I guess this doesn’t not work on vertical video . Footage is all over the place tried making the clip bigger also
Were you able to figure out how to fix this issue? Currently having the same problem
I honestly hate when technical difficulties happen . Literally it’s like working on a stupid car . A quick job ALWAYS turns into hours or days when a problem occurs it’s so damn annoying technology and it’s difficulties to work out are never quick
Explaining why you should flip it, was really helpful.
Thanks! Easy, efficient and it works! :)
Thanks for the video and thanks for the explanation on how the process works. Good work!
This is great. I'm trying to edit shorts for stand up comedy, is there a way to instead of tracking up/down AND side to side, track just the x-axis movement (side to side) and leave the up/down parameters fixed?
i haven't figured out a way to do that easily in FCP, no -- if you're willing to jump into resolve (it's easy, i give you my word) then you'll likely be able to get it done there! ruclips.net/video/J8w1OgAdJeE/видео.htmlsi=Csbw9s-OV-rF6CLh
thank you for the video! but for me it didn't work on the secondary line, should it work the same way? or there is another option for the secondary line?
hmm for secondary line, are you referring to the second layer above the primary timeline?
my fcpx 10.5 does not have the tracking option, do you have the solution for ths
are you able to update to 10.6 or later?
Hello! For some reason even when I make the view bigger I still don’t get the option to track or transform. I’m lost help please!!!
which version of FCP are you on?
Thank you so much 🙏🏻😊
I followed the instructions, but there is only one thing I noticed. My clip is somewhat zoomed in and is no longer in the original scale once I've done the tracking as outlined in the video here. Is this avoidable?
so you'll need at least a little zoom in, to give the clip room to move around in the frame -- but create a new compound clipped with everything there and then zoom that compound clip out a little bit and see if that looks better to you
thanks for the explanation, Final Cut should have a locked on feature built in by now.
Great tutorial. I appreciate the how it works also. One more thing, though, does this work on 360 video?
i haven't tested it, but i will!
na dosent work on vertical video
it does! just need to leave a bunch of space around the subject so you have room to move the frame around
tried multiple times its way to zoomed in and the footage is all over the place....
Ayyyy was just searching for this and was stoked to see that the tutorial was created by none other than R Cody Wanner. Thanks this is a game changer and simple to follow! Using it in my next vids.
do one turning horizontal to vertical! Its so hard. Do i need to keyframe first?
your wish is my command! just released it today!
Learned a lot from this, thanks man!
hey there, when i try this on my iphone 4k footage it looks great but when i export the project the effect falls off? any suggestions?
hmm, are there any steps that you take from the time you play it back and it works, to the time you export it? what's your export process?
Cody, you RAWK Sir! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘
why thank you!!
Haha sweet transition. Man I’m gonna try this one out in my next vlog. So dope. Quick and dirty!
Would this work the same creating a portrait dimensions video ?
yep! you just really have to be sure to capture the shot wide enough, so that the frame has space to move around
Niiiice. Thanks!!!
thank you for explaing the reason to why we need to flip it. you say, its not neccessary to know but its like math class, where you learn the long way how to solve a problem and then the teacher shows you the shortcut and you are like why didnt you just show that to us from the beginning. its to make sure you understand what is going on in the background in the shortcut , so thank you.
p.s. im glad tracking is available finally in FCPX without any plugins
Thanks! Awesome!
actually needed it got the right video right time youtube algorithm is awesome and you as well. 😁
ya love to hear it!!
Thanks for the video, is it possible to stop the frame from going off the edge of the video whilst using this effect?
yes -- so once this who process is finished, select everything, right click, and hit "create new compound clip" -- once the clip is created, go over to scale, and increase the size until the clip is no longer going off the edge.
another option would be to "mirror effect" the edges, i explain that process here: ruclips.net/video/snESVMfrE04/видео.html
if you are able, of course, you can re-shoot, and zoom out or stand back further, so that you give your subject more room in the frame
Well now I know what I’ll be playing with today.
👀 please make an insanely overly tracked IG story
Thanks Cody! Awesome explanation, and thank you for the details of how it works. I like knowing the 'why' not just the 'how'.
Well this is stupid (I’m criticizing Apple here)
😂😂
a comment
Super helpful! Especially the explanation cause I've been wondering ever since the first video why we needed to do the mirroring! Thanks
i made it this far ,so i leave a comment 🤪🤙🏾 ,Thanks for this quick tutorial,u hit the spot .PEace
I saw this process a few days ago but it didn't explain the reason. I can finally sleep knowing the 'why', thank you!
Thanks Cody! Saw the first one and nailed it ever since, now is just a double check. So thanks
I’m unsure what I’m doing wrong the tracker after I hit analyze does not track the green square keeps going to no man’s land and gets stuck away from subject
Solid bro definitely just made it make sense 🔥🔥
hyped to hear it!!
ooh love it! Nice quick and dirty. Thanks for showing how to do this. Then the why it works part so we can better understand it is money!
With the black edges this effect creates when the screen moves obviously I can zoom in to fix this. If I didn't want to zoom in how would I mirror the edges so the black bits weren't there. Reference clip is connor price million cash
You could use a plugin from pixel film studios called stabilizer 2.0 - that is how that one works... but here is the way to do it using my method: ruclips.net/video/snESVMfrE04/видео.htmlsi=Vo6Ojr3PQZd-TXcL - video is unlisted so just let me know you saw it
@RCodyWanner just watched it and that's is so helpful thank you so much 🤩
Awesome tutorial and explanation of the why and how to. Great job man!
thanks man
Short and sweet awesome! What was the issue with your old video?
in the old one i didn't explain why the technique works quite as well!
Thank you SO MUCH for the detailed explanation! Do you have any tips if it the tracking is coming out a bit choppy in the clip?
