Highlands Hammock - with more rare and endemic species than any other Florida State Park - is a place where wilderness and history are preserved. Visitors can walk the trails where the Florida panther and black bear quietly pass beneath the ancient, towering oaks of a magnificent hydric hammock. Deer, alligators and a variety of birds frequent the park.
With its beautiful old-growth hammock and variety of habitats and wildlife species, this is ...the Real Florida at its best.
At the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, visitors can experience the Great Depression and learn about the lives of the young men who built Florida’s eight CCC parks. The park has a significant number of New Deal era structures and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

We’ll be up in Highland in late March for the 4th time. In your vid where you say look at this Tree you had a Cardinal Chirping loudly 🏁 We saw Bear 🐻 at the entrance of the park when we first stayed at the park in 2021. We have seen wild hogs, Full Grown Red Shoulder Hawks at that Park. We take old 27 up from Miami.
Yes lots of wildlife in this park it is one of our favorite state parks in Florida

Lived in Sebring in the 90s went to the hammock almost every day, never seen a campground or these trails I just drove around a big loop.
I know I smoked a lot back then but not that. 😂😂

Wow love your channel! The opening is so great!! This park is fantastic we love when they have tons of walking and bike riding trails! You guys are great! Those Tacos looked amazing so delicious that was cool they were in the parking lot! You both looked so good for the wedding. Those hang overs can be rough but nice job still getting out! Looks like you have a couple adorable pups as well! Lena that was a nice meal. You guys are wonderful we have subscribed and will be supporting you! Really hope our paths cross on the road one day and we see you Just Ramblin Around!
