After watching the video with you texts between her and her mother, I find something isn't right...I think her mother helped her deliver the baby and helped her cover it up... Go back to the interragation with the parents and u see them act like they knew nothing about the birth control pills but the mother was the one making the appointments telling her to exercise and take the pills so she did not get pregnant at the prom, then giving her dulcolax... Something isn't right... The mother is guilty as well I think, IDK....

cclynn c That texting between Skylar and her mom is an important piece of evidence. Is it a coincidence that Skylar did not see a gynecologist until April 26 or that the decision was made to get birth control at that time. Maybe mom realized it was close to the due date and now birth control would be needed soon. Went back for birth control 10 weeks after the birth ( hoping the nurse and doctor wouldn't be so smart as to remember the April conversations). If she had got out of the doctor's office unscaved on that July visit we possibly would not be here today. Mom's anger,(IMO), came from getting caught. (Just my thoughts, don't beat me up too bad for them)

Say what you want, I find it quite convenient that such an unwanted pregnancy and baby would produce a stillborn. No attempt to assist the baby in ANY way. The baby wasn't even worth a family discussion. All the baby got from this, is a hole in the backyard. Twelve people will decide this, but a terrible interrogation makes NOT an innocent party. Facts determine that, and for me, the defendant's version of facts are far too convenient for the ultimate outcome she wanted and created, which was a flat belly and no baby.

At first she stated the baby was dead. After they completely bungled the investigation by making her confess to something that is on record as never happening, they cohersed her into saying the baby was alive. If you listen they tell her over and over that what she is telling them is a lie, bc they “know” the truth. They then tell her their version of the truth (which has been refuted) and tell her that if she wants to go home and wants the baby to come home so they can give her a proper burial she has to admit to THEIR truth. Which she does bc she thinks they are going to release her and the baby if she tells them what they want to hear. This is the parents fault for sending her in there with no lawyer!!!

I got pregnant 3 months after I graduated high school and knew for sure I had to be pregnant 3-4 months into it. I didn't go to a doctor until I was 8 months and then HAD to tell my parents. They were furious!! But, I did the right thing..."Little Princess" decided her looks were more important! She wasn't unhappy at all that the poor baby died and she put the pot of flowers on top of the so-called grave to cover it up! I do not believe that baby was stillborn!

I think Skylar needs mercy ...but in no way should she be able to walk away from this freely . She needs some strong support and therapy. Why she was so compelled to conceal her baby is truly because of the environment she was raised in...but she still has her own freewill. She still needs to be accountable in some way and she will. It's up to God in the end.

I could argue ,before the dawn of dna which is the ace of hard evidence ,most cases were tried with mostly circumstantial evidence ,convicted wrongly and set free from dna ! In my opinion having a case purely circumstantial in this day of technology re: text message ,pictures etc. Would hold more weight than say an eye witnesses ( not in this particular case ) as it tell a very compelling " story" relationship between mother and daughter ! The defendant here in my opinion has shown total disregard for the life growing inside her ! She took birth control to make the illusion of not being pregnant ! I do however feel this defendant although guilty of causing the death of her baby regardless if it was born stillborn ! In a society of today we dont have women bury stillborn babies ! Once a fetus is past 26ish weeks its presumed a mother does everything to have a thriving baby to raise or give up for adoption ! Even drug addicts usually show up at a hospital to born their babies ! I believe this girl was very cunning in her behavior by hiding this pregnancy which led to the demise of infant ! However she definently has mitigating circumstances such as a poor role model and previous body image, eating disorder mental illness .I dont think she needs to go to prison but she needs to be held accountable!

Emilie Gilbert in an interview that has been proven to be coerced. I don’t believe anything she said in the second interview bc they put words in her mouth ever time. They told her basically “tell us you did this and we will let you go and give you her remains.”
