I do to. I do up my entire yard, but my wife doesn't get involved at all. It's gotten to the point that it's starting to become far too much work for one person, but I just can bring myself to give it up.
This is exactly what it’s like when I’m trying to work on props with my kids around... only now they’re getting to be old enough to help me. Your video was one of the most informative I’ve seen on this subject, but also made me feel like I was just hangin’ out with some friends. Thanks for sharing!
We don't finish work as fast as we used to but the little ones make it better. I always feel like I'm forgetting things now but that could also mean I'm just getting older. We have always tried to be ourselves with the hopes that others felt like they were just hanging with us so that's really nice to hear. Thank you very much for your kind words it means a lot.
Nice tutorial. I've been thinking about what to do with my old 99 cent tombstones. One quick suggestion: Grab a 1x4 piece of scrap wood, drill your pvc holes in it and use it as a template for future tombstones. You can then use it when placing rebar into the ground. It helps me when designing my cemetery scene by swapping out gravestones from place to place without have to reinstall the rebar for each tombstone. :)
Another superb vid in the bucket!! GREAT VID YOU TWO!!! Wait...you three! Can't forget lil' Harrison ;) What a kickass tutorial. Thanks and appreciate you sharing this stuff! Do more if you can! Oh, also...that shot of the tombstones and fog is very reminiscent of "Return of the Living Dead Part II", where the zombies rise from the grave. Check out that scene on here when you can and you'll see what I mean! Graveyard Scene, Return of the Living Dead part II. Halloween is among us so let's embrace it, for it only gets better from here on out!!
This gave me the idea to give my mom's old beat up tombstone's a new life by using great stuff to fix holes, and to give them all new more realistic paint job.
Just an idea... I went to a local hot tub dealer and asked if they had any old/used hot tub covers? And all I had to do is separate the aluminum bits from the Styrofoam and I could take the foam for free then you get 6 headstones from each full cover.
Love that you guys are doing this during nap time. That's the only way I can get any stuff done. Can't wait till my 3 are old enough to help with the haunt. Love the video.
Ya when theyre that little they get into everything. anyways we love you guys. My older two love watching with me. Now I think I need to go to the dollar store and get some tombstones.
You two are so awesome. I wish I could get my partner to be this into Halloween and prop making. Thank you for everything you all do and the videos. Take care and be safe!!!
Awesome!! I grew up with decorations for every holiday, no matter how small. Halloween was always my favorite. The creepier, the better. But, I can no longer decorate like I used to, due to some health issues. So, I'm handing down all my skulls and creepiness to my daughter. She is the heir to my 'witch hat.' She's crazy about Halloween. I've trained her well. 😉 I have nothing bad to say about any of your awesome tombstones. Every one of them gets a 10!! I thought of an idea, though. Not sure if it would look OK. You could take one of your handy-dandy skewers and etch some squiggly cracks into the foam to make it look cracked. Or, draw them on with a black sharpie after the paint dries, and smudge them ever so slightly with a cloth so they wouldn't look so defined and to make it look like it's shadowed a little. Just a thought. Thanks for the video! You just got another sub! Happy Halloween!! 💀😱🎃☠️👻
Moss grows on the DARK side of the rock. In the North hemisphere, it would be the North side because the sunlight comes from the South, but in the South hemisphere it would be the South side.
lanesteele240 I was worried for the kid! He's just running around and I could only picture him getting into something! I'll definitely try to talk my mom into doing this stuff, hopefully my "kids" (the chickens) don't decide to try and eat the foam as I'm working!
Awesome Video!!. You guys do wonderful stuff. I have a few questions... what is the wood handle scrapper tool you guys used/where can I find one....2nd question have you used Drylock instead of flexbond? Does one work better than the other?
The scrapper is a curry horse comb, you can find them at pet stores or tack and feed for livestock. Drylock would also work to weather proof. The texture is the only thing that would be different.
Well that looks like fun! Nice to see the variety of approaches your took. I think people tend to forget that there's so many different "right" ways to make something. That's an awesome rock wall, too!
Wow! Wow! (Direct quote from me while watching this!) first: genius idea to utilize dollar store tombstones! Basically spent around $5 per tombstone (my rough calculation) and made them look like REAL TOMBSTONES! Priceless. I so wish I’d thought of this sooner! Question: how long do you think this project would take? A day or 2 with dry time? I’m sure with a toddler EVERYTHING TAKES LONGER. I’m working on 2 graveyards- one for my college Scare Fair and another for my own yard. My biggest challenge is figuring out how to build a (cheap) graveyard IN A PARKING LOT. Inside a “scare tent” haunted house... 🙄🤷🏼♀️ so weighting the bases as much as possible? I stay up at night trying to come up with tricks to making this “scare tent” actually scary. No solid walls, on concrete in a parking lot. If you have any tips, feel free to share! I have until Oct 24th to make it happen! Thanks so much for posting this video! It was GREAT STUFF 😂
