The sunni and shia are all the ummah of the prophet alayhi salam. We should look beyond the age old political establishments that created divide between the two
faith cannot be compared to politics. but those who do not have true faith in their heart are recognized in their heart, and in their speech.. and no matter how much you search in history, you will not find it. when people don't have iman they hsr a thousand excuses for their split. so neither Sunni nor Shia will ever have true Faith.. when someone asks a Muslim, are you Muslim, answer yes, I am Sunni or Shia. if you are a Muslim you belong to a book Quran .. if you belong to the Quran you are Islam .. and not Sunni or Shia .. but as God says the devil is your sworn enemy. and When the Prophet Muhammed A S changed his life .. then the devil came in between the believers, and the devil succeeds in taking the shirt off Ali .. by giving the other caliphates. The word imam means wisdom .. therefore the chosen one is guided and taught with the wisdom of God . and that is only 1 of 4 gifts God gave him.

Dr. Moustafa, Yes, Sunni, and even Salafi school all believes in the birth of Al Mahdi in end times. But the Mahdi of Ahle Sunah or of the Salaf differs vastly from the school that your represent i.e. Twelver Shīʿism. Hope once the Mahdi comes all will recognize him despite vast difference about each of these schools belief about him.
Now a fundamental question arises where in ahlul sunnah does it say clearly the Mahdi is not born yet because in shia literature it clearly says he is Already born??
Thank you for your comment. Despite having differences in the belief of his current existence, it is vital that all of us Muslims unite on the belief that he is the Imam who will establish peace and justice throughout the world and as Muslims, we all have a responsibility towards working for this cause which is the cause of Allah. When Allah sees how dedicated we are to reform ourselves and our societies InshaAllah He will bless us with his reappearance.
This is a good question - I think one of the arguments is the narration that states that Allah will raise him in a single night. However, in our school of thought this is considered the time of Qiyam where Allah gives permission to the Imam [AJ] to rise which will be in Masjid al Haram. Additionally, Imam Mahdi [AJ] cannot be a "regular", pious individual who will be endowed by Allah in one night to spread peace and justice across the world. Furthermore, in both Sunni and Shia hadiths it is established that when Nabi Isa [AS] descends from the heavens at the time of prayer, Imam Mahdi [AJ] will ask him to lead. Nabi Isa [AS] then puts his hand on Imam Mahdi's [AJ] shoulder and says (I am paraphrasing) that he has a greater right [to lead this prayer]. Nabi Isa [AS] is one of the 5 Ulul Azm Prophets that has a very high status. The fact that Imam Mahdi [AJ] will be leading a universal messenger in prayer is a very important point about the status of Imam Mahdi [AJ].
@@prep4imammahdi Thank you for your response. Most schools within the house of Islam agrees, Al Mahdi will appear and establish peace and justice. “His name is similar to my name” does not mean his name is Muhammed. If this was the case the prophet pbuh would have explicitly said that his name will be Muhammad ibn Abdullah. Which he did not. Therefore it cannot be confirmed that the mahdis name is Muhammad ibn Abdullah. This is a fabrication and nothing more than conjecture which has been passed down from scholar to scholar without actual contemplation on the Hadith
My proof is the Hadith itself. Where does it say Muhammad ibn Abdullah? It doesn’t. “yuatuhu ismu isme” which translates to his name is compatible with my name or his name is similar to my name. Not his name is exactly my name. The key word is yuatuhu which most people skip over completely.
Let's assume the Prophet (S) meant compatible or similar. We cannot unequivocally reject that Imam Mahdi's [AJ] name is Muhammad. Also, here is a hadith in Sunan Abi Dawud (book 37 Hadith #4267) which has been graded Hasan Sahih. You are more than welcome to contact the English translators and ask them about this narration where they use "same as mine" Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If only one day of this world remained. Allah would lengthen that day (according to the version of Za'idah), till He raised up in it a man who belongs to me or to my family whose father's name is the same as my father's, who will fill the earth with equity and justice as it has been filled with oppression and tyranny (according to the version of Fitr). Sufyan's version says: The world will not pass away before the Arabs are ruled by a man of my family whose name will be the same as mine.
I respectfully agree with you in that we cannot rule out that the name may be Muhammad. But I believe that it should go both ways in that we cannot say that it is or it isn’t. Allah knows best. The question that I wanted to raise is why were the prophet’s (pbuh) words implicit rather than explicit for something simple like a name. There seems to be something veiled by his choice of wording because logically it would have been very easy for him to say his name is Muhammad ibn Abdullah.
InshaAllah when Imam Mahdi [AJ] reappears, everything will be clarified. I think the most important thing we need to do is to prepare ourselves (first) and our communities towards establishing justice and equity.
