Thank you for the demo! I purchased the same monitor + height adjustable add-on from Apple the other day. Now I have to wait 8 weeks for it to arrive. :)
I was absolutely thrilled that Apple release this as I'd found that LG I purchased to replace my 8-year-old Thunderbolt displays just wasn't providing the same experience. Mine came last week and I have zero regrets. Beautiful piece of hardware that fits my needs.

Watching this as I’ve just sorted mine which I’ve planned to do for the last year since I bought my Mac studio and came away from iMacs. Great review and unboxing and I’m super excited to get mine.

With the height adjustable stand can you stop the height adjustment anywhere between 18.8” and 23” or is it just either up or down?
No HDR. How does it affect the quality of the images?
Will the height adjustable stand let you do portrait mode?
But how much extra is it to raise and lower it?
Is this a design failure? The unplugable cable position doesn't let the Monitor get higher?

Chunky bezels are a turnoff for me, but overall it’s true the display is in a class of its own in terms of resolution/pixel density and industrial design, is it worth the price? Not for me.
Does the height adjustment make the monitor wobble any can’t find one in person to check out thanks

120 Hz and 1000 nits would have been a solid display. Feel like they skimped a little when they didn’t need to.
That would've increased manufacturing costs quite a bit, increasing the sticker price as well.
1,000 nits sustained would need to be actively cooled or have the same design as the XDR.
At least larger than the 27-inch Studio Display might feature the Retina XDR Display as thanks to the upcoming Mini-LED backlit, smaller bezel, display notch to be similar to the 2021 MacBook Pro and variable 120 Hz refresh rate called ProMotion.
yeah good luck finding that in this price range. Also 1000 nits would be blinding. I can't even use the full 600 nits for a long period.

Apple cables in general haven't been known to last very long. So, with that nondetachable cable, If your power cable gets messed up, replace the whole monitor. Also, people live with pets, vacuums, kids..what can go wrong with the cable right?

Its a fact that its possible to unplug the power cable from the Monitor! :D
It's designed not to be so the warranty may be voided if one does so. Also the amount of force needed to unplug it can damage the display as per Linus Tech.

That's just a pretty looking monitor with the specs of an any common LCD monitor, hasnoting special, and there is better ones out there

Lotsa marketing hoopla for nutin'. It's a pass for me. Picked up a larger Dell UltraSharp instead for literally less than half the price. Anyway, thanks for the review. It makes me happier with my decision.
I just receive my Apple Studio Display, plug it to my MBP M1. The image quality is super good, but the webcam is a joke ! My 20$ webcam bought 5 years ago on Alibaba is better ! The center stage does not work on Google Meet. Don't buy it I'd you expect a decent webcam.

very expensive
There are no monitors that compete with this. People are smoking crack when they say otherwise. Even the LG 5K monitors are going for over retail right now. You can't compare this to a 4K screen.
The extra piece looks really bulky

Having a 27 inch cost 1600 that doesn't have hdr and backlit is anything but flawless.

@@codygaul3341 indeed just the perfectly manufactured joins are worthy, check out those beautiful Huawei devices, but look no closer cause you'll see the imperfections and prove they don't care about quality, just pretending to be a great deal. You forgot also that includes a grat array of speakers, camera an mics integrated.
Nice little screen, costing 4X it's worth.
@Goat LG monitors are made of cheap plastic. Then the price can also come down a lot. The housing of the Studio Display is made of aluminum and the design is also fantastically beautiful and minimalist in my opinion. The Studio Display also has a power cable without a power brick in between. I think that's nicer and better too.
For a monitor of that price. They could have atleast had a 120hz display panel.
Thunderbolt can only do 4k 120hz
Nobody makes a 5K 120Hz panel that I am aware of.
Only Apple sells a $1,600 display and an additional $400 for adjusting the height. Jeez.
They also sell a display without a stand that costs $999 extra lol.

27 inch is way too small in 2022 standard
5K, mediocre webcam, and good speakers (still far from dedicated speakers) would cost $1600 that would be crazy if it was another brand. 2022 display with no HDR support, no mini-led/OLED, 27 inch, 60Hz it is unbelievable. 4K has been here for awhile soon 5k or more will come and this monitor will be nothing but a waste of money.
Actually the webcam is superb. It’s the same from the iPads so after a software update it should be fine.
Apple has had 5k monitors since 2014. If another vendor was going to step up it would have happened already.
Not only does the monitor have microphones and center stage it’s much brighter than OLED which is typically 250 to 400nits. While the studio display is 600.
That’s not even getting into the much better build quality 😂

This apple monitor pales in comparison to others for similar price. Hell the new Alienware ultrawide gets brighter, looks better and is cheaper. The price for this apple monitor would be more reasonable around 700. Maybe 1k. 1600 is just idiotic.
Also let's be real here, 5k at 27 inches doesn't mean much of anything. That's why a lot of manufactures don't bother. They'd rather make ultrawides or superior 4k monitors that have hdr and backlit.
@@codygaul3341 Peak brightness for HDR content yes. Not sustained brightness for SDR which is what most UI are. Unless you are just watching HDR content all day. Most productivity tasks and content creation tasks don’t benefit from HDR especially at the cost of brightness.
You just pulled the price out of no where. There’s no 5K monitor that is 1k let alone 700. That’s not even mentioning the other benefits of the monitor like a webcam, build quality, design etc
4k isn’t enough past 22-24in so I wouldn’t call them superior. Other manufacturers don’t bother because they are aiming for a different market.
The Alienware design is trash and is an ultrawide which are trash. Plus it has stupid chin lol.
@@chidorirasenganz Have you seen the new Alienware ultrawide? Lmao the apple one doesn't come close to it's features and picture quality. It's also got great build quality andddd the power cable comes out. Also currently the webcam you mentioned is subpar ATM.
I pulled the 1k because that's what the apple display should cost. 1600 is unreasonable when you have better displays for less. You have fun with ur 60hz and buggy webcam though lol. I'd rather take the bigger better screen quality for less. I'm surprised they didn't add a notch honestly lol.
Front Display cover quality would make me feel of a already used product.