I've never cared for styrofoam stones. I've always made wood stones for a western type them to my cemetery. This makes me wanna use the foam stones. You guys did amazing work transforming original dollar store stones. Definitely going to try this.
I wanted to thank you guys for your videos. I took this example and made it our own this year, keeping the text details on the $1 store foam. Great ideas in this video, and super thrifty!
Lol, I have a few of those shedding tools, tho I typically use them to groom up/shed out our horses. But I love multi use tools, and can see myself robbing my grooming box in the very near future for a few Halloween builds myself. Thanks for the awesome ideas!
This was great. I love that you show all the different ways to transform cheap crap to something beautiful. I do wish they had names on them. I’d like to see your technique for that. I gonna try this thanks so much
Love your stones! Your final display- wow. It looks like a real cemetery, and the best yet, its a very simple how-to; which most home haunters love. The baby is adorable! Growing up fast!
Just watched your video. Great ideas for the cheap tombstones that like to fly away in a good wind. As for finish work. I found using Rustolium Granite spray paint for a base color and the mist with a flat black really mimics the old stone color. I have also use the Stone paint you can buy at any box store or Walmart. Use this for the base and then color how ever you like. The stone paint also will hide the edges where your layers come together. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video! I was in the garage looking at my sad tombstones and was thinking about reinforcing them then found your new video. Those look so good.
Hey guys!! Happy to see the kid working on his 'Harrison's Fiberglas Revue'. I'm glad you can still do a few props here and there. PS that's a fun EPS rock background!
Hey there 👋😊, It's SO nice to meet people who love Halloween--like me!! I am thrilled to watch your videos and laugh with you and your baby! You guys remind me of me and my husband 😂 Happy haunting to you and yours. ☮️ Leslie
I've often wondered about different ways to improve these very tombstones! I have quite a few. I love the ideas you guys came up with, definitely outside of the box and good results! Thanks guys.
You guys have a way of making me want to drop everything and do what you’re doing. It is Haunt season, so I can’t drop everything, but I’m definitely adding tombstone makeovers to my list for next season. I’ve never been into carving headstones, and I know mine are definitely lacking, so this will be a perfect project to give them a tasteful, spooky look. I love how yours turned out! Great family video, with all the Halloween feels. Thanks for sharing! Have fun with Harrison! 🎃
I came to your channel because Monster Tutorials mentioned your channel in his DIY tombstone video. I'm glad that I stopped by because I feel your struggle about trying to craft with younger kids. My kids are older now so I am slowly getting back into it. I love your humor and I'm looking forward to looking at your video log and see the new videos you come up with.
I've had a similar idea but you guys had a lot more variation than I did. I'm taking a year off from Halloween from being in nursing school but hopefully I'll have time to do neat stuff like this next year
Can also leave the Wooden skewers in the foam and just clip off the ends. After that you push them into the foam a bit past the face and fill hole end with putty. Then you have the added strength of the wood bits in the joint without seeing them.
Fantastic....love them so much. I have to say I did use dollars store tombstone and built them up as well. You guy's make me want to go out and build some more lol. Just love your videos. I remember how hard it is to do anything at all with a curious toddler. Have fun!
You guys rock! Even when it's foam rocks. Your son is awesome! I've missed you guys and your cool tutorials. But I have two of my own and I know what it's like. Best wishes to the three of you!
Great video, thanks for sharing your ideas really inspired me to try something. What do you reccomend to use for adding words and names etc just curious.
Love you guys!!! So happy to see you posting some more cool DIY! hopefully in a few years, you will have a great little helper for future projects!!! Have an amazing day!!
Thanks!! Yes, he will be a fantastic helper. He already seems to be mechanical like his dad. Thank you for the kind words, have a wonderful day as well 😊
I think it's so cool that you guy's do this together. Not to mention how much fun you get out of it. Thanks for the ideas. Halloween 24-7-365!
I do to. I do up my entire yard, but my wife doesn't get involved at all. It's gotten to the point that it's starting to become far too much work for one person, but I just can bring myself to give it up.
P
Yea ...when the kids come along....the Halloween prop building fun is over... along with the video watching fun being interupted by kids!!!!
Awsome tombstones,.... and yes it is the north side
wow. lovely. Tombstones are awesome. Thank you for sharing your family too. Your little boy is adorable
Moss grows on the north. And great work
A nanny is a life saver!
Moss North Side.. is damp longer. and less light... Looks Great.. I have used Fleck Stone Spray paint for texture also... Happy Halloween !

