Was about to delete this account along with this video, but noticed that the views have spiked a bit recently, so I'll keep it up. I'm glad you're all enjoying the nostalgia trip - Minecraft has changed a lot over the last 9 years! For those asking, I think the texture pack was painterly - one of the customisable ones. It's been a very long time since I've played Minecraft (about 8 years...) so I'm sorry if I'm wrong.
I wouldn't necessarily call it "ahead of its time". Some amazing noteblock songs were created even one day after they had been added. But sure, this particular one is weirdly beautiful
@@4rtui1 I believe it's painterly pack, atleast the one i remember. you could pick and choose all sorts of different textures for all the blocks and items, and it'd automagicly get compiled in to a pack you could just drag'n drop
Wow guess your recommended had some good memories in mind too, reminds me that I have been around your channel since 1.3 first released which was no short time ago now, those were the days.
I think the thing that makes me nostalgic about this is it's simplicity and it's imperfection. The fact that it's obvious the path was created randomly, jutting through a forest that's still filled with trees, sheep, and pigs. The ambient sounds the mobs and environment make, even the low resolution, create this sense of "humbleness" that's lost in todays minecraft videos, where everything is polished and perfect. Nowadays videos like this are usually highly optimized, in tune, without these subtle imperfections that provide personality. Back then everything was so much more simple, there were no rules to make a good minecraft video, just passion and simplicity.
It feels the quality of the videos developed with the game, but back then it was like discovering a new place or witnessing the beginning of a fandom; its world felt a lot smaller with how much more of a community feeling it had where people shared what they just thought was cool, but at the same time felt so much bigger with the then unexplored potential that people worked to uncover. I still remember watching videos about pocket edition 0.3.0 (nyan seed anyone?) or the beginnings of many YT'ers on the xbox 360 version back around ~TU1 to TU4.
