      I do to. I do up my entire yard, but my wife doesn't get involved at all. It's gotten to the point that it's starting to become far too much work for one person, but I just can bring myself to give it up.

    This is exactly what it’s like when I’m trying to work on props with my kids around... only now they’re getting to be old enough to help me. Your video was one of the most informative I’ve seen on this subject, but also made me feel like I was just hangin’ out with some friends. Thanks for sharing!

      We don't finish work as fast as we used to but the little ones make it better. I always feel like I'm forgetting things now but that could also mean I'm just getting older. We have always tried to be ourselves with the hopes that others felt like they were just hanging with us so that's really nice to hear. Thank you very much for your kind words it means a lot.

    Nice tutorial. I've been thinking about what to do with my old 99 cent tombstones.
    One quick suggestion: Grab a 1x4 piece of scrap wood, drill your pvc holes in it and use it as a template for future tombstones. You can then use it when placing rebar into the ground. It helps me when designing my cemetery scene by swapping out gravestones from place to place without have to reinstall the rebar for each tombstone. :)

    I might have to do this, it's cheap compared to other tombstones, if you already have scrap wood is like 3 dollars per tombstones

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  6 лет назад

      Yes, we prefer wood as well but know this would be helpful since not everyone works with wood. Thanks for watching 🎃

    What a kickass tutorial. Thanks and appreciate you sharing this stuff! Do more if you can!
    Oh, also...that shot of the tombstones and fog is very reminiscent of "Return of the Living Dead Part II", where the zombies rise from the grave. Check out that scene on here when you can and you'll see what I mean! Graveyard Scene, Return of the Living Dead part II.

      Just an idea... I went to a local hot tub dealer and asked if they had any old/used hot tub covers? And all I had to do is separate the aluminum bits from the Styrofoam and I could take the foam for free then you get 6 headstones from each full cover.

    Awesome!! I grew up with decorations for every holiday, no matter how small. Halloween was always my favorite. The creepier, the better. But, I can no longer decorate like I used to, due to some health issues. So, I'm handing down all my skulls and creepiness to my daughter. She is the heir to my 'witch hat.' She's crazy about Halloween. I've trained her well. 😉 I have nothing bad to say about any of your awesome tombstones. Every one of them gets a 10!! I thought of an idea, though. Not sure if it would look OK. You could take one of your handy-dandy skewers and etch some squiggly cracks into the foam to make it look cracked. Or, draw them on with a black sharpie after the paint dries, and smudge them ever so slightly with a cloth so they wouldn't look so defined and to make it look like it's shadowed a little. Just a thought. Thanks for the video! You just got another sub! Happy Halloween!!

    Moss grows on the DARK side of the rock. In the North hemisphere, it would be the North side because the sunlight comes from the South, but in the South hemisphere it would be the South side.

    Awesome Video!!. You guys do wonderful stuff. I have a few questions... what is the wood handle scrapper tool you guys used/where can I find one....2nd question have you used Drylock instead of flexbond? Does one work better than the other?

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  6 лет назад

      The scrapper is a curry horse comb, you can find them at pet stores or tack and feed for livestock. Drylock would also work to weather proof. The texture is the only thing that would be different.

  • @KerriGilpin

    Wow! Wow! (Direct quote from me while watching this!) first: genius idea to utilize dollar store tombstones! Basically spent around $5 per tombstone (my rough calculation) and made them look like REAL TOMBSTONES! Priceless.
    I so wish I’d thought of this sooner!
    Question: how long do you think this project would take? A day or 2 with dry time? I’m sure with a toddler EVERYTHING TAKES LONGER.
    I’m working on 2 graveyards- one for my college Scare Fair and another for my own yard. My biggest challenge is figuring out how to build a (cheap) graveyard IN A PARKING LOT. Inside a “scare tent” haunted house... 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ so weighting the bases as much as possible? I stay up at night trying to come up with tricks to making this “scare tent” actually scary. No solid walls, on concrete in a parking lot. If you have any tips, feel free to share! I have until Oct 24th to make it happen!
    Thanks so much for posting this video! It was GREAT STUFF 😂

    Just watched your video. Great ideas for the cheap tombstones that like to fly away in a good wind. As for finish work. I found using Rustolium Granite spray paint for a base color and the mist with a flat black really mimics the old stone color. I have also use the Stone paint you can buy at any box store or Walmart. Use this for the base and then color how ever you like. The stone paint also will hide the edges where your layers come together. Keep up the good work.

    Can also leave the Wooden skewers in the foam and just clip off the ends. After that you push them into the foam a bit past the face and fill hole end with putty. Then you have the added strength of the wood bits in the joint without seeing them.
