- Was anyone been able to confirm in the Battlefield 5 open beta whether bolt-action rifles once upgrade can be fired accurately while moving? You know like the Team Fortress 2 Sniper or Overwatch Widowmaker or snipers with no movement penalty because that is what it seemed like after the bolt-actions were fully upgraded. Didn't mess around with the DMR during the beta because I used it previously at Gamescom but if it has similar upgrades then it would be even more OP.
Thank you for the feedback and responses on the last video it reinforced some concerns I've had and brought up other issues I had not known about.
Since the beginning when they first announced the game and its features I've been worried how regular gameplay will play out. Because of those changes to classes and "class fantasy" along with resupply boxes and animations I still strongly believe it will hurt the game overall. It will especially affect casual or new players that don't have other people/friends to play the game with as this another Battlefield where it's not really enjoyable to play alone ( BF4, BFH, BF1 ). I'm fairly certain forcing classes to have at least one of their class mechanic gadgets equipped no matter what along with taking out frequently performed animations and resupply stations would address a significant amount of issues. What I mean is for example a medic would be forced to carry needle or med/health pack, one always has to be equipped. I'd also remove the small med pack because forcing players to use the big one ( change it to auto heal within proximity ) would bring gameplay more inline with older Frostbite Battlefield games like BC2/BF3 where those packs would be frequently tossed out for everyone to run to and heal or get ammo in the case of the support class. You could also keep the small packs in however I'd change them to be more like BFH's take ammo from a friendly support player.
The major animations like reviving are counter to the gun play system currently used in BFV. Realism and immersion are not legitimate reasons for those kinds of animations. Those animations are counter to the idea of what Battlefield has been in previous titles which is a sandbox arcade shooter and nothing takes you out of immersion faster than a quick time animation that takes control of the character out of the player's hands.
Resupply stations and buddy revives are features that drive players away from playing the support and medic classes, drive players away from "being the support and medic classes". Now you are selecting a class based solely on their primary weapons. At this point they might as change it so you create your own soldier and equip whatever you want from any class because it won't change much in this game.
Please note that other changes that many people have suggested while yes they would improve the game they won't fix the problems that cause casual and experienced players to not find much enjoyment out of the game when playing alone.

Yeah I'm not actually sure if you are supposed to be able to shoot through those.
I have once shot through a sandbag and it did one damage, possibly spawn protection, but even them it's low.

i’m so glad you are recognizing the issues of solo players. not sure how often you actually play solo, but it’s all i do, and this game is so unenjoyable to me. i always get the response “then find friends,” “don’t buy the game.” it’s so anti-conversation and just delegitimizes and minimizes my personal issues with the game. i try to give actual criticisms, then i’m just labeled a hater or don’t know what i’m talking about.

The last time I actively played solo was BC2/BF3. There was always ammo or med boxes across the Battlefield because they were basically forced so teamplay happened whether they wanted to or not and if it was difficult to find you could always switch with a kit on the ground to give ammo/health. Now we can't even do that as it only switches the gun which at this point if that's all you can do why even have the ability to do that? Armor/vehicles and dealing with them was spread across the classes better back in those games as well. Sure BC2 was simple but it made playing in pubs alone quite enjoyable.
Ravic ok good to know that. and yea i agree completely with you. just little things they added in this game that make no sense. i don’t know. i hope things change before launch, but i don’t think things will change that significantly. the core pillars of this game are too far implemented that how it feels now is most likely how it will play at launch. maybe it’ll grow more on me, but it’s not looking good so far.

bf1 wasn't perfect, especially with the at rocket which wouldn't deploy on surfaces say 20% of the time. That said, at least they made it so that when you 'd deploy it, it wouldn't jump all over the place like it does in bfv. not sure why they didn't just bring it over from bf1 to bfv.

@@Droggelbecherbot I always liked the voice acting, especially in this game and in BF1. I do know a bit of German, but not usually enough to understand, that does sound weird, but most people don't notice it, what was that line said for? Capping an objective?
the voice acting is great, it's just the acutal text which sometimes seems pretty out of place. In this case it's simply an expression which has imo no place on a battlefield, you'd expect to hear it in a speech of the propaganda minister maybe. No idea what the line was said for, the defensive kill maybe?

I was watching your bf4 hacking accusation videos and I said "Man I like this guy I wonder when he will upload next" then you uploaded as soon as I said that.
I thought female soldiers wouldn't bug me at all because you don't really notice if a soldier is male or female expect when you look them directly in the face which doesn't happen too often during gameplay. But I must say their callouts take me right out of the immersion.
Then you need to be less of little bitch. I'm not going to say there were tonnes of female soldiers but there were quite a lot of female resistance fighters in Europe. It would be innacurate to totally exclude women in those areas.
Uncle Tom then why not stick to that? I'd even be happy if they gave the female soldiers fighting on the British side in the norway maps a norwegian voice over. That would immediately make it a hundred times more plausible. Take the Russian snipers in BF1 for example. I've got no issues with that. But British or even German women fighting at the front? It's completely ridiculous. In the beginning when everyone was raging about it, I was supportive of the idea of having female soldiers, but now I think it's just poorly implemented.

@@standardworkaround Except even as resistance fighters they were still regulated to support roles first and combat roles as a last resort.

