One of the rare times the entire theater sat thru all the credits at the end cos we all loved the song Burning Bridges....and they played it loud for us too.😊
Honest to god, Every time I hear this song or see the ending orstart I start balling my eyes out. Such an amazing film and in my opinion a cinematic master piece, There isn't a week that goes by when I don't watch this film. I never cry at anything, this just makes me so emotional and understand more about life.
I feel much the same way. I remember when my mother took my older brother and me to go see KH at the base theater on Fort Belvoir. I was 9 or 10 years old at the time. I came from a pretty strict military family (dad was a career naval aviator who had fought in WWII and Korea, but who had retired by the time the movie came out). I remember my mother's mouth hanging open in shock over Oddball's antics specifically and the whole of the movie's plot in general: the good guys going rouge and looking out for themselves for a change. Suffice to say, Mom did NOT like the movie. My brother and I, on the other hand, thought it was a hoot.

RIP Oddball, sadly not many of this incredible cast left now. It’s such a beautiful end in that they literally head off into the sunset. You do wonder what they would have done next, obviously they’d have needed to fence the gold into hard cash and split it. Considering that they’d have been facing numerous charges for desertion and other breaches of discipline they couldn’t have gone back, so maybe they each found a French girl and lived quietly for years, or maybe they’d caused so much confusion they were written off as MIA and they managed to quietly get back home.

Sadly, as of April 2020, out of 25 credited actors in this movie (counting only the ones with their pictures in this credits), only six are still alive, Dick Balduzzi being the last to die on January 27, 2020: Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, Gavin McLeod, Stuart Margolin, Tom Troupe and Gene Collins. Only two people who I don't know if they are still alive or not since there is no information online, are Fred Pearlman and Michael Clark. This was Pearlman's only known movie role and no other info about him is available, while Clark's last known role was in 1998, so he is possibly dead by now.
