This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Hours and hours worth of Fire Emblem content in one video, thank you so much for doing this! You got yourself a new subsnirber.
ive watched every single one as they came out, coming from a longtime fire emblem fan: these are the most comprehensive and best retrospective videos ive ever seen come outta fire emblem! thank you shane for all your work and effort into this project! I would love to see you cover the tear ring saga or even berwick as most consider these still apart of the fire emblem universe.
What a quick, to-the-point retrospective! Jokes aside, thank you for making these. Learning of others’ experience with these games is always a joy, and your videos will help others in the future get into this amazing series.
A third of the way through the video, absolutely beautiful work breaking down and analyzing every game. So so so jealous of you being able to play Genealogy blind. Even with knowing the big spoiler of FE4, it's my favorite Fire Emblem story by far and probably near the top in all media. Very glad to know people are still able to experience the game as if it just came out. Godbless project Naga.
I started playing fe with awakening and played every release after. This series has been a great introduction to all the og games! Ty for your hard work ❤
I got really excited when you got to the blazing blade and sacred stones. Two of my most played games as a young teenager that weren't pokemon. I'll admit I can't be unbiased for both as they hold so much nostalgia for me
I personally loved Sacred Stones. I loved the option of being able to experiment with the extra XP to build and experiment with all the units. I then took that knowledge to later play PoR on Hard mode and really have a feel for how i was suppose to play and strategies. Sacred stones was my first game and i feel that any new player to the series would love starting there for the ability to learn the game
I would love to see a remaster of the radiance games, I remember path of radiance so well and want to see it again with a polish and some of the new features from modern games
Re: the double roll talk, as someone who's got some experience in both maths and game design, it's actually a psychological thing - humans are *really bad* at intuiting probabilities, so if you have a single roll 90%, almost everyone playing the game will actually feel like they're hitting significantly *less* than 90% of the time. There are a lot of games that do this, for instance iirc in one of the doom games you took half damage when under 20% health, so your character actually had 120% health total, which causes more fights to end at low health and *feel* like they were a close run thing (I may be misremembering the actual numbers) Games do this a lot, because when it comes right down to it a lot of game design is about making a game which *feels* fair rather than one which actually *is* fair, and if your players don't have easy access to forums which will tell them they're being lied to, the lie will probably end up making the majority of players thinking the game is more fair than if it didn't lie to them
Really great videos! One of the things I love about both Zelda and Fire Emblem is how they inspire what can only be described as real scholarship and analysis. Kudos! Now a question: do you have any links to share or tutorial video on how to actually play FE4? I have little exposure to the emulator world. Thx!
2:15 Just in the first couple of minutes, you have expressed the exact same sentiment a dedicated FE player deals with when losing a unit in permadeath. We just didn't really like that character... 😭
I think, having played RD a number of times (only beating it thrice though iirc), it is a black sheep in that its more fun each time. the first playthrough feels like a desperate fight against unknowable odds, which is fun. But on the second and third (and fourth, etc) you now KNOW those odds, and can thus prepared for them. The many twists and turns with switching armies sets you off balance on the 1st playthrough, but on the second and third, I had a plan set out. I knew which exact characters i wanted to take into the tower (I intended to leave behind all the laguz royals cause they're cheap af imo, at least, once youve beaten the game once, or on Hard/Maniac) and knew exactly the path i wanted to take. Ike, Micaiah, Sothe, Sanaki, Ena, Kurthnaga (all of which are required), Edward (best trueblade), Aran (love me the sentinels), Neph and Danved (again, love the sentinels), Titania (best girl), gatrie, shinon, Mia (also love trueblades), Boyd, and Renning. Oh and Leanne as my heron.
Fire Emblem is my heart. The first FE: Warriors game is something I can't stop playing. I have several hundred hours in it, and I adore all the characters. Azura, from Fates, and Camilla, are my only two true favorites. Lyndis, Celica, and Tharja are okay, too.
Not sure if is nostalgia but i cannot agree with your comment on Fire Emblem Sacred stones, it was the second Fire emblem game i played many years ago and i loved. it is the only game that has class upgrades that do not show on any other games so far, for example the wyven knight. Also if some players don't like the grinding part they can just not grind. But great video still.
For someone looking to get into the series, this is pretty good for going over the older games I would probably not play. Are you considering doing one for Advance Wars?
Start with sacred stones or blazing sword. It pains me to see people pass on the old entries because genealogy and thracia are the most unique ones in the franchise and not as outdated as they might think, but they get put in the same bag as the first 3 which I do not recommend. Whichever game you choose though I hope you enjoy it!
@@DrUSB it's okay, everyone has to start somewhere. I always recommend sacred stones (GBA) to those who liked/started with awakening. It's the smoothest transition to the gba and prior games imo. Being perfectly honest I'm not the biggest fan of the more modern entries since they're quite different but I know why they're enjoyable for others
FE4 story part 1 be like: "Why are all of these major characters, descendants of holy warriors and kingdoms throughout the land, just sitting around in the most random place imaginable or got lost?" Like for real. Can not go five steps without running into some heir to greatnes from a country on the other side of the world who just so happens to find his true love 5 steps later. Sigurds army is a "chosen one" breeding facility first and absolute fighting force second
I... I clicked on this thinking it was actually quick. About two hours later i figured i must've left autoplay on but NOPE 😂 this shows how much attention I pay to literally anything lol
@@GamesBrained yay! I've really been looking forward to your three hopes videos :) My first three playthroyghs were fun but I really hope they expand the game with some DLC

