The way he's putting them in the bag makes it look like he's robbing the place.
Like a thief in the night.
Exactly.
the dude walked out with two bags worth, did you see that at the end?
More like a true aficionado delighted to be let loose in there!! Live a little, ffs!
@@johnta17 well done, I say
"Oh, Ingmar Bergman suffering away... myeah, I love that."
Forget the Oscars, THIS is the real jackpot here!
very excellent point, OddOneOut665. Think about it. Respected and great actors, artists and directors regularly on this channel choosing, explaining and picking their best choice for movies they want to see. THIS...is the true oscars. And It makes you and I want to GET THOSE movie videos and see them, doesn't it?
My only complaint is that it wasn't 20 minutes long.
Hell ya
@Mohd Amerul Aidil Wouldn't you?
He is so adorable. And that ending is perfect.
Yeah we know he was in there at least a half an hour.
@Texas Chainsaw Jesus That was an awesome film, among the best of the 80s. Imho.
"...isn't that serendipitous?"
and it just rolls off his tongue.
Lovely.
"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here and we want them now!"
We are not drunks, we are multimillionaires!
We’re going to buy this place, and install a jukebox to liven all you stiffs up a bit!
I loathe those Russian plays. Nothing but women staring out of windows.
I was seeing a girl for a while who I'd worked with at a law firm, who could recite word-for-word the entire script of Withnail & I.
@@phil6025 That sentence should’ve ended with “. . . so I married her”.
The way he says “oh darling, I adore you” fucking killed me. Tears in my eyes
What a character! I could listen to his voice all day!
He's me if I could go to this closet. He just goes on picking film after film 😂
I cannot express how much I love this man. Such a delight.

La Strada’s English title is La Strada lol
@@tommylarrys Corrected. Thanks for noticing!
"isn't that serendipitous!"
It wasn't even serindipitous.
I realise this was over 5 years ago now but isn't the definition of serendipitous to discover something in a coincidental / fortuitous way? I was sure it was, and Googles reassurance led me to writing this comment to defend Withnail
“No Streisand films. My obsession”. Greatest thing I’ve ever heard!!!
Richard E. Grant is such a sweetheart. I hope Criterion re-releases Withnail & I on Blu-ray!
영민이 arrow video released it a couple of years ago with a new scan of the negative but to me some of the scenes have way too much grain.
@@thebossman80s Which is why it's up to Criterion to make a better rendition with more bonuses! It'd be cool to bring back members (McGann + Grant) for interviews
영민이 that’s what I was hoping for, maybe criterion can make a better restoration with a book of photographs from the making of the film
He was probably at the Criterion offices to record interviews for a release of something. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Withnail & I.
Jack LeClair it's what the film deserves! Hope Paul McGann was brought in too
Grant has impeccable taste! I dig that he seeks out Robert Altman, fretting about not finding him, until he finds and snatches up the masterpiece, Nashville. And I agree with all of his picks. Plus, he met Jeanne Moreau!! Wow.
I love his love for Altman still lives and his roles in Altman films.
"GLORIOUS PURPOSE!"
Introducing the most likable guy in the world who plays all the most detestable villains.
I've just watched several of these, and I noticed every other one picked La Strada, and I can't recommend that movie enough. I'm glad to see it getting so much credit.
I feel out of breath after that, like a violent sprint. Bravo 👏
"Have you got any Altman films?" A man after my own heart. 👌😊
He appeared in two of them: The Player and Pret-a-Porter.
@@williamshaw9047 Three. Gosford Park as well.
I forgot; he was also in Gosford Park.
@@williamshaw9047 Robert Altman was generous to actors, often bringing them back. It paid off, as only Woody Allen as well can get that insane amount of names in one film.
A brilliant actor and an absolute gem of a human being. Such wonderful, genuine passion for life and art, while also entertaining a healthy sense of the absurdity of it all. Enjoy your loot Sir. Thanks for all the laughter and the tears.
Love Richard Grant, fantastic actor and we need to see more movies with him in them! ♥️🎬
Glorious purpose!
Love this man. Glad the world is finally catching up with what most of us lot knew!
This dude is grabbing them like he actually IS a thief in the night! I love this guy
"Some Like it Hot" is true perfection for comedy lovers. I've seen nothing better.
Same here. First saw it in 4k last week
cut to: Grant running wildly across a deserted car park toward a bicycle.
I love how excited he is lol he's like a child in a toy store.
He is such a sweetheart
He was amazing in Can You Ever Forgive Me
Absolutely loved his performance in 'How to Get Ahead in Advertising." So hilarious. Criterion, PLEASE release that on blu ray!
Warlock is one of my faves....made good by Grant's performance
Withnail! The patron saint of the starving actor.
Love the genuine glee he exudes.
He was my pick for the best supporting actor Oscar.
Just the shot of Richard E. Grant knocking down Waldorf with his bum while browsing Criterion movies alone makes this worthy of a place in the collection.
Omg, I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out. It’s little things like that that make my day.
Love this man unconditionally
I swear if this was me I'd just tip all the shelves into a huge duffel bag.