I think some older tombstones just break down over time and fall over. Nice job.
The haunted-baby animatronic looks so life like! ;) You two are the best!!!
LOL! Did you see the end, stopping to smell the dead roses :P
OMGosh YES! *LOL* That kid is such an adorable goof-ball. Kinda like his parents!!!
I loved it! I’ve also watched your haunted house facade videos over and over! My yard has some of your ideas! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Thanks so much for liking and hearting my comment!
Of course! Thank you for the comment :)
Also where did you guys get the foam for the spooky fountain for your haunted house and western town?
I might have to do this, it's cheap compared to other tombstones, if you already have scrap wood is like 3 dollars per tombstones
Yes, we prefer wood as well but know this would be helpful since not everyone works with wood. Thanks for watching 🎃
Another superb vid in the bucket!! GREAT VID YOU TWO!!! Wait...you three! Can't forget lil' Harrison ;)

Fansatic job!
🎃
Thank you guys for these videos. Helped me a ton with my tombstone props. I made a video and posted it on my channel. Thanks again!
cool vid now im gonna fix all my crappy tombstones that ive had for years. its funny i was looking for a vid like this for a long time
you guys are pretty brilliant with your creations.. I'm going to have to try some of this for sure!
This video does not deserve ANY dislikes at all! Those have got to be some of the most realistic tombstones I've seen!
🎃🖤🖤🎃🖤🎃🎃🖤🖤🎃🖤🎃
From a headphone user, I disagree.
I will respectfully disagree. This video was to long.
I still give this a thumbs up.
lanesteele240 I was worried for the kid! He's just running around and I could only picture him getting into something!
I'll definitely try to talk my mom into doing this stuff, hopefully my "kids" (the chickens) don't decide to try and eat the foam as I'm working!
Industrial Blue Just a thought...instead of white, what about some glow-in-the-dark paint? That would give it a little creepy glow.
This is awesome!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing all these awesome ideas!!!!
No problem 🎃
Like this video good tips

You done an amazing job. Great ideas to do for my yard. They were all awesome.
You should put funny puns or names on them! Amazing work
Moss grows on the north side guys!!! I also attach dried and dead vines and ivy to my tombstones as well!
Awesome!
Well that looks like fun! Nice to see the variety of approaches your took. I think people tend to forget that there's so many different "right" ways to make something. That's an awesome rock wall, too!

Check out haunted by memories on RUclips, she makes her haunts out of pop up tents. Maybe you'll be inspired by some of her set up.
Let me find her channel, it doesn't come up when I search the name.
Thanks for replying! If you find her let me know- I’ll look too!

Let us know if you do 😊
I wanted to thank you guys for your videos. I took this example and made it our own this year, keeping the text details on the $1 store foam. Great ideas in this video, and super thrifty!
These look AMAZING! The only thing I would have done different was put the moss more of the bottom of the graves!
Sanding is my least favorite sound but i still watched this the whole way through. Love them!

Woo Hoo!
Great ideas!! We spend so much money on Halloween BC my 5 year old loves Halloween. Your son is so cute!!!
That's a cool video! Thanks for sharing.
Hey guys!! Happy to see the kid working on his 'Harrison's Fiberglas Revue'. I'm glad you can still do a few props here and there. PS that's a fun EPS rock background!
Haha! Thanks, not sure what it's gonna be used for but it's making a fantastic backdrop 😂🤣😂
Great video! Should have dressed Harrison up as baby Frankenstein as he was wondering through the spooky graveyard! So Cute!
Haha!!! Awww, yes we will have to start thinking ahead 🖤
The struggle is real. Got my idea. Got my props. Hubby having triple by pass surgery throws everything out the window. Love the acupuncture tombstones
We're sorry to hear that. Hope everything goes well for him.
The final results are outstanding! Kudos!
Loved the tombstones did a great job with weathering the tombstones Chris and Jienna

Me too, monster tutorial pointed ya'll out so I followed, subbed, and hit the bell.
I've had a similar idea but you guys had a lot more variation than I did. I'm taking a year off from Halloween from being in nursing school but hopefully I'll have time to do neat stuff like this next year

That's true it would. We pulled them out so we had them for other projects but foam does glue them pretty well. You caught us being cheap 🤣
Love all of these I got so excited when I seen you guys upload can’t wait for more!
Thanks!
Fantastic....love them so much. I have to say I did use dollars store tombstone and built them up as well. You guy's make me want to go out and build some more lol. Just love your videos. I remember how hard it is to do anything at all with a curious toddler. Have fun!
GUYS A GREAT VIDEO LOTS OF GOOD INFORMATION
Before sanding/blending edges, I use a joint compound/plaster of paris mix to fill the edge gaps then paint/texture.
Great idea!
very cool transformation into stones that are now usable :)
🎃
I love your tombstones! I can't wait to make these. And y'all made me laugh! So awesome!
