Lol so many people want this to be a full movie, and then complain when movies who have a good plot run way too long. How exactly could this be turned into a full movie? Literally everything is here, and that's why it's already beyond perfect.
I get what you are saying BUT, in this short everything was perfect, I think what people want is a movie that is 90-120 minutes long that is perfect.Imagine if instead of this being a 9 minute short, someone made a 90 minute movie that was this perfect. The Movie "The Sixth Sense" was a great film and had a perfect twist ending, now that is a movie that could have been done as a short and it would have been great, BUT since it was done as a feature film, we got a fantastic full length feature film that blew people away, because we see this "The Doll Maker" as a short (and its perfect) doesn't mean that had the film only existed as a 90-120 minute feature film doesn't mean it could also be perfect.I loved this and agree with you that, its perfect, BUT that doesn't mean that had the makers of this short had the money to have made a feature length film they couldn't have fleshed it out in such a way to have also made it perfect.Of course we have all seen films that sucked as a feature film, but had they done it as a short it could have been amazing.I hope that they don't try and turn this into a feature length film, but like you I think it is perfect as is, but I can understand those who wold have loved to see it as a full length film.
@@tbirum It's more so I'm wondering what would make it longer, do we have to see the kid die, do we need to see every day were the wife played with the doll before the whammy ending, or (in my opinion worse), do we learn the story of the doll maker?
Well I understand what you are saying, but let me once again refer you to the movie "The Sith Sense" (obviously I loved this movie) We see the character of Cole, and we see the character of Malcolm, now since the story is about a kid who see's dead people, and it turns out that the twist is "Malcolm" was dead the whole time but didn't know it did we really need to see the part where Malcolm and Cole go to that little girls wake, where we end up seeing that it was the mother who poisoned her little girl? or how it was that Malcolm died? or the fact that Cole's teacher used to be called "Stuttering Stanley"? When a movie is expertly written and acted, and cast, it just draws the viewer into the lives of the characters and the emotions the characters feel are also, to an extent felt by the viewer, because the viewer has been going through the journey right along with the character."The Doll Maker" in my opinion, was PERFECT, it told a story in less then 9 minutes and the twist really came out of nowhere and I loved it, BUT (again in the right hands) this is something that could be turned into a 90-100 minute movie (not now because everyone would know the twist) but had this been a full length film instead of a short to begin with I think it could have been the next "The Sith Sense" caliber movie. not sure if you have seen this but if you haven't I would love to hear what you think of it, the film is less then 7 minutes (if you do not count credits) and I think it is equally Brilliant. Psychological horror over jumpscares every single day. Jumpscares are a cheap easy way out to get the viewer to be afraid. Not impressive at all. This is the good type of writing that really makes horror. It's not about the quick spooks, it's about terrifying the viewer so much to the point that they're genuinely affected and afraid. This was incredible.
It's both the plot and the jumpscares that scare me to death. But mostly the plot. If it's only the jumpscares I would just be frightened at first then nothing.
I think he chose to believe this illusion again, he couldn't bare the pain of losing both his son and his wife and he had no one to turn to, noone and nothing he cared about or, subconsciously, nobody to care for him. He chose to give up the rest of his life and be happy in a madeup world where she was still alright rather than to face the cold, hard reality. It's kinda like when I have a minor breakdown and choose mit to take my medicine, the voices and images and all of that stuff can be disturbing and troubling, but when I find myself in some sort of imagination scenario everything is just so clear and even though most times I don't really understand it afterwards, it all makes perfect sense to me at that moment. And that is just so much easier than living in reality.

Being a mother of 6 and losing one.....this is truly a parent's nightmare, even without the paranormal aspect of it. Losing a loved one, most especially a child is a horrible traumatic nightmare as is and the fact that no one and I mean no one can really know for sure how they'll handle such a tragic loss. The disparity and desperate attempt of a grieving parent to have a loved one back was well interpreted in this video.

@林幹傑 actually I went to a acting school and they made us train with dolls (creepy af) and we also acted in really heavy clothing so we could get used to uncomfortable situations.
I love the acting and the details. Like all the dirty dishes made me confused, but the plot twist immediately explained that detail. The wife would have kept the kitchen clean for her son at least, while living out her fantasy, but the husband expects his wife to do the cleaning, which she can't do as a doll, but in his delusion he blames it on her delusion...
He should put his doll-wife in a McDonald's uniform. Then that would explain any buildup of take out boxes. He wouldn't even have to interrupt his groove; just call McUber eats once the hour ends. 🤹
Great job kind of a new spin on "Pet Sematary". Love that it's more of a psychological horror than a more predictable "doll starts murdering everyone". This is something that could easily be expanded into a 90 minute feature film without feeling like it's wasting time, but works great as a short as well.
The process of writing a full feature has been going on since 2018. Matias Caruso, the brilliant screenwriter, is working on it. That's all I know. I think it would make a great feature with the right author and director.
I'm comming to realize after rewatching this that thats the point. Cause in my opinion thats an oddly specific to just throw out as something you won't remember.
It looks more like a psychological thriller than a horror film..The ending was quite unexpected.. because the guy looked very strong and rational but in the end he was also trying to comfort himself by creating a creepy doll which resembles his wife.. It's quite impressive how the film ended..When it started though I thought the doll was a ghost ha ha ha..and this is why I like it even more because as I said the ending was quite unexpected..It started as a horror film but ended like a psychological thriller..
It’s crazy because right before he went outside with her they were at dinner time and he talked about how it was a lie that he “would be strong and protect him”. Kinda foreshadowing
@@defsoulluv idk i just feel that being alone is more scarier than being in crowd. well as long as i have people talking or singing near me is fine for me i guess.
I love this. The reborn doll trend has led to multiple tales of women treating the doll like it's the actual child instead of moving on and accepting that the kid is gone. I love the idea of making a sequel where a child is alive, but the parents can't handle that their child isn't a naive baby anymore. They cling to the doll for so long that they don't notice their real child growing up, moving away, and forming a life without them. By the time they realize that the doll isn't real, they're old, their true child is past middle age, and they die with only the doll to comfort them.
Finally, a doll story where the doll doesnt just kill everyone

tit serise Coraline has a less darker storyline, less saddening. No one in the real world had to die. This one is much sadder

Same. It's a line that implies several things, like the people who got their dolls probably died not caring for themselves, instead the doll.
What I mean by that is, they sacrifice their lives for the doll's.
@@burningfish156 or they stop caring for themselves entirely and die

Being a mother of 6 and losing one.....this is truly a parent's nightmare, even without the paranormal aspect of it. Losing a loved one, most especially a child is a horrible traumatic nightmare as is and the fact that no one and I mean no one can really know for sure how they'll handle such a tragic loss. The disparity and desperate attempt of a grieving parent to have a loved one back was well interpreted in this video.

Might be this good because they didnt have to stretch the story for length. This was perfect as it was.
Tommy Northwood It was perfect but I think what he means is seeing a twist like that in the cinema would be really cool
Wow i didn't notice that before
Ya

He should put his doll-wife in a McDonald's uniform. Then that would explain any buildup of take out boxes. He wouldn't even have to interrupt his groove; just call McUber eats once the hour ends. 🤹
Thanks for this!
This is so sad, she just wanted to have her son back, but nothing would work without a big price
Just like so many other things; they come with a big price :c
Except that wasn't her son, it's a doll.
*"Nobody ever asked for their money back."*
That's coz they're so hooked on your product, they forgot about hiring you
I'm comming to realize after rewatching this that thats the point. Cause in my opinion thats an oddly specific to just throw out as something you won't remember.
Or died in the process
