This is due to safety, so when they close, they don't spend extra time behind the store locking the door in the dark where they may be ambushed.

The same thing should be installed outside the glass doors of these stores getting robbed. The thieves can kick the steel shutters all day long with no escape so they will be trapped until the police get there.
