College Slam (SNES)

What if I told you there was yet another NBA Jam but with a college coat of paint? Say hello to College Slam. As it says on the tin this is using the Jam engine but now you can pick from a plethora of NCAA teams and even select what two position players you want to put out on the court! There appeared to be a way to call timeout to swap players mid half but I couldn't figure out the button combo. AI felt somewhere between Jam and TE. Which is to say it felt playable but there's certainly some AI shenanigans going on, though at this point that is to be expected.

Strangely, all sound effects and not just the announcer are higher pitched than normal. If you lower it, it's the same as Tournament Edition. It's also sped up a bit

Still can't believe Acclaim was allowed to do this back then. It's so shameless. No wonder Midway took over ALL porting of their home games after this....

Acclaim did some pretty scuzzy stuff back in the day. Asset flipping for an easy spinoff was right up their alley

Shameless, yes. But they were fun to play at least. Fortunately, Acclaim knew to get an identity when the PS and N64 were in full force.
