what is the meaning of "least" and "best" in the compression setting of images? Does we get best quality images if we move the bar to "best" or is it for maximum compression and least quality?

      Hi @adityakhatri2413,
I tried to search the Mac Automator guide for exact information, but it wasn't there. shorturl.at/kfU5g
However, in most software, and in the context of image compression settings, "least" and "best" refer to the trade-off between image quality and file size.
*Least amount of compression means the image is compressed the least, so the quality remains high but the file size is larger.
*Best amount of compression means the image is compressed the most, so the file size is smaller, but the quality may suffer.
So I decided to test how these settings affect file sizes, and ran four different tests:
      1. Compressed a PDF to JPEG at 300 dpi with "Best" and "Least" settings - both resulted in 844 KB.
      2. Compressed a PDF to JPEG at 200 dpi with "Best" and "Least" settings - both resulted in 844 KB.
      3. Compressed a PDF to JPEG at 90 dpi with "Best" and "Least" settings - both resulted in 844 KB.
      4. Compressed a PDF to PNG at 90 dpi with "Best" and "Least" settings - both resulted in 4.6 MB.
In most tools, the "Best" and "Least" options make a difference, but these settings in the Automator Workflow Action don't seem to affect the file sizes at all!
      Thank you for asking 🍀
