Dis Namibia vir jou nou... eers vrek ons van die droogte dan vrek ons van die reen. Reen is mooi hier by ons maar gevaarlik. At least is julle almal veilig en het 'n experience wat party Namibans nie eers kan vertel nie. :)
My regrets for you having this happen to you. I camped here years ago with my wife. This was coming from the Richtersberg Camp Site. We got stuck there for 24 hours. The plants that are going to come up, and flower will be worth a trip.
Hi Yvette. Wow!!! That looks scary. We left the day before! Glad you guys are ok ! (Mike. We camped next to you ) btw Check your date. Says 2020? Take care and good luck ! All the best for 2021
Hey Mike. Wow, was hectic. We were so grateful to your friends and the new campers that arrived after you left for their assistance. Their camp was also taken out though. Have corrected the year 😉
@@yvetteoehley9067 yes. We met them at Hand of God 😅 and then realised they were headed to our camp site when they said where they’re going ... if it’s any consolation we also had a breakdown (fuel .. BRAND NEW .. pump related) midway between Richtersveld and Alex bay 🤬 ... R 20k for tow to Cape Town ... hope you guys don’t have too long to wait at Sendilings!
@@mikec705 Sorry to hear 😐, crap note on which to end the trip. Recovery vehicles collected the trailer yesterday, busy tying up some logistical lose ends and should be out of here tomorrow.
@@yvetteoehley9067 Well that’s good news. Hope you get on the road ASAP and have a please talk journey home. At least you have a great survival story to tell. Hopefully we’ll meet you at Richtersveld again 👍🏻👍🏻
Alfred, Richtersberg sit op die wal van die Oranje, and daardie stroom is n systroom wat uit die berge kom. Dit is n goeie uur of 2 se ry van daar na die hoof kampterrein en kantoor by sendelingsdrift... Shame, dis rof...
The water did not come down the Orange river. The water came down the road to the campsite from the mountains side. The whole area in the back where the roads split to Tatasberg was under water.
i sincerely hope you all got out ok . Thank you so much for sharing so we can all learn. Im sure its no solace but you guys have had such an adventure and have learnt more than we can know.
I'm actually a born and bred Soetie. My Afrikaans is not the best, but one saying I know, would be perfect " as jy Dom is, moet jy maar af kak" every brochure and every camping site everywhere it clearly says... DO NOT CAMP IN RIVER BEDS... It's easy as that.
I do not understand why people set up campin a dry river bed during the rainy season! Sitting behind my latptop to watch this, was not at all comfortable after the phone was turned around. I have a cramp in my neck now.
I do not think that is a dry river bed. That is a set camp site, where people have been camping for years. This is a very specific event that could not be foreseen. Lets not judge people if we do not know the full story.
I have a new respect for Jeep. Prevailing against such a strong current like that! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Normally even in the rainy season there are never any water here
Wow! We camped exactly there, just a week before you. This is crazy. Very bad luck, could not have seen that coming. Hope you are all okay.
That is why you don't camp in riverbeds, nice as it may seem 🤔
Daai Cruiser het 'n winch. Plaas julle hak die kamp wa aan die winch en trek hom terug😃

Not in Namibia. In northern Cape on the southern bank of the Orange river.
@@plumberplumber6528 aaah ok. Thx :)
Wow that must be a hectic experiance
Oh my word, unbelievable glad everyone's safe

Not a pleasant experience. Hope you all ok and the losses covered by insurance.
That's hectic. These Flash floods in Namibia really are Flash.
Hope you are all safe.
So what happened after? Did you managed to recover the camper trailer?
We did.
I was doubting that jeep. Did well for itself. Are there any follow up to this? Got to love the bush

Ek het uitdruklik gevra of hulle die mense gewaarsku het......toe slegs een sluis oop was...swak besluitneming
Wow! And we were camping there just a couple of weeks ago!
Yup, in Australia it is common knowledge that you do not camp in ANY river bed OR under a Gum tree, ‘cause you never know.
now that is what happens tp stupid people!
Baie hartseer. Baie sterkte
I pray for you all.
Camping in a dry riverbef during rainy season.... clever🙄
Was the campsite not informed of the sluices being opened up river? 🙁 Glad all humans were safe!
this isnt the main river is it , side tributary ?

Ek dink julle het gevoel soos daai renosters in Christiana in 1988
My mind is thinking how to capture the runoff water and slow down the flow and replenish the aquifers.
😭
Ai ai so groot skade.
2020 or 2021?
2021
Run run run water will wash all of u away

Well, its better than a pain in the ass! 😆
🤣
Camping in a river that is not very clever
It was a road, NOT a river bed.
@@proudsaffa2357 o ok a road in the rivier bed i see