I think the ammo and health boxes which are on every flag will make players to go the objective, after all it is a good thing. I almost play alone, so the Beta was not any exception and I didn’t feel that I am being limited, I just enjoy the Beta playing alone, it was even more fun than previous BFs due to attrition system and of course I destroyed many asses even playing alone, and I am not a pro, just a normal/average player.
This game force you to play in squad but after playing it alone I noticed that I can play it easily without a squad, at the beginning it can give the impression that the solo players will be beaten but it’s not really the case. You need to move a bit different and learn when and how to move on the map (mainly for going to a flag, for capturing, picking ammo and health).

And if I play the objective I am rewarded not that I’m forced to do it.
Some of my favourite and memorable moments in BF games have been when I’ve not necessarily playing the objective.

The V1s/JB-2s seem like they'd get really frustrating to me. I haven't been playing the beta so this is just my impressions from watching gameplay, but players have never been fond of being killed by things like UCAVs, AC130s, Cruise Missiles, Remote Mortars, Bombers and all those "I just blew you up from way over here" indirect fire things in BF games. The V1 just seems like a giant squad UCAV to me and I feel like I'd really grow to hate it.
Sounds like someone a camping recon would say who never helps his team because he sits at the edge of the map the whole game.
So far from what I've experienced it hasn't really felt like that. You can't hear the AC130 until it shoots at you, you can't hear the Cruise Missiles until they are already on top of you and have gone off. These V1s/JB-2s while not really needed or necessary to the game are significantly easier to avoid and have better limits placed on them because you can easily hear them coming and they can't be placed via a top down map so perfect accuracy is difficult or at least requires risking the player getting close and making line of sight on the target.

That bullet penetration made me chuck a little. When I played the beta, I never hit anyone behind walls, sandbags or whatever - even if I directly saw the guys head.

Really like your view on the beta and the gameplay mechanics and such overall. Seems like they tried really hard to appeal to a vocal minority with this game instead of the fuck ton of people that want Battlefield 3 (any others) back. Also, I'm not sure which upgrade tree you went down because when I was playing I went down the left one for the Enfield and didn't notice accuracy while moving at all, most of my shots would miss if I wasn't standing completely still for like a full second, but then again I didn't play the beta too much so I didn't really get to test out other upgrades and such.
Limited ammo and health regeneration is the bane of this game. We already had enough people that did not PTFO. Now we will have more that will just hog the space next to a health of ammo station. Not a fun experience

I wish they should have gone with the aproach of small static ammo boxes littered around the map, inside almost every building and behind every type of cover or wall. Just to not have action around the big obvious and campable crates, but instead have possibilities to get ammo anywhere and allow players to move wherever they want on the map instead b-lining between the crates. Or maybe to encourage players to equip the support/medic class and use the reinforce mechanic, medics could build big medstations and support build ammo crates wherever you can build reinforcements.
Rav's ability to line up headshots is incredible
I hate the fact that you have to go to certain stations to refill your ammo or get health packs, especially since some enemies camp around those stations and just wait for some poor bastard to come by to get health or ammo and just kill him/her. But if keep that in the game they could at least remove the animation of you taking the pack and storing it which leaves you vulnerable for 1-3 seconds, and I know that might not seem like a lot of time, but that is pretty common kill time for a lot of weapons

The resupply was something kinda needed due to the fact people werent playing their respective roles. But now seeing this is like no one wants to play medic or support.

Yeah i had the the Enfield fully upgraded it was just point and click. I suck at sniping in most battlefield games but i went 50 and 7 with this gun upgraded on PC. Also do you hate the train platform as much as I do on Rotterdam?

I don't think it's the developers fault that solo players like me have a harder difficulty having a good time on a consistent basis, and I don't think it has anything to do with the ammo/health crates or the attrition system.
It's the morons who continue to refuse to supply ammo, health, or revives even though Supports now always have an ammo pack equipped, and that Medics always have bandage patches and the magic revive needle... Even though providing ammo and health to teammates is the easiest points you will ever get in a Battlefield game. In BF1, you can easily get top of the leaderboard as a support player who has both the ammo packs and supply crates and spam the hell out of them while maintaining a decent amount of enemy kills and occasionally capping flags.
It's not the game, it's the players.

And only played scout to get the flare gun so those annoying cheeky bastards chilling in dark corners of the point cant hide.
(Flare gun I use moreso during that mid round bullshit where people go for backcapping or the team suddenly loses every point, and I gotta fire up ALL THE FLARES just to help them a lil bit.)

Low ammo isn't about immersion, it's a gameplay mechanic.

Hey Ravic, are you still sticking to bolt actions for BFV? I know you did it in BF1 because you disliked the close quarters shitstorm but what do you think of it in BFV?
If they don't remove or severely nerf that DMR for the Scout/Sniper class then I'll use that until enough people cry to get it nerfed. Right now it existing in the game with the damage model it has makes bolt-action rifles pointless or a novelty.

51 damage isnt even something you can finish off with a pistol shot or even two. Id say the TTK itself is a bit bad too, you have to have inhuman reflexes to react to something like the STG.
Didnt really care for the Assault guns then? I thought the upgraded/scoped Turner SMLE was incredibly fun. DMRs on the assault class is a weird choice though, considering theyre still giving the class weapons like the STG and the actual role of the class is.... assault.

Is the DMR truly overpowered in the wider context of the game though? Feels like the only weapon scout has that is really on par with other classes. Like, if scout had access to Assault's G43 I feel that would also pretty much invalidate the bolt-actions most of the time too.

The description box pretty much sums up the whole situation with bf5 (animations, resupply statiosn and class balance). Or at least its weak points. It should be sent over to whom it may concern.
Also; I do very much agree with Musk that the point display system is utterly garbage. I'd say the whole HUD thing is way too cluttered overall.
