This is the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen.
A mini masterclass from Barney Kessel…the look of sheer joy on the little boy’s face too!
And yes the 2nd part was…unusual…but Barney took it in good humor
When I was a teenager, many moons ago, I played in a local rock band. Then I heard Julie London singing "Cry Me A River" with Barney Kessel accompaniment and it turned my life around
if not the same day ( long time ago ) ....the same thing for me when I discovered and listened ( none stop ) among my mother's
33T this treasure called " JULIE IS HER NAME " figuring Julie LONDON ...Barney KESSEL ....Ray LEATHERWOOD . Since I have
transcriptions of all guitar parts played by BARNEY on each song and it's demonstrates the monster arranger he was .
What is priceless here is the young boy’s reaction kessel’s playing - worth a thousand words.....
Was just gonna say the same thing. That young boy was thrilled by that playing. imagine that !
I've been is Sweden, and there is many good guitar players. I'm sure that boy is one of them. According to that year, I guess that boy is around my age now.
I was very lucky enough to have met Barney Kessel in Southport, NW England, UK a couple of times when I was a teenager, he was very warm, humorous & charming, exchanging cheeky jokes. His music & personality matched - authentic. He's left good ripples.
One of the most astonishing things about this video is the high-quality it is ( being from 1974!!) .... The European sure had it over America during the 60s and 70s with their television recording equipment
I always loved his music. Nice to experience his humble character. Thanks.
Great segment, the 'kids" are having so much fun and Barney knows the true meaning of music is not just in the skill level but the learning, spirit and working together.
Had to show my 12yo daughter the smile from that young boy. So genuine. He must have been mesmerized as we all have.
What a delight to see Barney's face light up!
o my god, i just found this, most beatifull in that videos is the kid smile looking to mr kessel.
Fantastic and funny to see Barney KESSEL into great deal with this band of VICKINGS stronger than nature !
A true master - Barney was the man
Barney demonstrates perfectly what is at the bottom of this music. Thank you Barney
Yes exactly!
' "FATHER" may I go on dancing?' 'Yes, my darling daughter.'🙂
I rarely comment videos but thank you so much for posting a video with Barney kessel that I’ve never seen before! Was a total delight!
Thank you for your wonderful note, Dave...
Bjorn is rockin those bangs!
Saw Barney quite a few times...always one of my faves! Great footage Jan!
One of my old heroes but I never saw him live... Where did you see him, Mr Bub?
Saw him a couple times when I was a teenager with The Great Guitars at our local PAC in Scottsdale, Arizona. He would also do week long stints at the downtown Phoenix Hilton Hotel. He always used local players like Brian Bromberg on bass and Lewis Nash on drums. Never did get to meet him. I love his playing and that guitar...
Thanks Jan. What an unexpected treat
Great to see Ulf Goran again - and Barney of course and in HD! His playing is of the most refined jazz style imaginable; thank goodness he wasn't above playing with amateurs and kids etc.
There is a plaintive simplicity about this clip that is entirely lacking in modern television IMO, in the UK anyway.
We have tried too hard to be worldly wise...
100TH ANNIVERSARY Oct 17 th 23. Ol generals D O die - guitarists ...nevuhhhhh
king of chords
SUGGEST go to channel called Mark's Music Collection. Read my longer B.K. comm there, put igår. Saw him @ Den Haag, 87. As I did EARL COLEMAN, 6 lps in 35 yrs only. Very underrated super talent.
Glada påsk från den andea sidan av ... !
❤❤❤👍
最高。
Jens is the man!
I wonder how barney was able to keep his 60 cycle hum so low with that pickup?
It seems the host didn’t know Barney Kessel’s name and the lad had to tell him.😉
I own a copy of barneys book
I have this book since the seventies . I don't think it is useful as the content is very small .....and superficial .
@@jean-lucbersou758 nonetheless a cool collectors piece to own
@@EliZevin I come back on BK's book " THE GUITAR " ....I have not opened to much and it was long time ago .
Finally with the passing of time I can understand and appreciate better BK's purpose as you suggest beyond
a collector piece . GUITAR is such a wide topic , impossible to detailed unless hundred books so B.K.
resume and give the head chapters as a guide listing the main aspects to work on .....It's some invitation
to travel a long way with the most accurate , effective and granted tickets . Thanks to you ELI .
@@jean-lucbersou758 glad I could spark you to check it out again
OMG... Crazy Swedis 🤣🤣🤣
I agree
Barney Kessel solo is amazing... then they proceed to make him play in the wackest band I've ever seen
Pew die pie?
