    From a USC fan who attended the game
    Penn State is a FIRST-CLASS program. I've never encountered anyone from your university, but after this game I have nothing but respect for your fans, coaches and players. When your players knelt for Adoree' I was overcome with emotion. You have all represented your university extremely well and from all true Trojan fans we wish you the best in the future.

      Couldn't agree more, Ryan. I was watching it on TV but felt the same way. It must have been _incredible_ to see it live. Penn St. came to play... and did they ever! Just an amazing and entertaining game from start to finish. One team had to lose but, as far as I was concerned, there were nothing but winners on that field last night.

      ryan fowler I'm a Penn State fan but I have to give USC credit for the way they kept coming back. I really thought we were going to win, which makes the loss so hard to take. The only losers were the people who didn't watch the game.

    I've been watching that Sam Darnold throw to Burnett tie the game up over and over again. I just can't believe that throw. It was absolutely beautiful everything about it was perfect. You are down 7 at basically a home game with less than a minute and a half to go. The previous 2 plays were incompletions and risky throws and then you throw and absolute dot on the money to a receiver in between 3 defenders?? That is an UNREAL Quarterback. I absolutely can't wait to see what he does next season.

    Saw Sam Darnold in Aug 2015 practice. Asked someone standing next to me, "Who should be the SC QB?" They thought I was kidding. "Cody Kessler, of course." I had a different opinion. Kessler wouldn't lose the game for you, but he wouldn't win in either. I thought the SC QB should be Darnold. In High School when asked, "What is your best attribute as quarterback?" He answered, "I can make something out of nothing." Did he show that in the Rose Bowl?

    • @dontizzle805
      @dontizzle805 7 лет назад +2

      Glenn Williams Sam Darnold threw for over 3000 yards and 31 touchdowns as a freshman. Farve most yards in a year was 2600 and 16 touchdowns at Southern Mississippi. Not saying hes will be better in the pros but Sam is putting up better numbers than Farve did in college. You realize Farve was a second round pick outta college. I agree we shouldnt disrespect farve after 1 season just shows how good darnold was

    • @stretch141000
      @stretch141000 7 лет назад

      tim w Did you watch the video? Colin said that you cannot be humiliated and make the playoffs. If Penn State beat Pitt, even with the humiliating loss to Michigan they would have gotten in. It's an example that if a team gets humiliated by 39 points, if that's their only loss and they win their conference, they can still get in. Not sure why you are so mad.

  • @lurchlogan

    Late in the 4th qtr.Penn State QB.Trace Mcsorley threw a pass that was nearly picked off by USC DB. Leon Mcquay III.
    The very next play, Mcsorley threw the same exact pass to the same receiver & basically gave Mcquay a second chance at picking it off(which he did). As a die hard SC fan, I absolutely loved it. But as a CFB fan, I was like "What are you Doing" ??
    I still cannot believe he threw that pass again after what happened the first time. Aside from that, much respect to The Nittany Lions for an All Time Rose Bowl Classic!!! ✌ FightOn ✌ #⚘🏟🏈🏆💍

    USC started off giving up 52 points and ended giving up 49...The Defense wasn't championship quality. The offense though is probably the best in the game now with Darnold. If they played Alabama now they might win but we'll have to wait till next season to find out

    • @patrickmattes4935

    • @ThePulse10
      @ThePulse10 7 лет назад

      Agreed!!! USC is the best team in College Football right now. The 52-6 loss to Alabama is not what hurt USC. It was the 31-27 loss to Utah (Sam Darnold's 1st start) which hurt them the most giving them their 3rd loss of the season.

    • @julianburrell5058
      @julianburrell5058 7 лет назад

      In my opinion, All USC's surge did was prove Alabama beat a better team than people thought. Maybe if they scored 1 touchdown I'd be inclined to think they could beat Alabama. It's not Darnold's fault his team couldn't stop the run or the deep throw.

    • @julianburrell5058
      @julianburrell5058 7 лет назад

      SDLions he did during garbage time, but that's not what I meant. I meant people saying Darnold playing would've completely changed the outcome of that game and I just don't agree with that.

    • @julianburrell5058
      @julianburrell5058 7 лет назад

      SDLions I don't think that's a good enough excuse. I mean he coached them through the PAC-12 championship and a bowl game last year. Plenty of time to get familiar with what his team does well.

    Wonderful commentary! Insightful, passionate, brilliant! USC and PSU in the Rose Bowl, the comeback kids. I happen to be a lifelong Trojan fan, but, wow, they met their match in PSU. The commentary about Sam Darnold was A) Revealing (some stuff I did not know), and B) Corroboration of my feelings about Darnold's abilities. As good as USC is, PSU is a worthy opponent. They play this game 100 times, and USC wins 51 times. But never mind my opinionating: Colin, you have done a wonderful job with this. Yes, let's celebrate college football greatness! It's funny that when the Big12 has high scoring games everyone yawns "lol no defense", but when any other conference(s) does it 'heaven has blessed us with greatness'.

    Colin says "you can't have a terrible loss." I agree, I just wish this was the case in 2008 when SC had probably the best defense EVER, and a 6 point loss in September at Oregon State cost them the whole season. They would have blown anyone out in the National Championship that year.

    I'm a USC fan but I sincerely doubt they would have fared better against Alabama if they started Darnold over Browne. That team was out of whack for the first four weeks.

    No team that ever lost a game by more than 13 points has ever won a national championship? Wrong. 1982 Penn State lost to Alabama 42-21 yet still won the national championship that year.

    USC is going to win a lot of games with Darnold running the offense but I'm not 100% convinced they'll be in the playoff next season, but they should at least challenge for the Pac-12 crown and another Rose Bowl. Honestly, they're still missing the trench guys (O-line & D-line) to compete with someone like Ohio State or Bama...plus they're also weak at linebacker. Their defense (or lack thereof) is going to hurt them.

    How even a Texas fan could think that the worst officiated game in history (USC-Texas) was "great" is beyond me. As a Seahawk fan, I didn't like it at all when the Seahwaks "beat" the Packers in a game once only because of a bad call from the officials.

    So they let in an Ohio State team that gets humiliated. Would have been far better to take USC or Penn State than a team that clearly didn't deserve to be in it.

    • @unicornhearts

      Both USC and Penn St. had multiple losses. You can't have multiple losses and be in the playoffs over teams with one loss or zero.

  • @entertained...

    the problem with CFB is still preseason rankings, which is based on a lot of bias and speculation. rankings are supposed to indicate how well a team is currently playing, not how they played last season or how they should play in the next few weeks. rankings should come out after all conference championship games have ended. of course, the ncaa, tv networks, etc. need to hype up games every week, especially week 1; everyone's gotta line their pockets....

    1981 Oklahoma vs USC was pretty good. #1 vs #2 at the Coliseum. We couldn't stop that dam wishbone of theirs. But the Marcus Allen Trojans won with a last 6 second touchdown. Amazing game.

    I agree. Alabama offense is suspect but their defense is incredible. They rush only four and they get sacks by numbers. I'm an SC fan but if they played Alabama it would be a close game but I still give the edge to Alabama. But, who knows with Darnold at QB you might see a different result. We will never know.

    4:58 - you say that there's never been a National Champion who has lost by more than 13 points. It just happened in 2014, the very first year of the playoff. Ohio State lost, at home, to by 14 points to 6-6 Virginia Tech.
