I was recommended your site by Shawn Kelly of Corporals Corner. I was not disappointed. Great video with very useful information. Keep up the good work.
I like the sewing tool. My oldest daughter does the sewing I need, but it is a skill I would like to learn. I like the repurpose and reuse idea. It seems like so much is just thrown away this day and age
Thanks so much endurance room i just wanted to let you know you have now got me into bush crafting and survival and i just ordered a plash palatka, thank you so much!!!!
Brown Beaner Right on!!! Glad to hear it. I spent a good bit of time just working on the 5Cs of survival, cutting tool, combustion, cordage, cover, container. Getting skills with those 5 categories will make everything else better. They are the primary tools for survival and are the hardest to replicate in the wild. Enjoy the palatka! ATB Jess
Right on. I like to "upgrade" or create most of my woods gear. Using old surplus pouches and other stuff. I've really enjoyed the videos and information and all the cool overlooked surplus you use.
I love the speedy stitch tool. My friends grandfather gave it to me before he moved into assisted living at 96. He was still out hunting until he was 94. Anyways, I enjoy using it and am grateful for it. Nice pack! I gotta check out more of your videos.
Making your own can be really satisfying. Have you tried finishing off with a surgeon's knot? It gives a good hold and melting the ends of synthetic thread stops any chance of the knot untying. All the best
Nice pack! I've used a similar device (I think it's called the "Sew Awl") to make some sternum straps and waistbelts for older packs. Definitely worth learning to use. My biggest struggle so far is breaking needles, especially when sewing two pieces of leather together. Any tips on techniques to avoid having that happen?
Leen Visser Thank you! Before getting the speedy stitch, I was using a small pair of pliers to drive the needle and then pull it through heavier leather, using either the pliers or a piece of leather. I have broken a couple needles, but it seemed it stopped after making sure I was rotating needle, “drilling” out the leather with the tip. Heavy leather, I use a small drill bit to make holes.
Appreciate. Sorry to bug you, but I can’t remember and I think it was you who gave a link for a hand crank sewing machine. If it was you, would you please repost link or remind me which video it was attached too. I work like dog and just don’t have time to go through all vids man. If not- all good. Thanks
No problem at all. It is called a speedy stitch. Ebay, harbor freight, Michael’s craft stores should all have them. Great little tools. I keep one in my bag with some extra thread, plus a few sewing needles and thread for smaller stuff. Very handy to have in case something breaks or needs repair. Have a good one.
@@EnduranceRoom thanks for reply. I think I have my channels confused. I was referring to a full size sewing machine that’s manual. 🤷♂️😂 It may have been LoneWolf. I can’t keep stuff straight. Thanks and be safe- more importantly, enjoy!
Nice pack MOD you gave it another life. Thanks for the lesson on the Speedy Stitch. TAKE CARE..
Nice work Jess. Speedy Stitch is a great tool. Thanks for sharing your talents with us all.
Kris Hoogstraat thanks Kris! Much appreciated sir
I’m jealous of your access to actual woodlands... my area is fast losing woods due to all the houses being built
I totally understand. We have to travel quite a bit for that very reason.

@@EnduranceRoom you should try making your own plash palatka for people who are on a budget!!
Really good video. Nice tip on the speedy stitch. There aren't a lot or videos on that subject. I appreciate your time.
Thanks
James Six thanks brother
Thanks for the demo, very innovative skill .

ArmedHippy76 Thanks! It really opened up some doors for me in what I was able to make. Welcome to the channel!
Excellent. Glad to see you out . I see you’re combining bush skills with some early season scouting 😁. Be safe and have a good evening
John Burgin yes indeed! Thank you my friend! Have a good one

Man, this is awesome and very inspiring! Thanks for the awesome video!
Eddie Oakes thank you! it definitely makes things interesting making stuff rather than buying it.

gordon murdoch no, I haven’t tried it. thank you. I will check it out!
Great video and pack, you dear and turtle whisperer! :)
thanks brother! cheers
@@EnduranceRoom Cheers mate!
👍🏻👍🏻
Pretty sweet man. I gotta get one of those
Primal Wanderer thanks brother, it definitely helps. I was using needles with a pair of pliers before it to do leather work.
Good
thank you!
nice skills to have, although I do like a good sewing machine too, LOL. Nifty little pack.
Urban Grrl thank you! A machine would definitely speed some things up.
Gotta agree with you that Russian military winter surplus winter gear is for sure proven.... as they know about Cold Weather!
great little tool. I didn't come to buy it yet, because when I see it here where I live it's a bit pricy. 2x or 3x as much as you had to pay I guess.
couchcamper Ah, thats too bad. A basic awl with a handle is worthy substitute. I was using a needle with a pair of pliers before I got the stitcher.
@@EnduranceRoom I settled on just a needle and threat. like in the old times^^
🤜🔥🤛 Hey my Friend 👍

Take a nail to make the holes before you stitch it together.
