Paid $85 + tax. That is correct, there is no typo, you dont glasses. Eighty Five dollars plus tax. Don't look for it online it doesn't exist. I was at this same store Monday evening and checked the price on the kit, it was $119 then and there were 2 of them. Tonight 1 and it was $34 less. Check them clearance prices because what's listed on those endcaps is not correct it's probably much lower.
I think they 8 and 12 are the batteries that are made for all their outdoor equipment they are the new EXP batteries you can put the others on it but they're not made for it they cannot put out the power that the tools need
I have the other blower that’s about half the price of this one and it does pretty good with the 6amp battery. May be a decent consideration for those that want a ridgid blower but don’t want to spend nearly $200. I think I paid $70 for the other and it gets the job done. It lasts about a solid 20 minutes or so at full speed? Then again maybe not cause I tell my wife the same thing about me and she disagrees. BAM! There’s also a dinky blower that’s like a mini blower which I also have, it works decent to blow off light stuff like dry leaves off a porch etc. It also does stuff like blow up air mattresses and pool floats. But I always just bust out the mid sized one because why would I use the lesser power one when I can have the moar power one.
Tours the weed eater goes I would say they either need to put on a bigger motor or take the motor and put it on the head so it's not having to spin up that shaft! Yeah I said shaft

Clint is it imagination or has the train derailment affected you. No Pilot holes for chainsaws cutting square trees🤔. Clint do you think that Ridgid OPE will hit in HD stores or online shopping only. When you were showing some information in white letters with white background, kinda washed out. Keep’m coming, even the humors
All we know Ridgid is going down hill.....the only thing we don't know is the relationship between TTi and Emerson, may be downhill as well, Emerson need TTI for his battery platform plus variety of tools options and TTi need Emerson Ridgid plumbing expertise for Milwaukee M18 line. Keep Ridgid alive not overpower Milwaukee is its goal.
This is kinda like TTI putting a new transmission into an old car they can't bear to part with. Just for the handful of people already on the platform to grab just a few more tool sales. Limited market, limited growth potential.
Ridgid should never have released this in the USA. Seems pretty mediocre when Ryobi 40v is out there. AEG has 58 volt outdoor power tools. I bet those are way more quality items that would have fit the Ridgid brand better.
That metal ring on the leaf blower is to prevent to blower tube from being damaged as it is dragged across the pavement or driveway for example.

My Ryobi 4.0 MaH HP Battrey & Whisper Blower 27min on Turbo
How much will it cost
Should probably be running the 8 amp EXP batteries on those them batteries have got plenty of power I have the rear handle saws and that thing is a beast
Ridgid’s 18V OPE is the orange version of Ryobi’s 18V OPE! Unfortunately this was Ridgid putting something on the market to say they have OPE too! Hopefully they will get better!
I have a 18v ryobi blower and it's way more powerful than that turd of a ridgid
@@ns_racinglol they should’ve stolen ryobi’s 700cfm design
New sub here.
I’m on the Ridgid platform. But weed whacker, chain saw and blower are dewalt.
What I want here in Canada is the new Ridgid high torque hammer drill for my ice auger. Supposed to be a good drill. Just can’t find it in Canada yet.
Great vid tho.
That's what I use for my auger, works great!
Man I wish they would do 14" bars.
A hedge trimmer would be great
Do a video vs Milwaukee vs 18 volt Ryobi
Tours the weed eater goes I would say they either need to put on a bigger motor or take the motor and put it on the head so it's not having to spin up that shaft! Yeah I said shaft
Luv ur show bro n ur "slangery"!😜 Do u have giveaways or anyway I can get sum free tools? I'm a retired/ disabled journeyman electrician, recently divorced and I struggle living on just SSD/monthly. I can barely pay my bills let alone, buy new tools. I used to be able to when, I was working and really could use sum new cordless yard/work tools. TY n keep up the gr8 work. 🙏👍👍👍
The Ridgid Outdoor Product are so "wonderful", and so in "demand", that my local Home Depot (the exclusive authorized seller of Ridgid products) isn't carrying a SINGLE ONE of them!! (Ryobi, yes, Milwaukee, yes, BUT not a SINGLE Ridgid Outdoor product).
After octane left I'm not super impressed with products. I burnt up a chainsaw after 6 battery charges. 8.0ah battery used.
1:40 this test is BS Clint. no pilot holes.... WTF bro
Bang for the buck, Ryobi 40v all day. Regardless of Chaka Gillis and his hate speech. 🤣
Test on wet wood, tougher grass deeper leaves, does not look as good as Toro 60volt.
Good thing you waited until 2023 to do this video because two years ago the "woodage" would've cost you $425.00!!!
Ridgid needs a right angle impact wrench !!!!!!
My heart string trimmer is more powerful than that. That looks like it's laying it down more than cutting it off
They don't even compare with the Ryobi One +.
I feel like Ridgid creates a lot of stuff that we don’t really need and not enough stuff I’d like to have. Like this boom box. Who cares? Maybe I don’t appreciate because I’m not a destruction worker.
Clint is it imagination or has the train derailment affected you. No Pilot holes for chainsaws cutting square trees🤔. Clint do you think that Ridgid OPE will hit in HD stores or online shopping only. When you were showing some information in white letters with white background, kinda washed out. Keep’m coming, even the humors
...almost positive (wink, wink).
It’s real price like!
Hey Clint I need a translator I don’t understand some of the words u use 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤪😖
Seems ridgid fell short on this lineup.. Was expecting better.
The blower is weaker than a hairdryer
I stopped buying tools from Chinese tool companies many years ago!
Ryobi sounds more powerful than that Just saying
All we know Ridgid is going down hill.....the only thing we don't know is the relationship between TTi and Emerson, may be downhill as well, Emerson need TTI for his battery platform plus variety of tools options and TTi need Emerson Ridgid plumbing expertise for Milwaukee M18 line. Keep Ridgid alive not overpower Milwaukee is its goal.
This is kinda like TTI putting a new transmission into an old car they can't bear to part with.
Just for the handful of people already on the platform to grab just a few more tool sales. Limited market, limited growth potential.
👍👍
Ridgid should never have released this in the USA. Seems pretty mediocre when Ryobi 40v is out there. AEG has 58 volt outdoor power tools. I bet those are way more quality items that would have fit the Ridgid brand better.
Been waiting for these for years. They will and already are selling like crazy!
@@brettradecki I guess there's a market for the people who didn't watch the reviews... lol
@@sparks869 I’m waiting for the push mower next. Don’t want to invest in a new battery platform when I have all of the Ridgid tools.
Blower is weak.
Great review of products.
Trashy language needs to go though!
Ummmmm. Trashy language?????
Moist LOL
doesn't sound very powerful
Very disappointing That's all I got to say