Its not one piece but i saw 8 hrs and down loaded this right away since playing fire emblem on switch ( and rewinding when some one dies help) but this series has always been in my mind since the game cube
wow this thing barely managed to fit all the finer points of the series and it's effects on gaming as a whole into this super short run time, honestly, i think you made it too short really, it should have been atleast ten or fifteen more hours long! lol good vid dude appreciate the hard work
You should check out tear ring saga and Berwick saga for the ps1 and ps2 they are spiritual succesors to fire emblem created by one of the original creators(sorry i just got to the part you mention it). Im a massive fan of fire emblem and have been since around 2005 and i own and have played every single game in the series. I have all the physical copies in origanal boxing with manuals including FE mirage. Such an expensive series to purchase. Luckily i bought POR and Radiant dawn when they first were released. Btw if anyone likes to play physical copies without an emulator you can buy translated bootlegs, that's what i did for any not in English is buy the original copies+ translations.
Perfect balance should NEVER be the goal for a single-player game, especially in this kind of simulationist genre. Being able to find the weird interactions in the systems and using weird tactics to break the game is half the fun in a game like this.
I appreciate how short yet comprehensive this is.
idk is short would be the best way to describe a 8 hour video 😂
Just long enough to fall asleep to

I've started with 7 but these vids have convinced me to go explore backwards into the older titles. This collection is amazing

I have never played a single Fire Emblem game in my life but I am so immersed in this video. Sheeesh
Omg my favorite fire emblem, Fire Emblem Ultimate!! I can’t believe someone has finally uncovered this cult classic
Somehow I missed the Fire Emblem Ultimate video before, and it's my favorite game in the Fire Emblem series too!
FANTASTIC video! Thanks for all your hard work on this video. Inspired me to play through some of the older titles I missed out on when I was a kid.
What a quick, to-the-point retrospective!

One of the best videos I've watched on RUclips. Thank you for doing this. haha Great Prep for Engage.
This series has been incredibly enjoyable to watch. I’ve only in the past year have gotten into the series
Now to play this video every day for the rest of my life
Oh boy. I know what I'm rewatching at work tomorrow~
My favorite part throughout this whole series was where chrom and lucina just went to a link to the eshop
This will be a great watch when I have a spare eight hours. JK I’ll get to it eventually I know it’s gonna be quality content
Trying to find the original video for fire emblem ultimate as it’s the only one that I haven’t seen before. It’s so funny 😂😂 honestly made my day