I'm leaving a comment since you asked. My brain can't comprehend this, I got to watch it again. Nice video btw.
Thank You! And thank you!
you are FCPX GURU!!! (thank you, you saving my life!)
i tried the same thing in a vertical video shot on a mirrorless and the same output was not generated...
Please help @RCodyWanner
hmm, I am able to replicate it with vertical, i wonder what is up.
Thanks a lot for the second video on motion tracking it works well. Keep sharing good no-plug in stuff.
🤌😘 *Worked perfectly!* Thank you so much for the help and explanation. _Loved the tutorial; keep up the great work!_
thank you!! glad to hear it!!
it doesn't flip itself over anymore
hmm -- what version fcp are you on?
commen
Thanks! Very useful and objective !
i buy stabilizer 2.0 before i watch this:(
Excellent subscribed ;)
why thank you!! let me know if there is a specific tutorial you'd like to see
how would you do this with vertical video?
the same way, just remember to leave enough space around your subject so that you have room to move the frame around in post
Thanks Cody! I can't wait to try this down the road.
I tried this on a forklift. The. scene is doing a pan but FCP is not moving the frame when the forklift turn and goes up the frame. The frame is blown up to fit a 4K image into vertical.
could you send me the clip? email is in the "ABOUT" section on my youtube channel
once I picked "object track" it didn't not flip back over from -130
explaining why is very helpful, thanks
Спасибо за видео. Знал, как сделать этот эффект, но было действительно не понятно, почему надо делать такое странное действие как переворачивать картинку. Спасибо за объяснение! )
my pleasure!! thanks so much for watching!
Great, thank you. Great idea, very good explanation.
Every time I click on the transform part, the original clip just becomes a tiny video on the lower left :( Not sure what I'm doing wrong
when you click on the little arrow next to the "object tracker", is "scale" checked? if so, uncheck that
❤
man! how do you even come up with that!
haha i just really wanted it built in and wanted to stop key-framing by hand haha
Thank you. We’ll explained! This looks like something I will use for sure!
Leaving a comment because you asked nicely 🤪 greetings from the island of eternal spring (Tenerife) great discovery and clear explanation of why it works... I loved the way the guy in the car reversed as you were explaining the shifting of the pixels 😀
haha thank you! and love that you saw that in the background
I love the extra movement, people, cars… ect in the background. It keeps you guessing and like good morning American vibe 😂 #commenting #keepcreating
why thank you!!
Dead sexy info! I can't believe it's that simple to get this effect one sees so often. Nicely done. Thank you!
Now I understand why. Thxs
Thanks!
Thanks So much Malam!!
Exactly what I was looking for, in exactly the bite sized piece I needed. Thank you!
let's goo!! did google show it to you as a clip or did you have to go through the video to find the section?
How do you behead someone in fcpx
Thank you so much for the explanation!
Thank you for the very well explained tip!!!
crazy how this work, kuddos !
thank you ehat a game changer!! :)
awesome to know!
cool very smart and effective. I knew I had to apply the inverse tracking , but didn't get the idea to to do the tracking on the inverted footage
glad it worked!!
I didn’t even know that I needed to know this and now in dying to try it. Love this affect man thank you for making this vid👊
yesss!! thank you!
Loved this video. Seen only two of your videos, but I already love your work. Thanks for being real.
thank you!!
Evergreen 😎
Have yet to try this.
I needed to know how it works so thanks for the extra explanation 😊
Thanks! This was great!
omg thank you. i’ve been trying to learn this effect for the longest time because i edit basketball videos and i wanna track the ball but most yt videos are for PR and/or hard to understand. subscribed.
happy to help! let me know if you need help doing anything else!
Nice🎉Thank You
Sick, Love it! Also love the setting in this vid!
thanks so much man!!
Thanks for this Cody -- do you know if there is an easy way to reduce the tracking amount by some fractional amount? ie tracking amount of ".5" would mean: object moves 10pixels to the left, video moves 5pixels to the right. Thanks again!
yes to do this, scale your bottom clip, the one you are analyzing for the object track, down to 50%.
@@RCodyWanner oh duh -- if i understood the "why" i would have figured this out haha cheers!
Solid video Cody! I love learning some new tips from ya. Hope you and the fam are having a great holiday season.
thanks so much Finley!
great advice
That is such a cool tutorial. There are so many features to this application that I have yet to discover. Thanks Cody, much appreciated!
Nicewan fella
Great tutorial 🗒
Thanks A lot
Great tutorial! Take care!!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Thanks :)
Hi Cody! I've used the stabilization technique a few times successfully, but I'm having an issue trying a variation of it.
do you know of a way of making the tracker only track the X axis? or at least have the transform only apply to that axis? I'm trying to stabilize some footage that I'm happy with the Y axis but the subject moves from side to side and I want to keep it dead center. I've tried abunch of things but can't seem to get it to work.
good question - how long is the clip - might have to just do it manually - i use that method here, just only key frame Y ruclips.net/video/cNA2UvgIkq4/видео.html
it's only 15 seconds, so not too bad, I tried doing it manually with the crop feature in stead of transform, and it ended up a little bit jittery as whats actually moving is the camera, so the parallax/perspective changes are quite noticeable if not perfect... ill try again the way you did it
Thank you so much for the reply and for the stabilization discovery!
if too jittery, only use a key frame every 3 or 4 frames -- smooth it out a little
Thanks for explaining Cody. I’ve done this effect but never understood WHY it worked. I guess it’s also important that the locked on part is dead center in the frame. When I’ve done it, off-center, it just looked wonky.
Thanks Cody!!!
Solid information right here. Appreciate the content
thank you!
So we’ll explained. Ready to get my feet wet with FCP for my own channel!
WHEWWW MINNER!! what types of content!?
