    Swami Tathagatananda, a monk of the Ramakrishna Order and a disciple of Swami Virajananda, was the Seventh Resident Swami and Minister of the Vedanta Society of New York. He was sent to the Vedanta Society of New York as an Assistant Minister in February 1977 and was made minister/spiritual leader in November 1977. Swami Tathagatananda served as spiritual leader of the Vedanta Society of New York for thirty-nine years until he passed away on June 25, 2016.