Same
“Bang. City Lights. Chaplin”
Love his choices. Day for Night, La Strada, and a Jean Moreau fan. Forgot to get Funny Girl Mr. Grant!👍
I was really hoping the final few seconds of this would see Richard pull out his last DVD choice with much anticipation, then exhale dramatically on spying its cover. A final grave look to camera before announcing with much gravitas and awe:
"Finally, ladies and gentlemen, what can one say that hasn't already been said, of the sublime..... the classic..... the unparalleled......the totally undisputed masterpiece that is......
... 'Holiday On The Buses'..."
I love a good heist. ;-)
Nothing prepares you for this....
This was the best video yet.
1:38 I have that exact Zatoichi box set. Love it! Zatoichi is one of my most favourite characters ever.
I have that box set also! I love the artwork on the cover. Zatoichi meets Yojimbo is my all time favorite.
The Tin Drum, The Graduate Jules et Jim - all in my top 21. I'd add Pixote, Kes, La Città del Donna, Tokyo Story . . .[Breaking Away is somewhat memorable as a whimsical, easygoing movie]
I love this guy.
How To Get Ahead In Advertising re-issue?
It’s got to be rise of skywalker, first time I saw that movie I cried I cheered, I fist bumped the air.
What a legend! Thanks for sharing this!
The happiness is thick in the air haha
I'd be the same
Please please please, can I come over to your place Richard and watch those movies together on your couch? I’ll bring the popcorn 🍿🥰
This should be a feature.
"Free to those who can afford it, very expensive to those who can't.
"
Still pissed that he didn't stumble across WITHNAIL and then shoot the camera a look when he found it.
But the rest is okay.
Should have grabbed Withnail and I. Great film and there are great actors in it.
Dude is so enthusiastic, it's infectious!
Where is the Criterion Closest and how does one get in?
could watch him all day
Two of my favorite Criterion releases were his films, How To Get Ahead In Advertising and Withnail & I.
City Lights, Some like it hot, damn those are some fantastic picks!
By the way if Richard E. Grant knocked on my door asking to rummage through my DVD’s, it’s the law, I have no choice
My word!
He knows everything and doesn't waste time. His or anyone else's.
"Free to those that can afford it. Very expensive to those that can't"
Fingers crossed that some day I get an opportunity to kneel in front of Richard E Grant & say "Richard E Grant I'm a huge admirer". 💖
I hope they sent him THE PRINCE OF TIDES when it came out.
what is "Tin Drum"? Also. Grant was great in the otherwise lousy show of Loki. In the next to last episode, Grant portrays the best alternate clone Loki in the old comic book green and yellow uniform. Of course , his acting is great and shakespearean and dramatic and his life ends in a courageous sacrifice....the way LOki should have been. He has some great video choices. What a legend.
"We want the finest wines available to humanity. We want them here and we want them now " witthnail and I could be one of my picks.
What a beautiful man 💙
Balls! We want the finest films available to humanity. We want them here and we want them now!
Really enjoyed watching this guy shop.
Best episode of this
Everyone picks Nashville, I love that.
Please put “Withnail and I” on Criterion!
I really despise celebrity culture but by god I love this man, such a character
He was awesome in warlock.
🥰🥰🥰Richard is a delight
That's the way I feel about Richard E. Grant, "Oh darling love you", lol...
This closet pick couldn't be more Richerd E. Grant
I have City Lights and Cries and Whispers on criterion
My OCD was kicking off when he grabbed the dvd when the blu Ray version was right next to it
"No Streisand films! My obsession!"
I felt uncomfortable the way R.E.G was dropping the DVDS in his bag.
I thought you'd stopped doing these - more please
Richard E. Grant is our English Jeff Goldblum.
We want the finest blu-rays available to humanity. We want them here and we want them now!
Withnail Absolutely Fleecing the Place !!
Fantastic closet video... that's how you do it! Can I have a turn ; )
No one ever picks that Zatoichi box set which is such a great package, let alone such a classic swath of Japanese film.
"Some Like It Hot" .... well nobody's perfect.
I wish the people would go into the plots and reasons they like the films more, sort of like What’s In My Bag? with amoeba record store. Also, I can’t believe no one has grabbed the zatoichi box set. I hope to be able to afford it soon 😔
you should re-release How To Get Ahead in Advertising in blu-ray! such an amazing film, and so little seen.
How to get a head in advising brilliant film!👏
One of the best closet videos!
"I've come to a DVD shop by mistake... are you the farmer?" 🇬🇧
The closet has copies of La Strada?? Please bring me in someday
can you hold the support with care ! Just cherish the moment man ! taking and putting the stuff in his bags like it's potataos.
Wasn’t Sophia Coppola brought to the closet recently? Where’s that video!?
FUCKING IDIOT!
Richard said that there were no Streisand films, but I think the Prince of Tides is there, according to an official list of movies in the closet. He might’ve missed it 😂🥴
I actually have a special section in my to watch list for the films that Richard E. Grant said he liked.
‘We want the finest films in humanity and we want them now.’
"THANK YOU VERY MUCH." LOL!
GET IN THE BACK OF THE VAN! And yes, I’d be pulling Blu rays off the shelves at that speed too :-)
