How to reset the MAINT REQD light on a Toyota Tacoma. DIY maintenance required light reset

- When you see a yellow light called MAINT REQD in your 2005 -- 2011 Toyota Tacoma, it means it's time for an oil change (given it was reset after the last oil change). Check out this video, and see how you can turn off the MAINT REQD light after maintenance is complete. NOTE: This is not a check engine light. You can keep driving the truck even if the light is on.

How many times have I watched this video? Hint: Its the exact number of times that I have changed my oil! Hahaha Thank you for posting this.
same here. same here...
Hahaha! For sure. Same here.
Same here
Keep forgetting every time!!! Watched this video about 10 times lol
On my 2012 Tacoma i have to set it to Trip A to reset
2024 today , this is the 3rd time Toyota service dept didn't reset my maintenance requirements indicator. Great video
You are the man! Thanks for this. I put in Synthetic oil so I wouldn't have to change the oil so soon... the light came on just a few thousand miles later. The dealer said I could come in for a tire rotation and they would reset the light, or I could do it myself by looking in the owners manual. I looked and of course couldn't find anything. Thanks for this quick and easy tutorial!!!
Finally got the right sequence! The contra code is easier to enter than this. Thanks!
Quick, easy, and to the point! Great job!
Worked perfectly. 2005 Tacoma Prerunner SR5 V6
I literally have referred back to this video 4 different times lol. thanks
Thank you! I was missing the last step (turning the key to the 'OFF' position). You rock!
My Tacoma is a 2011. The above procedure only works if the ODO is displaying Trip A reset to 0.0. Hope this helps.
BurtonRider153 It worked right away on my 2014 TRD Sport...Thanks
Thank you! Came on after I changed the oil & filter
Thank you so much........so much easier then looking in the manuel
2011 Tacoma also has to be on TRIP A instead of ODO to work. Otherwise works just as described.
Even though the Owners Manual says "Odometer".
Same problem with my 2014 tacoma. Trip A not ODO.
Thanks for the video, worked perfect and i didnt have to sit through an 8 minute video
Thank you! Clear, concise, and to the point!
Valuable video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks bro. Worked like a charm!
Just an FYI. For 2014 toyota tacoma you have to make sure the dial is on trip a. But the rest of the sequence is the same.
Thanks, this method worked for a 2010
2005 highlander works. thank you man.
Nice job. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you that was very useful.
Gracias amigo eres el mejor
thanks for posting!
if you change your oil early, can you reset it the same way?
great video, thanks
Thanks my Amigo
👍
Oh my god! Thank u for this!!!
Alternately you can also unhook the negative terminal, wait 10 seconds and put it back on. It worked for me on my 07 Taco, while this tip of the holding the odo., trip a, b etc. did not work at all. Just a suggestion.
It worked! Thanks
Thanks for tha information.
yay thank you
Much appreciated!!
awsome thanks for the help!!!
Thank you!!!
Thank you very much
Thank you!
Awesome. Thanks
Thanks you ever so much
excellent tried everything
Thanks Bro!
thanks bro!
It worked for me on a/trip ??? thanks
Thank you
Thank You
Obrigado. Funciona na toyota Hilux D4-D....
If you have a 2012 you have to go to Trip A for this method to work.
thanks, that allways hapens to mine, even after i take it to the toyota dealer for oil changes.
Great, Especially for High Mileage Synthetic Oil that you don't have to change every 3k miles like dino oil
thanks
thanks bru
I have a 2011 tacoma reg cab 2wd. My manual says to do it the way this video says to, but it wont work.
The only way I can reset mine is to reset trip a to 0 miles and hold down the button while trip a is up(not the car mileage).
thanks, only your way worked
Some only work when on trip-A, others trip-B, others (like my 2011) when on the main odometer. Key is to hold it in when turning from off to on position, and hold for at least 5 seconds.
My 2010 does this too. If I had not read this comment I never would have gotten it reset;
Tanks
Aha thanks!
Mine didnt work. My maintenance Reqd light does not turn off. I tried it on ODO and trip A and nothing. Mine is a 2015 Tacoma.
Doesnt work on my 09 SR5. Cant figure out what I'm doing wrong. Set to Trip A, hold down, turn off, turn on, nothing.
Light Up!
Thanks. But it does not work for a 2011 4Runner.
Make sure its on odo
It's not odometer for 2014, it's trip A
Can't get it to work on my 2012?
Has to be on trip A for 2012 year.
+Diesel Tactical thanks for this - worked when I finally set mine to trip A. Appreciate the help
