  • This EP is no longer available to buy, so has been sourced from a reasonable record. The master tapes having been lost in a fire!
This EP contains the only known recording of The Shadows playing Guitar Boogie, as they later played only their own interpretation Shadoogie!

This live recording shows how the girls were screaming for the Shadows long before the Beatles. The atmosphere here is Alive !!

Già nel 1961: facevano il tuor mondiale?
Erano veramente famosi , non solo in Patria o in Europa tutto il mondo.
La musica degli anni sessanta , rimane per sempre !

The star of the performance, in my opinion, is the drum, by Tony Meehan I guess.

I agree. And certainly sounds like Tony's style.
Of course Hank's great as always.

      Tony was the drummer.

That was Tony Meehan alright, his drumming was superb especially in Guitar Boogie.

Tony was 18 in 1961! He was also the 19 year old Decca producer who had an unpleasant meeting with Brian Epstein to discuss the infamous new years day 1962, Decca Beatles audition and that bad meeting caused the Decca/Beatles rejection. The rest is history.

Was this the concert where they were provided with Gibson amps (instead of Voxes)? - sounds like it - much brighter - love it! Fantastic performance so early in their career!

Yes - Gibson Amps were used.

@@sirstiffpilchard - brighter than the Vox. I used to have a 1960s Gibson stereo tweed amp - very bright - beautiful amplifier! I have since been using Vox.

The star performer was Hank with great backing from Bruce and the boys. I love Sleepwalk it's always been one of Hanks best accompanid by the band. F.B.I. is another of my favourites. Been a fan since 1958 and still am
