An astounding and unique jewel of very rare orange garnet var. grossular with green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. It is a small thumbnail but the quality is unbelievable. The grossular crystals to 5mm are super gem and water clear with marvelous green cores, which are result of chromium, and surrounded by transparent orange areas. Normally these are colorless and the orange phantom garnets are even rarer. The crystals have a sharp crystallization, strong glassy luster and irresistible contrast. It displays beautifully from many sides. This green cored garnet is in a class of its own among the Jeffrey mine garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In superb condition. On acrylic base.
A dream phantom garnet specimen - a one-time chance to obtain such an enrichment for any top collection!
