    100% agree on your evaluation. I purchased a Bobcat Quick Cat this year. Back issues completely went away. The maneuverability and compactness of the stander over my Scag Tiger Cat is no comparison. Great video 👍🏽

    At work we have X mark 60" commercial mowers and love them. But this season we just got a toro stander 60" and man I love it. Way more efficient and if you need to get off and pick shit up its quick. Better for slopes to because you can put the step up and walk behind it. My opinion. Its nice with the suspension standing plate

  • @ricepadi29

    Nice comparison. Stopping to pick stuff up from a ztr is a pain. We are going to be demoing a stander soon.

    it's interesting some people say the seat gives them back stress. i threw out my back for the first time in my life 2 or 3 winters ago ( and only had a repeat once or twice since, thank God ), and bought an old gravely 60 sit last season for larger properties ( some of them annoyingly bumpy ). it's my most used machine ( besides a 48 walk ), and i haven't noticed any extra stress on my back. ...also the safeties have been bypassed, so all i have to do is put on the brake and flip the paddles, and i'm on and off for trash and object pickup in no time 😅 but obviously that's not a recommended feature for any mower.
    i have noticed the straggler issue, and i either have to cut slower, or double/triple cut ( on smaller properties, no double cutting huge yards ), and _still_ occasionally get popups. maybe i'll change out the g6's for a set of scag hi's and see if they cut any better 🤔🤔
    what's the difference in horsepower between your two mowers?

    • @SouthernStyleLawnCare
      @SouthernStyleLawnCare  6 лет назад +1

      They both have the same Kawasaki FX 691V. Yeah alot of my properties are country and bumpy as hell lol. Def no good on the back.

      I use Exmark Hi Lifts on mine and that does well with various fescue, kbg, and rye grasses. They are worth a try as well.

    For the last 3 or 4 years I have developed moderate and chronic lower back pain. I found out I have an abnormal growth on my lower vertebrae that is causing arthritis. I have been cutting my 5 acre yard that used to be cow pasture weekly with a toro 3000 series 60" with suspension seat. My back would hurt for days afterward. I just traded it in on a gravely pro stance 60. I plan on using that stander for all 5 acres. I hope it's as easy on my back as you describe.

    The sun up to sun down days kill my tail bone. Thinking about installing a lay-z boy recliner on my ztr haha. Would like to try a stander. I just hate the bigger price tags for less mower, makes no sense.

    • @SouthernStyleLawnCare
      @SouthernStyleLawnCare  6 лет назад

      Yeah the 6 to 10 hour"Hours on a mower" a day was taking a toll on my back for sure. Honestly I have found standers to be the same price. Not more. The zero turns actually can be more costly.

    • @mikesoutfishing
      @mikesoutfishing 6 лет назад

      I was just looking at the Bradley 48" stander is only 3800$ Good price for anyone that cant fork out to much, your right. I don't know why I was thinking they was more expensive.

  • @richhalloran
    @richhalloran 5 лет назад +1

    Well you should try a new version of that gravely.
    Looks like a z 52 or 152
    The new 252 has the air ride seat.
    I actually got the 460 gravely and have no back issues. I go a little slower over bumps though.
    I tested the scag v ride 2 for a day and if your going stand on, I'd bet you'd say it's the best cut.

    • @SouthernStyleLawnCare
      @SouthernStyleLawnCare  5 лет назад

      I got rid of my gravely for cut quality reasons. They leave too many stragglers. Tried everything you could and even tried a 260. Same issues. Swapped to ferris z3 and john deere and couldn't be happier. Gravely is tough but cut quality isnt there for me IMO.

    I 've had the same experience since I got a stander. I like to go back and forth from sitting to standing ,that way the body doesn't get to much abuse on one area. I think the stander is way more efficient!

    Ok I'm a solo operator....I want a stander but most of my properties are an acre plus, not to mention I'm on my feet trimming and use the 0 turn to rest my body, 2 years ago I had a heat stroke and passed out and broke my right leg just above the ankle...and I'm 55 years old....your opinion if you think a stander would work for me or stay with the zero turn

    • @SouthernStyleLawnCare

      Wayne's Lawn Care I'm about in the same boat as you. 56 with 5 knees surgeries and three blown acl's. Love to sit but I keep my toro with the sulky going but all day with that whips my butt. Love when the trimming is over so I can sit and mow

    • @ronhart4166
      @ronhart4166 6 лет назад

      There is NO WAY I could use a stand on all day. I am a solo 50yrs old and have 40 properties at full service and at least half are 1 to 1.5 acres. The only sit down time I get is on the mower. I feel the stand on models are for the cookie cutter lawns .4 and lower yards. Or for the young guys who can do it. But really you are talking two totally different machines. I run a gravely 460 60in cut and most of your stand ons in my area are 52in and lower for smaller properties.

    My father still enjoys cutting his yard every week. He is getting up in age and I was thinking about getting him the stander for the ease of getting off and on. Would you recommend this mower for a retired person whose isn't getting any younger? He currently has a traditional sit on mower with steering wheel but has to climb on and off it which make me worry. Would the stander be a option or is it to dangerous in your opinion?

    What’s the horse power on the Deere? Getting one of those very soon. Just demoed the 54 inch 652m. What made you go with the R vs the M?

    • @SouthernStyleLawnCare
      @SouthernStyleLawnCare  6 лет назад

      Scott O 648r has the Kawasaki fx691v. I went with r bc it is stronger built then the m. Different back tire size holds hills better imo. Also fx motor with dual stage air filter. It can take more of a beating than the m. The m is still good tho.

    • @scotto8199
      @scotto8199 6 лет назад

      Why did you go with the 48 over the 52? Scalping?

    • @SouthernStyleLawnCare
      @SouthernStyleLawnCare  6 лет назад

      Scott O fits in a lot more Gates and you only loose 4 inches off the cut. Less than a full pass per lawn. Just made since and very happy I went 48. I love 52 as well but I had about 20 lawns 52 was just a hair to wide and 48 goes in with ease
